Barb got a divorce and changed it from Bob and Barb's to Just Barb's. Barb is gone as is another Barb by UT the menu is the same. Nicely fried seafood is featured, but they have chicken and steak etc if you like. The scallops were especially good. Sweet coleslaw was nice and fries are fine. A hole belly clams are recommended. Service is VERY friendly, quick, willing, and accurate. Decor is plain but clean. We ate well and left happy

Fried shrimp basket. Best meal ever!!!

YOU MUST EAT HERE Undoubtedly the best meal ever. Shrimp extremely tasty & tender. Onion rings to die for. Batter was light & not greasy. And the blueberry pie!! Loaded with fresh blueberries with perfect amount of sweetness. The crust was light & flaky. Never had better. Can't wait to return.

The owner was so pleasant and friendly. Eclectic and fun places like Amandines aren't easy to find, and I am so glad we came across it. There are lots of items and local goodies for purchase. Will certainly go back on our next trip and definitely recommend to any one going to or from Bar Harbor! Great job Amandines - well done! Cheers-

Reasonably priced, small breakfast menu. Not a ton to offer in terms of pastries, but everything looked great. A freezer stocked with homemade dinner pies; Adorable Maine-centric gifts and art; An interesting collection of wines for sale... I believe it was the proprietor, who was the sole person behind the counter when we went. He was very friendly. Temper your expectations, because it is not a big French bakery, or an artisan bread or full diner breakfast kind of place. But it is quirky, satisfying, and does what it does really well.

It's been a while. I figured there would be new, and hopefully friendlier, staff. I was half right. There was new staff, but unfortunately, they were as unwelcoming as the last batch. This place has no prices on any of the premade sandwiches or pastries in their cases (why??), so we asked "Hey there, how much are your pies and cookies?". The employee was in the lobby sweeping and said "I'm not sure. Somewhere between $3- $5. Maybe more". She doesn't look up. Doesn't offer more clarity. She just shrugged this non-answer to us and carried on. It was awkward. So my husband, trying to make light of it, says "Sounds like it's up for debate so how about I give you $2.50" and this girl gives us a dour look and snaps "Well, I'm not behind the cash register so I can't look at the prices, can I?". So, we have now learned our lesson with this place twice. Not sure what it is about the culture there that results in such bad service years apart and by different people. We won't be returning.

I'm from New Orleans, where food doesn't whisper--it speaks up. After spending a full month traveling the Maine coast from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, I found plenty of fresh seafood and scenic charm, but very few dishes that truly woke up my palate. Then I walked into Hey Sailor. This place doesn't hold back. The flavors are layered, intentional, and memorable--each bite feels thoughtfully built rather than simply assembled. There's a balance here between creativity and comfort, with dishes that feel both elevated and satisfying. It's the kind of food that makes you pause mid-conversation because your attention suddenly shifts to what's happening on the plate. In a region where subtlety often takes the lead, Hey Sailor confidently turns up the volume without losing finesse. It's not just good for Maine--it's good, period. If you're someone who craves food with depth, personality, and a little punch, this is a stop worth making. For me, it stood out as one of only two places on this entire coastal stretch that truly delivered that kind of experience.

Nope. tiny. think smallest grocery store street taco wraps. they doubled them up presumably to add weight to it and to keep it from falling apart but they did anyway. which was a minor miracle because there was barely anything in it. said it would be ready in an hour. took hour and 15 min. worst of all, they left out the sauces which presumably would give these tiny things some personality. got house made taco chips to go with it, they tasted like they had been sitting around a lot longer than an hour. terrible salsa. like diced tomatoes and water. overall, fifty bucks (sixty after tip) for 4 little soft tacos and some nasty chips. I get it. it's a tough business and hard to get good help. I had my own small restaurant for 40 years. but I was always there making sure everything was as good as possible. and it was. get it together guys. put some effort into it and don't disappoint people like us traveling who don't want fried seafood or pizza, for Christ's sake.

We sat outside on Belfast Bay at a table and waited for our number to be called. The view from the back deck is spectacular. I had a single 1 1/2 pound lobster and clam chowder. I am gluten-free. I asked about the chowder and they said it was gluten-free so I had some. The chowder was OK. Not thick at all (hence GF) with way more potatoes than clams. The clam chowder was good, but I wouldn't get it again. It's just not my style. The single lobster was excellent. The lobster was sweet and there was plenty of it. When you pick it up at the counter, they ask if you want the lobster cut for you. I appreciate that. Especially with the hard shell. It makes it much easier to crack open. My kids had the lobster roll. There was plenty of lobster and they enjoyed them very much. I recommend Young's Lobster Pound. Lobster was excellent. The view was spectacular. My only suggestion would be to have someone outside wiping down the tables or have spray and paper towels available so patrons can wipe down the tables and seats before use. The tables can get sticky with all the butter and lobster juice.
