Wasted a good portion of my day here yesterday. The burrito and sandwich were good, but I could have walked to the store and made it faster. Guy next to us watched his family eat then when his food finally arrived he asked for his to go. Another table got a smoothie after their food was long gone. We moved inside after our wait time crested over 1 hour. Lady next to us watched her sandwich get cold as she politely waited for her companion's food to arrive. When it did finally arrive she asked for hers to go. The food is good, The place feels like a Portlandia episode with surly servers and comically long wait times. There were 3 or 4 people working on the kitchen. They need a Gordon Ramsey makeover on their process. Some pre work on the kitchen might reduce order times from 75 minutes. read more

Delicious breakfast. I had the chef's breakfast which included eggs (poached or scrambled), avocado, potato's, tomatoes, and thick bacon. I also got their spiced yam oat latte which is a spin off from a pumpkin spice latte. It was actually very nice. Similar to pumpkin but not. I enjoyed it for a holiday drink. First time here--walked past dozens of times--Friday 11 am. Ordering is via line after immediately walking in. You place your order at the counter and then select a table. We immediately sat down after ordering with 4 tables available. Within 10 minutes the green power smoothly was brought to the table. While waiting for the food order I'm trying to ignore the terrible 2020s pop auto-tune garbage music, but I digress. Sweet potato fries showed up 17 minutes later. It's as if they used two whole large sweet potatoes--fries are enough for two people. The smoothy is gone. Not sure the process for water--I can see the station where water is placed into bottles but no glasses. Found the last glass around to the right and after getting some water more glasses were stacked. Food arrived 21 minutes after ordering. The burrito was fantastic and the poached egg my wife said was perfect. Not bad. By the time we finished, 11:47 am, the line was nearly out the door. Definitely we would not come here with such a crowd--early is better. We may or may not be back. read more

Banter has an unusual and inefficient seating system--everyone waits in the same line for both dine-in and takeout. If there's no available seating when you reach the front, you're placed on a waitlist and asked to step aside, which creates overcrowding near the bar. Once a table opens up, you return to the front to order before being seated. While waiting, I was offered a coffee, but they completely forgot my order. I had to remind them twice--once after 20 minutes, then again another 20 minutes later. One particularly frustrating detail: despite a long line of customers waiting for tables, the bar seating was reserved exclusively for employees to eat their meals. As for the food, I ordered the crunchy chicken salad and a breakfast sandwich. The chicken on the salad was disappointingly dry, and the salad itself was underdressed. The breakfast sandwich lacked flavor, though the hot sauce (which was delicious) helped. Overall, the food didn't feel worth the price--maybe that's just inflation, but still. Would I return? Menu change up on classic brekky- would have been good to inform customer ahead- not a fan!

First time here and I loved it. I ordered the Classic Brekky which came with amazing sourdough toast, perfectly poached eggs, avocado, and grilled tomatoes all with a little sprinkle of dill and cilantro. My boyfriend ordered the Banter Burrito and it was DELICIOUS. We added some of the Banter hot sauce to our meals and it might possibly be the best hot sauce i've ever had, and i'm not even a "hot sauce person". It was labeled as 3 out of 5 spiciness. For my drink, I ordered an iced Spanish latte, which was also delicious. It wasn't too bitter or too sweet so it was a great medium. The only downside is they don't have a LOT of space, so the line to order runs directly next to a handful of tables. I would say it also took a good amount of time for the food to come out (maybe 20-25 mins) however, not only were they really busy, but I don't mind the wait when that means the food is more fresh and they take better care of their ingredients! They had amazing GF muffins that day and we were lucky to get the last two :) they used polenta which I think is a much healthier alternative to rice & oat flour. The order taker leaves after each order to bus a table, tripling the wait time. Besides that, there are other employees just standing around on their phones, and chatting together. It was a smear in the face as the line grows longer and longer and there seems to only be one person working as the others just play in your face. It is beyond tacky and unprofessional to have staff eating behind the order counter while there is a hungry, upset line waiting. Help your counter during rush, or go to your staff quarters. Tacky and entitled. Then, get this. They have a "specialty drink" that they didn't even have the ingredients for. They were out of cold brew, but refused to give a discount even though they were missing the main ingredient. Their solution you may ask? Just add more cream and ice! If you think order 1 to-go burrito and a coffee at a counter cafe would take anything less than 1.5 hours, you'll be sadly mistaken.
