No matter what day or time I pass by The Dearborn, it is always bustling!! Call it a deterrent or a curiosity, I needed to find out what the fanfare was all about. The hostess was a bit snippy when I asked about getting a table, "as if" I should know better than to ask without a reservation. So I put my name on a waitlist and went to the bar area for a drink. About 35-minutes in, I received a text that a table was available. A different hostess who was much more chipper took me to a backroom area that was very full and the table had barely enough room to shimmy myself into my seat. So much for keeping "social distance" here, but I digress... the decor of the room was nostalgic Chicago yet still contemporary. The menu caters to mostly "American food" and from watching other plates be delivered to tables, I was prepared for sizeable portions. My waiter highly recommend the fish and chips or the Midwest Bourbon Fried Chicken. I opted for the Chicken and WHOA it was delicious and suprisingly filling. It's not the healthiest menu option but I would still highly recommend it. The skins were crispy and the meat inside tender. Housemade pickle chips were awesome too. Overall a savory delight. The waiter was very attentive throughout my meal and my coffee and water stayed continually full. Gotta love that!! I should also make mention that the restaurant manager circulated around interacting with all table guests. I appreciate that a lot, especially since I have some food allergies that she wanted to be sure what I ordered was going to be okay. Thank you for being so caring Sarah!! She is Dearborn's number 1 fan and everything she recommended was a hit! She's energetic and very sweet! Every thing she recommended was 100% on point!!! Our waiter was super attentive and friendly and generously gave us a military discount (our son just graduated from boot camp) which I appreciated! We ordered the truffle Mac n cheese with sausage added, brussel sprouts, little gem Caesar salad and a cheeseburger. All the food had a good flavor but my salad was overly drenched with dressing. That made it a little difficult for me to finish but that is my only critique. Interior is modern and I bet their wine list and cocktails are delicious. Went in for brunch on a weekend. It was busy but we were seated right away. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the pork carnitas, that was very good and flavorful, meat was tender. They have a pastry chef who freshly prepared the dish. It was warm, gooey, cinnamon-y perfection! We also still love the everything house Parker rolls and the Midwest fried chicken (which was recently mentioned as the best chicken on Insta @bestdatefood. The Dearborn was our first meal when we got into Chicago, and it was...good. Not bad or great. Just good. Not what was great was their ceviche, which had a delicious citrus flavor to it and very fresh fish. My cousin and I shared two dishes: the fish and chips, which were well battered and golden-crispy, and the baby kale and mushroom pizza, which had a good flavor to it, but the pizza crust was too thin, enough that it started to get sloppy pretty quick. My cousin ordered the shrimp and grits, but it was so flavorless that she sent it back to the kitchen. The server was very kind and patient with us. We had cocktails too, though I couldn't tell you what I ordered (something with peaches?). Honestly, I had to squint to remember this meal. It was fine, but forgettable. read more

We have so many good burger places in Texas it's actually a bit harsh to try to compare a Chicago burger to one of ours, but it was still ok. The pizza tasted good, but definitely could have a bit crisper crust. It was a NY style pizza and, at least for me, a crispy thin crust is what makes a really good NY pizza. She did really enjoy the cocktail. I had a sip and would have to agree that it was pretty tasty. 1 Star Overall: 3 Stars It was an alright lunch. Nothing to write home about. So incredibly disappointing! Food was alright, but the service ended up being terrible! Walked in with high hopes, The Dearborn has had a great reputation among my friends. The hostesses checked our vax cards and IDs (lots of points for this!) and we were seated promptly. Menus and waters were delivered and we were greeted right away. Signature Cocktail menu left a lot to be desired, but the beer and wine list is plentiful. Ordered first round, all good. Ordered lunch (Chicken tinga tostadas for me and the famous Dearborn burger for my husband). Both cocktails and lunch came out super quick...again this is all good and wonderful! I was excited that this place had lived up to it's hype! Well, that was the last time we saw or server or anyone. We ordered the seasonal vegetable quiche to start and it was very delicious. It was moist with broccoli, peppers, and Swiss cheese and the arugula was a perfect topping. For our main entrees we ordered their fish and chips and hash brown and duck gravy. I was a little disappointed in the fish and chips. Given it beat Bobby Flay, I was super excited to give it a try! Sadly the oil didn't not seem to be fresh and the rainbow slaw didn't have much flavor. As for the hash brown and duck gravy, it was very juicy, warm, and flavorful. The food and drinks are good, but it is on the expensive side. Ambience is very nice. And the service is good. And the seats are very comfortable. The booths are really nice and cozy and there are some that you can draw curtains for privacy. Fish and chips $25 are really good as the batter is light and fluffy and the inside fish looks like fluffy cod. It's very flaky and well done and it beat Bobby Flay in 2019. The french fries were very light and crispy and the pizza $25 had a lot of flavor and it was very thin like New York style, which I love, and there was cornmeal of some sort on the bottom so it made it crispy. The pizza can be shared by two people easily. The beignets are good. Were a little crispy on the outside very soft a tiny bit chewy and soft on the inside with Nutella sauce on the side. This area is perfect for tourists as well as for people who go to the shows. But parking is a hassle. Just take the train. Oh and there's live music on Sundays from 12-2pm. Really lovely! read more

Elizabeth and I had some formal business meetings to attend in the beautiful city of Chicago, so, naturally, we went to Yelp to look for an exquisite dining establishment. The Dearborn caught our eye, so I made a reservation. What really caught our eye were the amazing appetizers. We wanted to try them all, but we ended up only choosing three. We chose the ceviche, midwest fried chicken, and prosciutto and white cheddar croquettes. All of these were mouthwatering and flavorful. My favorite was the ceviche. You could taste the lemon and lime juice with the shrimp, salmon, fennel, and cod in every single bite. Additionally, they added a bit of orange. A surprise for sure, but a welcome one! It had to be one of the best ceviches I've devoured in recent memory. The fried chicken was also delicious. While the photo looks like it is a heavy dish, it was incredibly light, sweet, and easy on the stomach. I don't know about you, but fried food can mess with my stomach sometimes. This chicken was incredibly easy to eat. I felt like I could eat 5 more plates of it. The chicken itself was covered in a sweet maple glaze that never felt like too much. The chicken was perfectly sweet. They also provided a side of their house-made hot sauce. If you know me, you already know I was absolutely drenching this chicken in that sauce. The hot sauce was very thin as opposed to the very thick hot sauces I am used to. It was nice for a change. However, I do wish it was a tad bit spicier. Regardless, I can't recommend that appetizer enough. As for the prosciutto and white cheddar croquettes, these were great. The chipotle-yogurt sauce on the top made them fantastic. My trip to The Dearborn was a memorable one. The service was quick, and I cannot ask for more as a paying customer. I hope to revisit this establishment in the future to try their main courses. FOOD: We ordered the Brussels sprouts, burger Wellington, and pepperoni pizza. My cousin and his girlfriend really enjoyed the burger Wellington. His girlfriend liked the Brussels sprouts, but he thought they were very acidic and had a mustard taste. I do not like mustard, so just a heads up in case you also don't like mustard. As for the pizza, I thought it was pretty good! SERVICE: Excellent service. Our water was never low. The waiter was very attentive. This place is absolutely amazing. Reservations are a must to snag a table! We started off with their famous Midwest fried chicken and it's easy to see why it's so popular. The chicken is coated in a maple mustard glaze that I was apprehensive about initially since I was worried it would be too sweet. I was thankfully wrong as it added this beautiful sweet vs savory mix that worked so well together. The hot sauce I wish was spicier, but it was still a phenomenal dish. Now, those fish and chips have got to be some of the best I've ever had. No wonder they beat Bobby Flay! The batter is equally light and crisp, but most importantly, it is flavorful! Not uncommon to have some pretty bland batter, making the dish reliant on the tartar sauce or remoulade, so it had a lot going for itself aside from the sides. Rainbow slaw had a nice amount of mayonnaise, not too soggy, not too dry or acidic. Fries were impossible to stop eating. Burrata was good but I've had better. The bread it's served with is fresh, toasted and buttery which kind of overwhelms the taste of the burrata. Unfortunately, this wasn't a good service experience. It's totally possible the server was spread too thin but for whatever reason, he was very inattentive. We waited for the initial greeting. We ordered, received, consumed and had dirty plates removed from appetizer before he came back to take our dinner order. We ordered another round of drinks (wine), our meal was almost done when finally received. My boyfriend loved his Fish and Chips, he also loved my Burger Wellington. I tried the breading on his fried fish. It was crispy and buttery. His fish also looked moist and flaky. The fries were just ok. Came here during a work conference on a Tuesday evening and were able to be seated immediately. We were excited to try our first meal in Chicago and we ordered the Brussels sprouts to share, and for our mains got the burger and the fish and chips. All the food tasted great and the portions were big, the only reason I have to do three stars is because my friend made a note to the server that she had severe allergies. Upon checking, the server said that she has nothing to worry about and that they can handle her allergies just fine. Later that night, however, my friend became extremely ill (we only ate here the entire night) so suspect there was some unfortunate cross contamination. I have frequented the Dearborn for a before theatre meal. As a pescatarian (no meat/no shellfish) the menu options are slightly limited. However, what I have had (catch of the day, fish & chips, meze plate) has been good. Went a couple of days ago for a late dinner and got a lovely seat in the window. My friend and I split a salad entree and the fish and chips which are reputed to have "beat Bobby Flay". The salad was good but pricey for the size and the fish and chips tasted like the lid was off of the salt shaker when seasoning the dish, very disappointing. Also, the F&C previously came with a ginormous heap of Cole slaw which seemed a little skimpy this time.
