New Irish pub right on 6th street in downtown Austin. This is a great, convenient spot to start your night or grab a late night bite as they serve food until 1:00am! I stopped in after a comedy show at the nearby Comedy Mothership and had a great experience. On a Thursday night around 9:30pm, my group of 5 was able to be seated immediately. The service was exceptional, everyone was very friendly and attentive. There was a lot of thought that went into the design/creation of this bar with everything being imported from overseas including over $200,000 worth of artwork covering the walls. The menu offers great options, specifically the all day Irish breakfast and a delicious corned beef sandwich. No TV's unfortunately, but that's intentional as the owner wanted to promote conversation. Highly recommend checking this place out! read more

The atmosphere is busy, bright, and a bit boring taken en masse. The food was WAY better than I expected. The corned beef & braised beef rib sliders easily jockey for the top of my Top Things Eaten 2024 list. The cocktails (Taking Liberties & Third Half) showed up too, but at $20 each they had better've. In all, a solid 4-star dining experience. Lucky for all parties, we were seated at the bar. Our attending (forget his name) was super sociable and didn't lose a single step while holding several conversations. He really brought our corner of the bar together and literally made our night by dropping clutch intel on us about what was going on elsewhere. Cute cocktail bar / pub on dirty sixth with a great food menu as well. We went on a Thursday after work around 4:30pm and it wasn't too busy. The interior has a traditional Irish pub vibe with some modern touches, like a gallery wall all around the place. The have an expansive drink menu with some great cocktails as well as some good mocktails! I got a TLC mocktail and it was great. I'm a huge fan of The Dead Rabbit near Wall Street - the OG. So I was excited to read about this opening up in Austin. I didn't realize until I parked and started walking that it's in the midst of 6th Street - that was surprising. We were greeted by "bouncers" who were probably just subtle security - it's on 6th Street. There was no host or hostess, no one to check in with, and only one server covering the whole place. They had "reserved" on nearly all the tables -- and getting an online reservation was actually hard -- but we were only the 3rd group of people there the entire night. I'm not a fan of false demand constraints to boost a place up only to show up to a nearly empty bored bar. Dear marketing team, that's not a smart strategy. The fries or "chips" were terrible and we didn't even eat half of them. The drinks were super pricey, which is okay if you deliver on something unique and memorable and tasty. Many of the drinks were pre-mixed and everything I asked our server about, was supposedly "imagine a margarita with xyz". I didn't come to pay $18-$20 for a cocktail only to be handed a pre-mixed margarita. I was highly disappointed and frustrated. The two highlights were our server, Scarlet, who was really sweet. And the ambiance - was amazing. I hope the owners look into their F&B program. They are supposedly opening several new locations in the next few months and I'm afraid that The Dead Rabbit brand has now become a quantity-over-quality story. P.S. The Dead Rabbit is a nice addition to dirty sixth street. Offering great food, drinks, and atmosphere. The interior is really beautiful and is similar to their New York location. My one complaint about this place it is not cheap. Expect to pay $15-$20 a drink the drinks are good but you will leave here with an expensive check. I got the frozen Irish coffee it reminds me of an adult slurpee and really delicious. It wouldn't be an Irish meal without Scottish eggs. A big recommendation from me the coating and texture of the egg was delicious along with everything filled in the egg. If you go on Sunday you can order the prime rib. One of the best items on their menu and enough for two people. The prime rib was tender and filled with flavor and a very big portion. The vibes at Dead Rabbit are 10/10 with live bands, great staff, and with killer drinks. read more

The interior and decor of Dead Rabbit is absolutely stunning. Beautiful. The holiday drink menu dad very pricey craft cocktails. My friend said they were pretty strong alcohol wise. They had one of my favorite hazy beers, Tender Robot., that got 5 stars right there. The staff were very friendly, but seemed short staffed. The couple next to us asked for Baileys and coffee, the server said they ran out of Baileys but had a substitute. Wow Irish pub and out of Baileys on a Sunday brunch time. They were out of Guinness as well, which was a shocker to me. I love corned beef and make a mighty delish one, so I ordered the corned beef sandwich. Skimpy on the corned beef for that price. The corned beef was tasteless as was the coleslaw they topped it with. The bread and fries were good. I think this place needs to get their act together. The New Yorkers are laughing. Excellent place for a drink and a bite. The best scotch egg I've ever had, and truly home made chicken pot pie. The setting was dark and moody with Irish music playing and my server was a charm. The ambiance of this place is very nice/cool! That was my favorite part. They do have good cocktails. I got the first and Formosa and I think it was similar to a watermelon margarita. However, I feel as if the food is very overpriced. For the appetizers you get 3 or 4 things. We got the pork sliders and it came with 4 so if you have a bigger group you'll have to double up on apps which will add a significant amount to the bill. And being an Irish pub, we wanted to try a couple things on the menu. There were 8 of us and we all kinda thought the food was mediocre. I got the fish and chips and they were good but nothing special! The service was great though! This place is definitely better for drinks and small bites but I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for a good dinner/entree place. The real nightmare before Christmas. I had super high hopes from this NYC transplant. We came here with a pretty large group for their holiday bar event. The line moved pretty quickly despite having a ton of space inside the bar, which made me wonder why are we waiting in line...? Once we got in the space is pretty big with two sides to the bar, the sawdust on the floor was a nice touch, although it was pretty sparse. Made me think of the nyc location, which honestly I really enjoyed (especially the drinks). And well here is where the nightmare begins, a bunch of us got a first round of their holiday drinks and they were all for the most part awful... everything was overly sweet and just not up to the par of dead rabbit drinks. Most ended up switching to their standard drinks, which is annoying considering they are curating special drinks for the holidays. Oh and btw I got a round and spent nearly 100$ on 4 drinks. Yikes! She was insanely understanding towards my price range and also my preferences for liquor and lead me to ordering me new favorite cocktail. Went into this place for the holiday drinks- the walls and spaces are fully decorated in Christmas spirits. You won't find any big space being abandoned in this bar. I'm so impressed with their drinks after being skeptical with any kinds of bourbon whiskey drinks. After trying "Jingle All The Way", wow it's so refreshing! The shredded cinnamon sticks on the top of a giant ice cube adds a great taste to the holiday spices in the drink! Then I went trying Merry Berry, another good drink but strong alternative to tequila. Finally, based on the bartender's recommendation, I tried Blitzen and it's a home run out of the park.
