Stopped in to watch a sports game, and they hooked us up with a booth with a personal TV - score! We ordered pretzel bites and my partner had a few beers. They were out of the first beer he ordered, the back up IPA option was ok. Service was prompt for the most part. Pretzel bites were really tasty but needed more cheese sauce for the portion! Sweetwater Tavern was a disappointing experience. Before I dive into the negatives I'll highlight the pros of the restaurant. The inside of Sweetwater Tavern is massive, so they could easily accommodate a variety of party sizes. The Strawberry Basil Margarita I ordered was strong and tasty. The biggest disappointment is that they don't have a happy hour. My friend and I only visited Sweetwater Tarvern because we were interested in going to a happy hour. On their website it states to ask the bartender about their happy hour specials but the bartender told us they don't have happy hour. We opted to stay since it was late and we would miss any other happy hour in the area. The food was subpar at best. I ordered the Nashville popcorn chicken and it came out fast. I will say the chicken tastes like how they make it in Nashville, extremely spicy but flavorless. I could only eat a few before deciding it wasn't worth it anymore. For the price of the dish ($14-$16) they should take a few moments to season the food. The chicken tasted like frozen chicken so I don't recommend it. Overall the drinks were decent, but for the price I rather find a place that has equally good drinks and food. read more

My review is based on service, not the food. I'd give the food an 8/10 just because the meat was missing tenderness. It was flavored well however it was dry and I would've loved some broth to go with it even though I know it's a flatbread. I also had the bottlenectar beer, which I highly recommend. We arrived after 11pm, close to last call and our server, you could tell was not happy. Walking to this location wasn't the best idea but it was 12min from the hotel and from the moment we walked in we felt rushed. At that point we should've known better and gotten a pizza somewhere to go. We were halfway through our meal when the sever came up and placed the ticket on the table. No big deal we kept eating and talking. She came up a couple minutes later and goes so we closed 2 minutes ago and I'd like to check out now. Wow! I am not used to that kind of service. I thought I wrote a review but I guess it didn't go through. This restaurant is ALLERGY FRIENDLY. The sous chef, our server, and the manager of the restaurant came to our table to help me select an item that I could eat. My allergy list looks like a grocery list (yes, it's that bad). We found a dish that I could eat and something I wanted to eat as well. The chicken tortilla soup was delicious! The chicken was tender and melted in my mouth. The temperature of the chipotle was perfect- not too hot and not too mild. Just right! My family's dishes were yummy too. It was clear since they ate everything on their plate. The customer service was excellent. Our server was friendly and extremely helpful. To top it off, the server gave us a large table with a great view of the large television so we could watch the FIFA World Cup. I would go here again. Thank you so much for keeping me safe! We came on a Saturday night and they told us there would be no wait inside, although it was about 15 minutes until we were seated, despite the restaurant being pretty empty. They're running a deal right now that if you sign up for their rewards program you get a free appetizer, but what is not revealed is that you can only do one per table, even if everyone signs up. We went with the pretzel bites with beer cheese. The serving was quite small and the cheese was a thin liquid that could hardly stay on the pretzel. It was quite nice we got it for free though. For the entree I ordered the Italian Beef Flatbread, but without the Italian beef. The server then asked if I wanted the giardiniera, to which I confirmed I didn't- no meat. It came with giardiniera on it, and when I asked if they could be removed because I just wanted a plain flatbread, the waiter seemed annoyed. He later came out to confirm that I just wanted sauce, where I explained I wanted cheese too, just no meat. It was eventually brought out correctly but the whole ordeal took a very long time. Several people at the table wanted water after that point but the waiter never came again to check on us. On top of everything, the flatbread was pretty unappealing, although maybe the meat would have helped with this aspect. I can understand that my request may have been a little odd, but the service was severely lacking, and I would not recommend it. read more

I've visited a few times, and it's always a solid option. They offer a nice variety, and the prices are pretty reasonable, especially given its prime spot right in the heart of downtown. Drinks were pretty delicious, I had the blood orange old fashion with brandy instead of whiskey because I like Wisconsin sweet. My daughters ordered a burger and the blackened chicken Caesar wrap and commented on how good they were. I ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer as my dinner and it was pretty tasty. The food was a hit or miss. We ordered the Baked Spinach Dip and Fish with a side of tots. The flatbread that came with the dip was hotter than the dip itself. The dip needed some seasoning, but the addition of fresh tomatoes on top was excellent to cut thru the cheese and heartiness of the dish. The tacos were kind of bad. No seasoning whatsoever and a very fishy taste compared to other fish tacos I've had in the past. The soft taco shell felt and tasted on the stale side, like all they did was microwave it and call it a day. The sauces in the taco needed some (a lot of) kick. The tots were perfectly salted and were the best part of the dish. If you're in Chicago, I'd skip this restaurant and go elsewhere. read more
