The Daisy Cafe is our first choice for brunch in Bellingham. We love the pancakes, and this time we ordered eggs with our pancakes. Sadly, our pancakes were so cold they wouldn't even begin to melt the butter on top, luckily the eggs were nice and hot. Our coffee was lukewarm this time as well. The pancakes, and coffee, were outstanding as usual, but not served hot. The dining room was pretty busy and we didn't want to send the food back to get reheated, it was a cold chilly morning and the restaurant wasn't very warm because the door was constantly open with people coming and going. read more

I work in the building and love having the cafe right down stairs. Traditional breakfast is good, I love the chocolate pancakes, and coffee is always good. We've ordered from the Daisy Cafe multiple times before, overall the breakfast and service has been great until today. We placed an order at around 12:30pm and received confirmation that we would receive our food the latest by 1:45pm. Keep in mind that the restaurant closes at 2pm on Saturday. Unfortunately that did not happen. Our order kept getting pushed back, at this point we have been waiting almost two hours for our food and right around 2pm our order got cancelled with no clarification on why the restaurant decided to cancel our order when they confirmed and said that our food was ready to be picked up. read more

So amazing! I thought it was pricey at first when I paid the tab, but then I saw the amount of food we got I was impressed! Not to mention the taste of everything was absolutely delicious! My favorite was the potatoes and the coffee. Service was spot on. Not much interaction because it's not really necessary but the short interactions we had with 2 gals that were there was very pleasant. This is one of my favorite restaurants/breakfast spots in B-ham! The interior atmosphere is sunny and wonderful, it feels like a true brunch cafe. Decent coffee from the connected cafe next door, too! Haven't tried a new dish and disliked it, and I've always left feeling taken care of by the staff. I just ordered the biscuits and gravy, one of my favorite breakfast items... tell me why they make it with hot Italian sausage here, instead of actual breakfast sausage? It tastes like I'm eating a sausage pizza... and that's not a compliment. The fennel and red pepper flavor from the sausage is an immediate red flag that they're not making it with the correct meat. This place was great. I went around 10am on a Sunday with some friends for breakfast. We walked in, placed our orders and sat ourselves pretty quickly. The person ringing us up was able to answer our questions about the menu and make recommendations which I always appreciate. The food was brought out to us within 20 minutes and it was delicious! I recommend the Eggs Benedict with lox and the Orange French Toast. The French toast didn't really taste like orange as advertised, but it was perfectly cooked and I really liked the syrup. It's a nice place in downtown Bellingham. One side is a coffee shop and the other side is a diner, although you can still order the diner food and eat it in the coffee shop side. You grab a menu from the holder when you walk in, then order the food at the counter. Once you order, they will provide you a little stand-up number and you find a table. I'd recommend making sure there is a table for you before you order because if you don't, then you'd be standing there and if your food comes and there's still no table free, not sure how you'd eat it. The food was good. I got the chicken sandwich and my wife got the french dip. You get an option of different sides such as potatoes, potato salad, fruits, salad, etc. It was busy there so it did take some time for our food to arrive, about 25-30 minutes. read more

I went back to the Daisy today for the first time since Covid, and had an awful experience. I used to be a regular because of the Galbraith Quesadillas and the great table service. Today I discovered that they have discontinued the table service, instead asking you to tip when you order and pay at the counter, before they do anything for you. I foolishly went along with that, and left a 20% tip, and they still never brought me the iced tea I paid for in spite of being asked twice to bring it. I needed the tea to take a pill before I eat (no, they don't bring water to your table anymore either), so my food got cold during the 20 minutes I waited. I ended up leaving without eating anything. Needless to say, I won't be back. I'm so bummed, because this used to be a great Bellingham restaurant. read more

We've had breakfast at the Daisy Cafe a few times. I love the atmosphere here, it has a great, old school feel to it without being kitschy. Service is always stellar. Food has been very good. Tony's coffee is excellent. The acoustics are good, so if you're with friends you can actually hear what they're saying. For larger groups, there is a back area which is part of the lobby of the building they are in. It works really well for our group of 8-10 people, and they have no problem with serving a group of that size. read more

Because of the Covid restrictions that are in place in this establishment, wearing or not wearing gloves were the least of my concerns. If you ever have a hankering for a stick-to-your-ribs breakfast downtown, the quaint Daisy Cafe fits the bill. They also serve lunch items, but I love their breakfast menu too much to ever deviate. You can get both until they close at 2:30 pm. My favorites include the California Firttata which is an Italian version of a veggie omlette or crustless quiche and the Great Northwest Eggs Benedict with salmon. Come hungry because these dishes usually come with a side of potatoes and toast. Every dish is garnished with a slice of juicy orange. It's kind of their signature statement. Lastly, when the bill arrives, it is always accompanied by a roll of sweetTARTS. I guess that is to sweeten the deal and take the sting out of paying over $10 per plate. Truthfully, I never mind paying this price for well-presented and tasty, quality ingredients, especially when there is so much of it that you need one of their eco-friendly, take home boxes for the leftovers. Remember to bring quarters for plentiful street parking during the week. Parking is free on the weekends, but much more difficult to find since everyone loves to come here for brunch. read more

We really enjoyed our fist visit to The Daisy Cafe. Some friends suggested we have lunch there so we met them on a Friday an hour before the Daisy Cafe closes at 1:30pm. The atmosphere is very comfortable, although it is a little adventure to find the restrooms. We were lucky enough to get a booth. Our lunches were amazing, the portions are generous, we did not leave hungry, and we had plenty of leftovers for dinner. I had the 1/2 order of the Thursday Night Special, and a pancake, both were very tasty, and they don't skimp on either dish. My friend ordered The Veggie Sandwich and I have to say this was the most impressive sandwich I've seen in quite some time, and made on yummy, and local, Avenue Bread. I visited this cafe with my brother a few days ago. I chose it because I hadn't been in quite a while but I had enjoyed previous experiences. A few features I like here- they offer eggs from a true free-range, local farm for a .50 cent upcharge (which I am happy to pay and support). They are next door/share a space with Union Coffee so you can get really fresh, delicious local espresso with breakfast. The bread they serve comes from Avenue Bread which is a local company (and their products are delish). Our food was good but I felt like my potatoes were slightly undercooked. My brother liked his omelette and couldn't finish it due to the large amount of food he was served. I felt like our waitress was really hard to get along with, she seemed obviously annoyed with my brother's espresso order and at the end, I had to flag down a completely different waitress for a take-home box because our original waitress would NOT make eye contact with me or note my waves as I tried to get her attention. The Daisy prior to the pandemic was always my favorite place downtown for breakfast and also a good place for lunch. Food is consistently good and fresh, service was always great. Post pandemic, there is still no table service and you order at the counter in advance, where you also are presented with tip options of 18, 20 or 25%. The food is still as good as before but the service is significantly worse. Today for lunch we ordered 2 salads and 2 iced teas, and I left a 20% tip. The salads arrived in about 20 minutes (which was fine) but there were no iced teas. I asked the server about the iced teas and if we could also have some bread and she said she would bring them. 10 minutes 2 iced teas showed up with all the ice melted, but no bread. 5 minutes after that the bread showed up. All of this was on a moderately busy lunch and there seemed to be plenty of service staff. This was about the 5th time Post pandemic that I have been here, and the service has been subpar almost every time. I wouldn't have left a 20% tip after receiving such poor service. I really love the Daisy and I will be back but I'm hoping management will do something about the service quality, and at least change the default upfront tipping options, or better yet go back to full table service. read more

I took an out of town guest to this place for breakfast after reading its raving reviews. When we came here, we ran into the President and the Provost of Western Washington University, who were also eating here. I figured if anyone knows about good places to eat, it would be them. When my order came, I was not disappointed. My Great Northwest Benedict was delicious and the egg cooked at a perfect over medium. I also had an add-on French Toast, which was also heavenly. I liked how they sprinkled a little bit of salt on the toast to balance out the sweetness of the maple syrup. Street parking was also easy to find and costs about $0.75 an hour. read more
