Chicken Avocado Croissant with salad and...Tim's Cascade Chips!

It's in the historic Pythias Building and has been serving up some of the most wholesome and tasty food in Bellingham since 1985. A little bit of an old hippie vibe which I love. Cozy wooden booths and lots of local art work. During a recent weekend stay (at the Fairhaven Village Inn- wonderful place) a friend & I found ourselves returning to the Colophon a few times. Great food and prices. Don't forget to visit Village Books - next door -while you're there.

Definitely a place to return to! The food was as described. The homemade bagels were delicious. Cappuccino and chocolate chip cookie topped it off. Fast service even though it was a sunny, busy Saturday. Great a view of the Fairhaven Village Park. Sit outside- it is wonderful. Enjoy!

I finally got to try the food here after bookmarking it for several years. We came here after 11 am, just before the lunch rush. It got busy to almost full capacity closer to 12 pm on a weekday. It was always crowded when I was here on weekends. Maybe that was why it took me a few years to try the food too. The breakfast/brunch menu is until 1 pm, even on weekdays. That is great! I like the breakfast menu more than the lunch/dinner menu. I was tempted by the shashuka and clam chowder. In the end I decided to try the July special - biscuits and gravy. I also ordered a side of clam chowder. (Un)fortunately the server didn't bring it to me. I think he forgot to write it down. I was stuffed with the biscuits and gravy so I didn't ask him about it. He also forgot to write down my friend's added order of the turnover. The biscuits and gravy was good. I liked the gravy, very flavorful with the mushroom and sausage. The biscuits were not dry and just a bit crumbly. I couldn't finish the dish. It would be perfect if half order was available. Then I could probably have half biscuit and gravy with a side of soup. It did take a while for the food to arrive or to catch anyone's attention. Come here if you're not in a rush. It feels like being on "island time" here.

Best artichoke dip I've ever had!! Also delicious Chicken Pot Pie, and good coffee. The vibe is incredible here as it's directly next to and connected to the bookstore, I loved it. Will be back :)

We ordered food to go. We ordered chicken pot pie, a sandwich w/chips and a side of potato wedges. What they did was throw a small amount of wedges in with the sandwich and did a 50/50 mix with the chips. This is not what I asked for nor is it what I paid for. When I called back to speak with a manager, a woman, by the name of Lily.W, was handed the phone (this happened to be the same person who took my order) and she proceeded to argue with me that Colophon did nothing wrong. She said that she was not willing to do anything to fix the situation aside from come in and get a couple more potato chips. I thought this was very unprofessional of her to argue with me and a very wrong way to handle the situation. I've been coming to this place since I was a kid with my auntie but I will not be returning. Just a god-awful experience.

There'a both indoor and outdoor seating. The guy working let us know he was a fill-in for someone else, so we browsed inside the bike shop while he made our grub. We split the Lord of the Fries with spicy chipotle sauce and the Gyro. It was a ton of food for 2 people so we didn't end up finishing it all. The loaded fries are incredible - get those... especially with that spicy sauce! Super filling, so I would recommend a half portion unless you are sharing with a group. The gyro was loaded with chikn (which needed more seasoning) and impossible to hold, so we ended up eating it with a fork and skipping the pita. The tzatziki was delicious, but the gyro really needs greens/lettuce to balance it out because the proportions are off. We would order something else next time. Washed it all down with a cold one inside Evil Bikes and browsed the fancy mountain bikes. Would come back for sure to try more.

This was a pleasantly surprising experience as a vegan…read more My friend and I came in to celebrate as we are in town for hiking trip but wanted to do one nice dinner out. She made reservations and chose outdoors, not realizing it would be so cold, so I was freezing in my cotton dress. When I asked if they had any heaters, they kindly offered blankets so I took two and bundled myself up. For the amuse bouche, we got a radish with baba ghanoush and some sort of blackberry balsamic. For the first course, I got shishito peppers with baba ghanoush. The peppers weren't too spicy and paired well with the baba ghanoush. It's not something I would have probably sought out to eat myself so it was nice to have something different. For the main course, I got a shiitake, oyster mushroom rice noodle curry. This was surprisingly filling to the point that I had to waste some of the rice noodles. For dessert, I got a pear ginger blackberry fruit crisp. It was nice that you could taste that it wasn't made with a bunch of added sugar or anything. My friend got the other vegan dessert which was a coconut tapioca pudding, which I also tried, and was nice and light and tart, with some figs at the top. Service was great. Our server asked right off the bat about dietary restrictions so I told her vegan, no honey for myself. There was a very long gap between course 1 and course 2 which may have led to me getting full earlier than anticipated, and then the gap between the entree and dessert wasn't as vast. Our entire dinner took about two hours at Nourish, 7-9pm, which is longer than we expected, but the food was a pleasant experience. As a vegan, a little more protein was top of mind when reading the menu, but I love that they created good vegetable based dishes without any mock meats or excess sodium or processed ingredients. My friend also really enjoyed her food. Priced at $78 per person, it's a nice night out. We recommend.

I will definitely come back here next time I'm on the peninsula.

Meat wasn't even on our radar--we were craving something fresh, nourishing, and full of flavor. After checking into our hotel, we headed out on a walk to explore Victoria. Well...our "little stroll" turned into quite the adventure and ended with us catching a ferry taxi back. And here I thought Las Vegas was the city of walking! Still in search of the perfect healthy dinner, we asked the front desk for a recommendation. Without hesitation, she suggested Be Love, mentioning its incredible vegan menu and abundance of gluten-free-friendly options. It sounded exactly like what we were looking for. From the moment we walked in, we loved the atmosphere. The restaurant was bright, clean, welcoming, and had a fun, upbeat energy that made us feel right at home. We started with a couple of refreshing drinks and shared the mezze platter, which was the perfect way to ease into the meal with a variety of fresh, vibrant flavors. Then came the stacked tacos...and apparently our hunger had reached DEFCON 1 because I completely forgot to take a picture before we devoured them! If you've ever looked at your empty plate and thought, "Oops...I guess that was photo-worthy," you'll understand. Fortunately, I remembered dessert. We took home the chocolate caramel brownies and a protein cookie to enjoy later. The protein cookie was good, but those chocolate caramel brownies absolutely stole the show. Rich, decadent, perfectly balanced, and dangerously delicious--I would happily make a return trip just for those alone. Whether you're vegan, gluten-free, or simply someone who appreciates creative, flavorful food made with quality ingredients, Be Love is absolutely worth a visit. It was the perfect ending to a peaceful yoga retreat, and I'd gladly return the next time I'm in Victoria.

Wonderful food and drinks. I started with oyster shooters (Willapa Bay) along with a Lion's Tail cocktail. Sierra said the bourbon and lime complement each other. She gave me several recommendations for dinner. I picked the Jalapeño Chicken. It was luscious and flavorful, but the best part of it was my choice of Balsamic Brussels sprouts as my side--oh my! We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess at a table in DT Fairhaven, and our server was the bartender. After being seated, we waited a long time without anyone taking our order. We eventually asked if we had a server and were told it was him, with no apology or explanation. We ordered drinks and food, but after more than 40 minutes, we noticed two tables seated after us had already been served, finished eating, and were leaving. At that point, we asked for the check and said we would not be staying. About 15 minutes later, the server returned with our food instead of the check. We declined the meal and sent it back. He then asked if we wanted it boxed to go, which we also declined. His reaction suggested frustration rather than understanding. We never got to try the food, so we can't comment on it. The service, however, was well below expectations given the restaurant's reputation. This was lunch on July 15, 2026. We may try The Black Cat again in the future, hoping this was just an off day.
