I don't know what to talk about first. The cheesecake. Their business model. Trust. Faith. Okay, the cheesecake. FRICKEN' AMAZING and DELICIOUS. Every single flavor that we tried...... and we had a really difficult time deciding which flavors to try of their 60 +/- flavors AT ALL TIMES. We didn't want to be pigs about it... well, actually, we DID want to be pigs, but we didn't let ourselves, and it was darn difficult to limit how many flavors to try out of 60. Every piece was fresh, perfectly made cheesecake, and every flavor was well represented. Being in Maine, we HAD to try blueberry cheesecake. We also tried strawberry, lemon blueberry, cannoli, apple crisp, and s'mores. Sad to say, we never finished them, but we tried them all, and they lasted a good long while. All were perfect and delicious. Now, for their business model. Imagine a business open 24/7... the doors are always open, and NOBODY is working in the storefront with the exception of people (the owners, I'm assuming) loading in more cheesecake flavors when they run out. The business is run COMPLETELY on the honor system. If memory serves, there are 3 ways to pay, but I only recall with specificity the Venmo way to pay cuz that's what I used. I think they accepted checks and one more way to pay, but I don't really recall. Let me be clear, though... it is up to each individual to be on their honor system and pay for what they want to take. Where else on this earth do you know of any retail type shop where people are left to their honor to pay for goods? I have never heard of nor seen any such thing like this before. I could have just as easily walked right out with my cheesecake slices and not paid for any of them. Nobody would have known. They don't check. They don't ask. I'm so impressed by this business model and the fact that it works !!!! I witnessed it. Everyone was paying. It truly is a testament about faith and trust, and it still works. This is just brilliant. Momo's also sells gargantuan pieces of carrot cake, which we did not try, as well as whoopie pies, which we also didn't try. If they sell other items besides the above, I just didn't see them, but I think they have quite enough already. Sixty + flavors of cheesecake alone should keep people happy. The only downside to Momo's is that we live nowhere near it, but I'm truly glad for the experience we had. read more

Oh my goodness!! There are soooo many flavors of cheesecake, as well as other sweet treats to pick up here!! Such a fun experience to go in and make some tough decisions - or don't and just get one of each! I didn't realize I needed a grab and go cheesecake experience in my life until my friend sent a reel about this place!! I got the lemon blueberry, it was amazing. So much flavor, well balanced combo of lemon and blueberry coming through! My friend got the Cherry Garcia and I tried a bite, it was good, nice cherry and chocolate pairing! We love Momo's Cheesecakes and the whoopie pies!!! We loved them so much that we had to drive back by on our way out of town. There are so many flavors that it is hard to pick a favorite but I would say that you have to start with the blueberry and add on from there. I have friends that live within an hour of Momo's, that mentioned this is where they go to pick up something delicious for birthdays, holidays, and really any gathering or party of one LOL. I'm not in the area but one or 2 times a year, so I started following them on Social media as a reminder that when I am in the area, I know to stop by. This place is one of the best 24 hour self serve shops I have EVER been to. I have been to farm stands, but a dessert stand (shop)?!?!? COME ON! Seriously amazing. It's connected to their home, there is parking in front of the store and a few to the right side of the building. If the spots are full, just carefully pull to the side of the road and patiently wait as people are coming and going pretty frequently. The place is so cute! Coolers are stocked with so many delicious treats. Mostly cheesecakes, but they also had carrot cake and whoopie pies and perhaps more that I didn't see, because I was so excited my head was kind of spinning :) Everything is well labeled, the prices are streamlined and there is a cheat sheet on the center table with payment instructions. They sell slices of cheesecakes, they also have a few variety platters available as well. There are post it notes all over the walls with customers love and thank you messages. This is definitely not one of those places where it's all hype. The hype is real, and if you have to take a detour from your trip, I highly suggest it. We were heading up to Northern Maine and just happened to be in Freeport and from there we headed to Boothbay and after Boothbay, we went to Momo's Cheesecakes . Parking can be a little tight as this is at somebody's house in a way. They put in a shed area for their business. It seems to be family owned and run. The son and the husband were the only ones that I came in contact with. Both of them greeted us and were so nice. The sun was extremely helpful to one customer who asked about gluten-free options which there is some. There were so many flavors to choose from. Of course we couldn't just choose one. I did opt for a classic flavor, strawberry cheesecake. The strawberry topping was delicious, but the cheesecake itself was honestly out of this world. It was extremely creamy no chunks. It had the perfect thickness of crust sometimes it's either too thin or too thick. My daughter got an almond joy my husband got pineapple, cheesecake, and the Elvis. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his slices. The interior is so cute . There's post notes all over with cute notes written. There is a sign in book. It was also extremely clean. read more

After following Momo's on social media for a few years we finally stopped off at her place to pick up a few cheesecake slices on our way up to Bar Harbor. Her place is just like 2 miles past the downtown Ellsworth Main Street. Its self service open 24 hours honor system. You can pay via venmo or cash. Parking is right in front. She has little mini boxes to put your cheesecake slices in. They are around $8 per slice. She also offers full sized cheesecakes and full sized cheesecakes with 3 or 4 flavors of slices for a nice variety. They also offer fudge, baklava, carrot cake and I'm sure other things I'm forgetting. Definitely worth a stop to pick up a yummy fun flavored cheesecake. There are so many different kinds of cheesecakes to choose from kind that it's a bit overwhelming, but you can always find something. I have a gluten allergy and I love that Momos has many options for us gluten-free folks as well. Today we bought the GF Turtle and GF Classic Cherry cheesecake along with a Strawberry and a Raspberry White Chocolate. I admit the slices are pricey at $8.50 a slice, but frankly, the cheesecake is so good that it's worth every penny. I was hesitant to go out of our way just for some cheesecake but after reading all the rave reviews I decided that it must be worth it. What a cute little place! Our Air BnB host recommended this place and didn't tell us what it was stating that it would be more fun to find out when we got there. You can imagine our surprise when we found that it was a 24/7, honesty-policy cheesecake shop! My partner and I signed the guestbook and left a sticky note on the wall.
