Overall a decent place. I won't say this place has the best ambience - to be honest I found the place a bit dirty. However they definitely have some good coffee options. I have never seen hemp milk as an option but they have that. I didn't try it but was definitely curious. I tried their cookie and was left unimpressed. The cookies didn't feel fresh and were cold and wrapped up in plastic. I don't recommend their cookies. However the coffee was good and low in sugar. Liked it. As for the barista, the service is fast. They will quickly attend to your order. read more

This old town of Bellingham is, let's just say a very interesting place. Parking wasn't a problem with bikes but if you have a car it may be a challenge. The coffeehouse has some great large bakery items. Not sure if the muffin was baked this week but overall it filled a void and held me over for our ride through Chuckanut. Little dry, iced mocha was good. I will give the worker kudos when she asked me if she could put all the items in one box instead of separately. #savetheenviroment. It was my first time coming in, maybe I will need another try. I think the aesthetics of this coffee shop is casual, inviting, and pretty hipster. I do have to say there isnt a ton of room at this location. If its you and one more or two more people this would be a good place. But not very friendly for large "parties". I noticed when others ordered they were offered or ask about a stamp card, or anything else for their order. When the barista took my order they were very short with responses, didn't ask if I had a stamp card, and left to make my coffee. This place is great! Good coffee. Fun options. Good lil pastries and good non caffeinated options that lots of places forget to think about. I love the Lavender Italian soda and they had this crazy iced tea for a little while that tasted like girl scout cookies. That was wild. The baristas are nothing but kind and helpful. They are always happy and fast to give personal recommendations which I personally love. It's smack dab in the middle of downtown so the location is great. They have art up on the walls which is always fun too look at if you get bored just waiting. I love this place but there's not a ton for me to say. Just a solid downtown coffeeshop. read more

Thought I'd treat myself to Avellino's coffee this morning, boy am I disappointed. The coffee is weak and lukewarm. The server asked, I thought, if I wanted room for cream; I asked her to repeat the question. Again I thought she asked if I wanted room for cream, so I said yes pls. When I got home (2 blocks away, I drove...) I was disappointed that the coffee was white, really white. I guess it's cream, which I did not want.  It was cold, so I heated it up. Tastes like dishwater. Bought a Pecan Caramel roll and a "donut". There is no difference in the dough for either product that I can detect, it's the same, which is basically a sweetened bread dough. Would have done better to have gone to BGO for a 'Big Debbie'. I asked if they have any of that ginger beer they've been touting, said I'd like 2 of them, pls. The server rang me up: $25.00!! I asked how much is the ginger beer - it's $8.00 for 11oz.. I didn't think there was alcohol in them but I asked if there was on account of the price, she said no. So I just bought one bottle. My rare treat for myself this morning, cold, weak undrinkable coffee, 2 tasteless lumps of dough which will end up in the trash, and $18.00 down the tube. I've not opened the ginger beer yet. Now here's why I'm mad about this. Bellingham folks are really putting in a great deal of effort to support each other and our local businesses. If you want that support to continue you need to put extra effort in your product/service. It's being done by most businesses that are open now; I see food from restaurants and food trucks being created with fresh product and creative, unique meals. Here's a thought: Don't serve us crap just because you can. Better if you just stay closed completely because I for one will not forget how I came to your shop in good faith and cheerful support and could not have been more disappointed. read more

Whenever I'm in downtown Bellingham, I always find an excuse to stop in at Avellino Coffehouse. This quaint and adorable cafe sits on 1329 Railroad Ave and has an impressive collection of classic desserts. My personally favorite is the Giant cream puff! The pastry is always perfectly baked, flakey, and moist and the sweet vanilla cream is tangy and light. It's topped with chocolate and is great for sharing....or not! They also have a good selection of coffee and drinks. The have a punch card system so I recommend asking about that for some tasty perks! I had been struggling to find a coffee shop in Bellingham, and even Seattle, that had good coffee. Avellino answered alllll of my prayers. I was beginning to think that I was doomed to drink weak and bitter coffee forever! I came across this coffeehouse as I was getting bagels next door; however, the bagel place didn't have coffee and I honestly couldn't wait any longer. I took a chance at Avellino, and I'm overjoyed that I did! They have phenomenal espresso. The taste of it was unlike any other. With good espresso comes great lattes! I'm not a fan of hot lattes, but, nevertheless, I ordered one. I inhaled it in like...tops five minutes because of how delicious it was. By far the best coffeehouse in Washington that I've tried thus far. They also have a wide selection of baked goods, but I tried the lemon bar and fell in love! Overall, the employees are sweet and welcoming, the espresso is first-rate, and their pastries are fresh and landslides beyond just good. I love this place. I went twice last week to grab a warmed veggie and cheddar biscuit with butter ... Customer service is always quick and friendly. The chai tea here is from actual chai leaves and tastes different than other mainstream places, give it a try but just know it's a different taste than what you're probably used to. I stopped in to get some work done on my computer around 7:20 on a Sunday morning. I ordered something sweet- a cinnamon roll and it was very good. I will say that Mount Bakery's cinnamon rolls are much better!.The something savory I ordered was the herbed cheese and bacon biscuit, which was not as flavorful as I'd hoped. Gluten free donuts! I almost don't need to say more! We visited Bellingham to tour WWU, and try to determine if the area was livable for a gluten free college student. Our Airbnb host recommended this bakery and we are so happy she did! The baked goods have great texture, and muffins were so moist and delicious. The vegan Morning Glory muffin was SO good! What a delightful coffee shop. My girlfriend and I are currently visiting from out of town and wanted to see what was up with coffee here in the northwest. The verdict is that we are dealing with very tasty stuff... I got the "Dolce Fine", which is an espresso shot with a bit of vanilla, ice, and cream, in a shot glass rimmed with sugar. To complement this, I went with a Turkey Milano sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich consisted of turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and sweet pimentos; all assembled using a perfectly baked croissant! The staff were very warm and welcoming. They were eager to give us information about Vancouver, BC, give us quarters for the meter, and even served our food to us. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cozy, I am sitting on the soft leather couch as I write this... The music is old fashioned and Sinatra-esque, which is a plus in my book.
