A large tree in my front yard fell during a storm on a Friday of a 4th of July weekend. The tree fully blocked my garage. Couldn't get a hold of anyone at insurance company until Monday. When Bob P called he was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Top notch communication which was heaven sent bc communication with insurance company was not very clear, leaving me feeling a bit frustrated with the situation. I signed up for lawn services with your Troy, Michigan location in May 2026 and received my initial treatment, along with a recommendation for future lawn care. After that visit, I called the office to follow up and get pricing for the recommended services. I also called the manager, and he assured me he would be out within the next few days to take a look at my lawn and provide the pricing update I needed. However, it has now been almost three weeks, and I still haven't heard from him. I've called several times and left messages, but I have not received a return call. I was due for my next treatment in June, and it's now July. I still haven't heard from anyone. I'm not sure where the breakdown in communication occurred, but as a paying customer, I expected better service and follow-up. At no point was I rude or difficult--I simply had questions and concerns about my lawn and wanted to better understand the recommended services. Instead, I've been left without any updates or support. Because of this experience, I'll be looking for another lawn care company. I can't continue paying for services when I'm not receiving the level of communication and customer service I expect. I hope this feedback helps improve communication with future customers, because my experience with the Troy, Michigan location has been very disappointing. read more

Working with Davey Tree was a wonderful experience. Ken came out to our property for assessment and to give us a quote on the services we were interest in. Ken was professional, kind, and extremely knowledgeable about tree and yard maintenance. Ken was also very responsive to answering all of our questions and concerns after providing the quote, and was able to adjust it to suit our needs. We ended up going with a tree-trimming, and cabling of our large white birch tree. The company did an excellent job, trimming the tree down to protect our roof line, as was our main concern, were respectful of ours and our neighbors property, and did not leave any debris behind. We would definitely recommend working with Davey Tree, and we will continue working with them for our future tree and yard maintenance needs! read more

Week 4...I needed to lower this to a one star review. Daveys came out to cut the grass again. Sadly they still don't know how to clean up after a job. Once again they left grass cuttings covering the walkway. The neighbour's are the same. It's really hard to not view this as a f*** u. "Don't want grass cuttings on your porch or garden...no problem. We will leave them for you...once again." Especially when this is the second week in a row. Not sure how long before I go out and finish their job that they are being paid to do. Perhaps marc.jobe@davey.com wants to see what kind of job his guys are doing. I waited at least 4 hours to go and take pics. Not a Davey employee to be found. I will start with the service performed was not on a tree in my yard. The actual removal of the tree was safe and effective from them however this company has no regard for the mess and disaster they create for the surrounding area. My new neighbor had a tree removed, and a rather large one at that. While I recognize that there will be a mess and debris that can scatter this company has no regard for the property of the people around the area they are hired for. My pool was filled with wood shavings and droppings from the tree, had I have notice or even a courtesy heads up from this company I could have covered the pool, which has now cost me time and money to tree to clean up the mess they created. Not only make my pool unusable for (so far 5 days as of this writing) they do nothing, NOTHING to clean up the mess on neighboring property. Sure they cleaned up the yard they were in and used their blower to disperse the wood shavings (much into my yard again!) from the property and deck of the person who hired them but they had no regards for others property. I have spent hours trying to clean their mess! Be careful with hiring these people or at least as a company have regards for what you do and clean up the disaster you create! read more

We pre-paid in January, 2023, for two service visits to spray our pine trees for needle cast. They only ever came out ONE time [which was a late treatment at that]. Ever since, we have tried - unsuccessfully - via letters, emails, phone calls - to get our money refunded for the one spray they acknowledge they never came out to do [supposed to be done first week of June - today is August 3]. So if you want to get taken and smacked real hard, this is your company! It's pathetic I have to leave even one star. We will NEVER again hire this company for anything. read more

The staff is amazing. Steven, Colten, and James were here today for a fallen tree R/T storm damage. When I say they went above and beyond their job, that is an understatement. Respectful to my property, there wasn't a twig or leaf left in my yard. The team worked so well together and safely. The tree fell on the house and onto the service electrical wire which was lying on the house. You could tell they are all experienced tree service employees. I wish I could give Davey Tree a better review. We haven't had a good experience at all. We hired Davey Tree to cut down two trees---a very large one and a smaller one (that was immediately next to the larger one) along our fence line. Scheduling and communication were very poor. They only communicated to tell me when they would be here after I complained. They never told me when they were leaving each time, the crew would just suddenly disappear. I never received an estimate as to how long the job would take. (So far it has taken 14 days. They've left some of their gear in our yard and left the smaller tree standing. No communication and no response to my most recent emails about this. We had a very large tree cut down at our last place in a very tight space near power lines in less than a day. 14+ days to cut down two trees is excessive. Are they coming back? Who knows??) Davey Tree's equipment kept breaking down, delaying the project. This and the their lack of communication then delayed other projects we had scheduled at our home. I'm giving them two stars instead of none because the crew comes & works very hard when they are here they, cleaned up well, and were pleasant. I'm also giving credit for the fact that houses in our area are quite close together, and there are power lines everywhere which made the job difficult. The crew would also work really hard while they were here, and did their work quite skillfully. In total, I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone for any job. I won't hire them again to do another job once (if or when?) this project is finally complete. read more

Davey drivers have no respect for the community. My husband and I were out walking our dogs and were off on the side of the road. 2 of their trucks speeded past us going over the speed limit hitting us with mud even though we were about 8bfeet away. They clearly saw us move over and made no attempt to slow down. They also should be more cautious in a neighborhood! Makes me wonder what kind of care they put into respecting your property. read more

The crew of John, Eric and Scott showed up with masks which was an important aspect for me. They went right to work on my huge job of taking down a very large multi trunk crabapple, removing a large limb from an 80 year old, much loved Maple and removing and taking up two old Oaks. Their work was quick and efficient. They provided excellent advice and recommendations. They even cut up, into fire size chunks, the wood that we are keeping for firewood. I would leave no stars if I could. Every time Davey does any trimming for DTE in our area, I am left FURIOUS after they leave. This last time, was the icing on the cake. I actually cried because I was so upset at the state of things after they left. Workers entered our yard without permission, not even a courtesy knock, and left branches and sawdust all over EVERYTHING. They left our gates open after they left our yard, didn't even have the courtesy to close them. I'm still finding little clippings and rounds from branches that they left behind and it's been some time. You shouldn't cut trees in the winter time anyway, but what do I know?! We had another trimming company come to our house about a week ago, and they actually LAUGHED when they came to do the estimate and saw what Davey did to our trees. Upon further inspection when they actually did the trimming, the guys working told us that we'll be lucky if two of our four trees actually survive because of how bad of a hack job Davey did. They suggested we might just want to cut one of them down, but I am praying upon praying that they survive because I would hate to kill a tree for no reason... but apparently Davey doesn't have a problem doing that. read more

They were hired to remove a big tree from my yard. I guess I should have stood there and watched them the whole time, because when they were done, there was damage to my shed and my yard was destroyed. I'd give them even less if possible. They are absolutely the most over priced, unprofessional and careless 'experts' imaginable. They took advantage of my elderly parents - during a crisis - did the absolute minimum, went beyond the insurance allowance and held them accountable for $4,200! And we had the hire another service to finish! On top of it, the utility company hired them for tree wire service, they paired down a tree right AGAINST the house, so it's a needle! Now, we need to hire a service to remove it, plus grind the stump for another $1500. Absolutely, no one at that company will take responsibility. Every person spoken to here, in our yard, nor on the phone will admit to being in charge. This was a grave social injustice done to my senior parents. There's a lot more, a lot more, but beware and never, ever use them period. They need to reimburse my parents asap, before I take this to the next level. And I will! read more

At the end of last year they wanted to help a tree back to health. I paid the $500. Now less than 6 months later they say the tree is dead and want $4000. I have a crab apple tree and leaves fell super early so did some searching and found out tree has apple scab disease , checked with a few companys they wanted to inject roots but everything I had read said trees that have this they spray so found Davey Tree and had an "Arborist" come and look at my tree he confirmed what it had and yes could be controlled Ok sign me up would be 3 sprays early spring before tree buds middle and then late spring great Cost 300 for 3 sprays. So as Im waiting for 1st spray my tree is budding called and don't worry we are on schedule have not sprayed to cold and wet ok waited another week now tree is starting to flower asked again yes still on schedule she has my card right there and she says well with rain and that they had only been spraying for 2 weeks ??? ok well they have not been here and she says well 1 or 2 sprays is better than none what??? well now flowers have come and gone still no Davey Tree call again yep we are on schedule please what month and year do you plan on showing up?? guess will wait till next year and find another company. Not trying to be nasty but when your Arborist tells me one thing and it isnt sprayed in a timely manner I am a bit pissed and no sense calling Im on the schedule I really hope they dont show up and spray without speaking first or we might have a bit of a problem! read more

They were awful, cut only one side of the tree and when questioned, he said I don't know what you mean. Had to insist on trimming the remainder of the tree. Had 2 others trimmed and had to supervise the entire time . Do not hire them, do it yourself. They also had to remove a dead tree, pulled it right out of the ground, no stump left and just received a bill for an additional $100 for stump removal. read more

I am writing this review based on the estimate they left at my door. I needed two trees cut down in my back yard. On the estimate it said that for the pine tree, I had to contact DTE to trim the tree at least 10ft away from the power line "per OSHA regulations" before Davey could do the job. And I know that Davey is the contractor that does that for DTE. Talk about double dipping! I had other companies quote the job. And not one of them mentioned an issue with the pine tree, the power lines, or OSHA. And on top of all that, they were the highest quote out of all the estimates that I got. They wanted $4600. They started a lawn care service this year for fertilizer and such. I signed up for four applications. They didn't show up for the first application for crabgrass control and I had to call them several times and finally had to call their home office before someone finally came out. It was late for the crabgrass application so I am digging crabgrass out of the lawn. The second application was for fertilizer and weed control. They did show up on time for that. The third application was for grub control. They never showed up during June or July for that, which is when they said they do that application. Again I had to call and they finally came out late again and now I have brown patches in the lawn from grubs. We'll see if they show up for the final application in the Fall. Maybe they'll get here after the snow starts flying. I completed a "satisfaction survey" on their website and a lady from the local office called and said the manager was on vacation but would be back Monday and would call me then. He never called! I can't wait for their call next Spring wanting me to sign up again! read more

Had them out for a quote, after taking the morning off to meet them, the "quote" turned into a scolding session! They were rude, condescending, and in the end did not even leave a qutoe. In a nutshell we were told the tree should have been removed five years ago and that we should call Edison... Thanks Davey - We've called Edison several times, even had their tree trimmer in my back yard, and they have refused everytime! Also would like to thank you for pointing out the obvious that the tree should have been taken down sooner - in case you haven't noticed there is a bit of a recession and while my family was getting by on one income a $1000 tree removal just wasn't in the cards, so thanks for making my wife feel bad about that again! Outstanding! Professional! Did the work promised and more. We live on a very wooded lot in Dearborn and over the years have had to have a number of trees removed. We called several local companies to remove large trees from our backyard and number of those companies listed here never returned calls. Davey Tree Company might have been a little more expensive than one of the other quotes but after watching them do the work "you get what you pay for" and we got AAA professional service. Just called Davey tree 4 times to get an estimate. No one answers the phone, all you get is a recording. This from a company that claims to be the biggest tree company in the country. They are either to cheap to hire office staff or give their reps a cell phone. I've used them years ago an the service was great. Apparently things have changed. read more

My wife and I noticed on Sunday that our Pear tree in he backyard was splitting. I called Davey on Monday, they came out on Tuesday to look at it and it was fixed today. Absolutely awesome service and will most definitely use them again. read more

The two man crew of Joe and Felippe did an excellent job. They were on time, and very friendly. Joe was very conscientious about not cutting too much of my neighbor's tree that was hanging over our fence. He was great at shaping the trees. When he was done, the trees look beautiful. He and his partner were careful not to step landscaping. They also cleaned up very well. And they made quick work of a big job. I usually dont write my bad expirences on here but this one takes the cake. We had our tree trimmed for DTE by Davey and the process was quick and simple. No complaint on that. They ignored me when I originally asked how long it would take. I shrugged it off. Next, when they were finished, they left all of the woodchips on my driveway and on the sidewalk along with a million twigs. They clean our neighbors yard (which didnt have service) and all of our other neighbors who had tree trims. We called and no one answered, we walked down the street and asked the representative why they ignored our clean up and the man said the crew was done for the night. We were angry, but hey, cant do anything about it now. So we went home and cleaned up. Took pictures to prove all of the mess and an hour after we talked to the rep, they came back and took pictures of our yard then continued to rake the leaves even when we told them to leave the yard alone and just worry about the street and pavement. They ignored us ONCE AGAIN. Not only were they very rude, they blocked the entire street for about a half hour and my husband went outside and he had to literally yell for them to actually listen and talk back to us. Never again will I let them do anything to my yard regardless if it is per DTE. read more
