I was inspired to make a DIY journal cover and went here with no experience of leather working. They have a bin of scrap leather for purchase and some sale items. Sale items are on refundable. Minimum purchase is a whole hide or half hide for bigger ones. Their smaller hides are lamb skin which was around $50-60 bucks for a medium size. Their cow hide, they can do half hide which is what I did since it was so big. I got quite a few journal covers out of that as well as a couple passport holders.

The bags were returned by FedEx and have a glossy luster and shine now. The black bag looks like new and the white is better but not perfect.

I first brought the boots to the Grand Central location and was turned away because apparently only 55th Street (the least accessible NYC location for me) does calf alterations. My boots were 1-1.5" too wide in the calves as I have very narrow legs, and while I was clear that I didn't want them to be tight, I did want them to look more fitted and neater around my legs. I went to 55th Street and intentionally had the boots fitted over jeans, repeatedly telling the store employee that he was cutting off my circulation and needed to loosen the boots. Rather than listen to me and do what I asked, he told me that they could stretch them if they turned out too small. I very adamantly said no, I will not compromise the integrity of the leather by stretching them nor will I agree to have the boots made too small so that additional work will be required. I finally asked him to provide the final measurement and was told it was 13". The boots were originally 14.5" for reference. The boots were ready in just over a week, which already had me concerned since I hadn't requested a rush job. Upon receiving them, I could immediately see that they were two different sizes. The left boot is 12.5" and the right boot is just barely 12.25". They are nearly impossible to zip, the seams were done VERY poorly and not straight, and most importantly, they do not fit without severe pain. I cannot walk in them. I literally can't even move my right ankle. And that's on my bare legs without jeans. I immediately contacted Leather Spa and received a response from Vincent who said it's very common for boots with this type of repair to require additional treatment and that I should bring them back for stretching. Did I not already have this conversation BEFORE I paid $300+ to ruin $2k+ boots??? Vincent insists they are not ruined even after I sent photos showing that they very much are. Further, they didn't even send them back to me nicely - they threw shreds of cut leather pieces inside one of the boots and just sent them off that way as further evidence of the total rush job. I used to frequent Leather Spa 55th and my patronage fell off years ago after they did something very similar to a pair of $300 boots. I was very clear during my visit this time that that could not happen again with my brand new Louboutin boots that were significantly more expensive. Had the employee just told me on the spot that they were going to cut my boots too small and require stretching thereafter, I would've taken the boots, walked out and gotten them repaired elsewhere. Literally the only reason I returned to Leather Spa is because Christian Louboutin recommends them. Never again.

I have used MKC for years and I am always disappointed. They always take longer than have promised…read morewith low quality. I bought many things from MKC and there were always issues. I got a zip up that was needed for my little's reveal and almost didn't come in on time. I had to constantly be emailing and saying I needed it by a specific date, even if it costs more. When the zip up did come, it was missing half of the customizations and they refused to offer any compensation, besides a refundfor the ones they forgot to add. I got my little a jersey and the custom fabric is $30 for each side, amounting to $60. It is ridiculous, but i did it because no one else has the specialty fabric that can be used on our letters, and I really do like the specialty fabrics. I luckily did not have a rush on it, and did some customizations at a different greek apparel store, so I didn't have any issues until I got it. The quality was extremely poor for the amount of money that was spent on it. There were lose threads, the fabric wan't flat when it was sewn on, and overall it looked /messy/. I got my other little a jersey from another Greek apparel company and it was much better quality. Now, I have recently ordered two line jackets with just a few customizations. Their production time was listed as two weeks. It was ordered 2/11. It is now 3/5. The jackets have not even been shipped out yet. I do not mind it it takes a long time, I completely understand because it is all customized, however, I would just like to be told if it will take longer than expected. I asked when I first placed the order i asked If I can receive the jackets by the first week of March and they said it was "possible". Why would you tell me it was possible if it wasn't . It is not even shipped yet. I like the look of MKC and how they make the letters, and there are also not many greek apparel shops to choose from, but I think the pro's are outweighing the cons at this point. I recommend literally any other custom greek letter company over MKC Threads.

I informed Gary of the mistake, and he ensured me that he can fix both shirts within 20 mins if i don't mind waiting. I made sure to explain i wanted Disney red (the red that is the same color as Disney) along with an official Disney logo so it doesn't look cheap, and he did exactly what i wanted. Also, he does all sizes. My sister is a small, and i am and XL to 2x and we didn't have any issues with sizing. The tshirts fit perfectly and they were super soft as well. (Score!) All in all, i would highly recommend these guys (Ben and Gary) for any custom items. I'm planning another Disney trip this summer with the family, and will more than likely purchase again for all of us. Thanks so much for the great customer service, and the shirt. My then fiance and I worked with an artist to create a custom monogram which we used (and continue to use) on EVERYTHING. The dies for our invitation suite were hand engraved and, once they were cleaned, we had them framed. I love the way they look hanging up! I'm really glad we heeded Henri's advice and ordered 'extra' thank you notes that we continue to use. The price was a bit steep, on par with Mrs. John L. Strong or Smythson, but we decided that we would put the money there rather than in other places and it was completely worth it. We continue to get compliments (about a year later) and look forward to working with them again on birth announcements!
