Stopped by at the Dairy Port on a rainy Sunday and received sunshiney service with a smile. I love that Dairy Port keeps tradition of serving Giffords, as so many ice cream shops these days serve other stuff and it just doesn't come close to Giffords. When I think of a good time in Maine, I think about The Dairy Port. Men, women and kids all end up there on a sticky summer night, slurping down ice cream that satisfies the soul and takes one back to simpler times. Sweet girls work there, and happily dish out some fine flavors, which rotate on a weekly basis. They always have vanilla and chocolate, but also flavors like orange dreamsicle, pistachio, coffee and the ever elusive Biscoff. They put out happiness and that is good enough for me. It's one of the things that Bucksport does right. read more

Just had a bad experience here. it's normally great but not this time. ordered 2 pints, 1 of cookie dough and 1 of vanilla orange dream swirl. Both pints were deliberately underfilled. And I'm pretty sure they didn't even give me what I ordered. It's quite clear that instead of giving me a pint of cookie dough, they essentially mixed in scoops of vanilla as filler. I just ate 1/3 of the pint and there wasn't a single piece of cookie dough. I don't think that can happen if they only filled it with gifford's cookie dough. As for the orange dream swirl, it's quite clear that they put ice cream only around the border of the container, leaving a gaping hole down the center of the entire pint, and at the very top they covered it over..... read more

Worst ice cream I've ever had.... I ordered their equivalent of a McFlurry or blizzard where you get soft serve with things mixed into it. It was awful. It had absolutely no flavor whatsoever at all. I guess the vanilla soft serve is this generic flavorless excuse for ice cream blend in was completely unpalatable. it was supposed to be coffee and it tasted like nothing.... i'd rather drive half an hour and go to Bangor and get stone cold stone or sweet frogs. It's 1 million times better so disappointing that the only local ice cream place has commercial ice cream and flavor less soft serve you guys gotta try a little harder and I can't understand why there's lines for this place I guess because it's the only gig in town but you're better off going to Hannaford's and just buying a gallon of ice cream out of their freezer section. First off, this place is great. I've enjoyed their icecream for years. The last 3 times we've been the soft serve cones have been extremely thin! Which is a little disappointing. Normally, they're perfect . I would just recommend getting a larger size than usual. We'll definitely continue going here. Best tasting soft serve around! read more

First day open for the season. Due to the social Distancing the line was around the block but moved really well. We've been here a number of times throughout the season and the staff is always very nice! No complaints. They carry Gifford's hard ice cream also. I had a new flavor, Strawberry cake crunch. This place is a local institution and a must visit every summer. For such a small little ice cream spot the selection is amazing and its really hard to choose but frequent visits help with that problem. The staff behind the counter is always pleasant and quick with your order. Don't forget to leave a little tip with them since the funds get split at the end of the season and go to their college costs. read more

An institution in Bucksport. Delicious Gifford's hard serve, but well known for their soft serve. It is worth the usual line wait down the sidewalk, and there is not much else in terms of ice cream in Bucksport, but this place is decidedly average. They have some unique ice cream treats but I'd rather go elsewhere. Is there some charm getting ice cream right in town, right along the main street, sure...and the kids that work there are delightful and generous, but it is otherwise unremarkable. read more

Has soft serve and scoops...lots of flavors. They do dipped cones with several flavors. Try cherry over choco...like a chocolate covered cherry. They do swirl softserv. The ice cream here was delicious!!! There were many choices of hard serve and soft serve, as well as flurries and smoothies. It is cash only, but not far from the Bucksport observatory. This is a great place for I stop and get a quick ice cream after a long hike or a day at the beach. read more

There are several other ice cream shops I'd try before ever going back here in downtown Bar Harbor. Good ice cream but the service ruined it.
