My uncle brought me here 30ish years ago when we were in town for a meeting. What I remembered was an old school steakhouse setting with superb service, excellent steaks and great drinks. Fast forward thirty years and I'm in town and a colleague asked if I'd ever been here. So I told her about my experience and she immediately said let's go! So a group of us went in and it's just as I remembered. Amazing service, spectacular steaks and a bar tender that understands how to make a manhattan. The portions were large, my steak was so tender that I didn't really need a knife. Another amazing experience. I will not wait another 30 years to come back!

We had a reservation for this restaurant on Friday (my birthday) night before Mother's Day and received outstanding service from Fanny! We did have trouble on the way there as we were running a little behind and made multiple attempt to contact the restaurant ahead of time to let them know, my Fiancè was just placed on hold several times or hung up on. However I called and was able to speak to Debbie who immediately helped and passed the message on. The restaurant itself was amazing, we loved the classic music and the service we received from Fanny, she was kind and explained the menu and made my birthday dinner very special with a crème brûlée for dessert! We really do appreciate her service and the historic dinner at this restaurant. Recommend for any special occasions!

The ambience is very romantic. The second floor feels a liitle more open than the first floor. The patio might be interesting during the summer. Service is excellent. We never had to ask for more water or to replace a utensil. The bread was crusty and warm. My companions enjoyed both martinis that they ordered. Our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. The wait staff did not blink when we shared the appetizers and entrees. We tried the Waldorf Salad which was light and balanced. Everyone liked the steak tartar. The lobster special was 16oz, but the flavor was mild and a little overcooked. The dry aged rib-eye was hard to cook evenly. All the sides including the Mac and Cheese are big portions for sharing. The Godiva Lava cake and crème brulee were delicious. We saw the Carrot cake and the Alaska came out for another table and they were huge. We need to bring more people next time so we can try it.

I really enjoyed this restaurant, our waiter was great very knowledgeable and funny too. The food was very good the Colorado rack of lamb with the mint jelly was superb. Any restaurant with sweet potatoes on the menu is good in my book and this place has a good variation of it. I would recommend it.

Went to Chicago chop house for my boyfriend's birthday and it did not disappoint! Service was amazing, where our server offered delicious recommendations and even a personalized menu, which she rolled up and gave to us at the end of our meal. She also gave us a crème brûlée to celebrate the birthday which was Ordered roasted tomato burrata for appetizer, Delmonico steak, truffle Mac n cheese, and creamed spinach. Steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and our other favorite was the tomato burrata. Took the rest to go and used it as a pasta sauce the next day! Would recommend for any special occasion.

We went out to celebrate new beginnings and they gave a special version of the menu that says congratulations as well as the delicious creme brulee. Our server, Grace, was very friendly and knowledgeable and all of the staff encountered were friendly and kind. She made wonderful recommendations like the lobster bisque instead of the French onion or the steak butter with herbs versus the garlic one. These were fantastic suggestions and were delicious. This was my second time here. Enjoyed the crab cakes and meatballs over the calamari. The brocolini was crisp and flavorful. The mains were both quite filling and satisfying. Took some carrot cake to go. Also tried both the mocktail and cocktail version of this berry drink and it was refreshing. Really looking forward to the next visit.

The food and service was 10/10! Very nice for date night or dinner with friends. The restaurant's soft music and candlelight gave it a romantic ambience.

Absolutely amazing. Was recommended to us by a friend. The staff Elena was our waitress and was delightful and pretty. Great smile and attitude. Very helpful. The food is so good. We loved every bite. The decor is rich with history and a walk to the bathroom is like a walk back in time. Multiple levels and great vibes. Go here

Chicago Chop House delivers the perfect mix of historic Chicago charm with an updated, elegant feel. The menu is loaded with great options our lobster escargot starter was excellent, and the steak was cooked perfectly. The wine list is extensive yet surprisingly affordable, making it easy to pair the meal without breaking the bank. Service was flawless from start to finish. Grab the Tommy Gun off the wall of gangsters for a fun picture. A true Chicago classic worth every visit.

This dish just feels right. The steak is well cooked, juicy, and full of flavor, with a perfect sear that adds a smoky depth. The pasta is creamy, rich, and comforting without being too heavy, with every bite coated in a smooth, flavorful sauce. On top of that, the service makes the experience even better friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. Orders come out on time, everything feels well taken care of, and you're made to feel comfortable from start to finish. It's the kind of place where good food and good service come together effortlessly.

Always up for trying a new steakhouse and we came across Chop House while walking around the neighborhood. We decided to make a reservation for Thanksgiving! We arrived -20 minutes early for our reservation and had to wait closer to our reservation time which is understandable. Unfortunately, they allowed guests to eat at the bar so we had to stand in the waiting room which caused confusion when guests were trying to check in w/ the hostess. They were very busy so the food was delayed and didn't come to the table hot. We started w/ the grilled oysters which were great for an appetizer. I ordered the sea-bass which was seasoned well just came out like warm. My guest ordered the cowgirl steak which she said tasted good and we shared the brussel sprouts and the baked potato. The stars of the evening were the wait staff, hostess, and our waitress Fanny! Fanny provided great recommendations, communicated throughout the evening about our food, and always kept a smile on her face. THANK YOU, FANNY!

Definitely a great place to fill your belly!

From the $$$$ look...what is their typical bill at the end...at least a rough total? Also...has anyone ever use their Groupon deal?

When we were there it was $707 for 3 people with drinks and they add a service charge of 18% which is not the tip. Tax was about $80 and service charge was $80. We did not leave a tip because we thought the service charge was the tip included.… Read more

Do they serve dinner as early as 12pm ( afternoon )?

No they do not. Hours are 4:30 - 10:30 pm I believe and that is when the dinner menu starts. Sunday brunch is a completely different menu, but is very good.

Is there a wine corkage fee?

I did not bring my own wine but I’m sure there is a corkage fee. You can call and ask.

    Do you need a jacket?

No, a jacket is not needed. Thank you!

    Do you need reservations?

Yes, this place is very exclusive.

Is this place owned by Gordan Ramsay?

The bartender was sooo sweet, very attentive and quick, and made sure my soda was always topped off. I loved the vibe and the moody lighting! The menu is definitely River North prices -- nothing terribly surprising bht on par for the neighborhood. At the time of our visit, cocktails were $15+ and the fry basket was $10. I get why it is always booked. If I was to come back, I would do it all again except ...maybe instead of the burger... try something else hmm

(Kari's Rating 710)…read more Although I've been here many times before, guilt bar rarely disappoints. It is extremely dark when you're inside almost like a dining room parlor so if you have bad eyes, bring a flashlight. It's relatively loud and the servers are very attentive, refilling water, and checking in on your needs. We started with a round of drinks, including an espresso martini, as well as a Hugo spritz. The espresso martini was nice because it was made for cold brew, which made it actually creamer, which was really great. It's good I mean we also proceed to order the Bronzino as well as the French dip with the side brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts were tangy and sweet with a vinaigrette finish, but they were delightfully, smoky as well. The Bronzino was delicious and very filling, however, I did end up getting a decent amount of tiny bones in the first half which kind of made me slow down in the second half. The French tip was also very large, with four pieces as well as a warm au jus. However, the ratio of meat to bread was slightly off with a little extra, toasted bread, being a little too much. Overall, it was a pretty great dinner, I would definitely come back in a group, but I'm not sure if I would come back alone.

I also was able to order an amaretto sour, which they made with freshly hand beaten egg whites, which was a nice cherry on the top. As far as the whiskey flights go, I think the best one was the Vietnam flight because it had a slightly lemongrass twang and was a little bit lighter than the other two. The heaviest one was the Wisconsin which came with a little bit of a bite at the end, but it still wasn't bad if you're trying to blackout on a $15 budget. I would definitely come back with a larger group this seems like a great place, but is a little bit loud- so if you be prepared to yell or wear earplugs.
