On a long weekend for St. Patrick's Day amidst a crazy busy crowd - I'd argue this was our best meal of the four days we spent in the Windy City. All three of our crew loved their dishes - including a few specific to St. Pats (the Irish Mac and cheese). I, of course, had the cajun chicken linguini. It really hit the spot after not having pasta since home. Not overly spicy - but the sriracha cream sauce caught my attention right away - great flavor! There was a large volume of peppers and onions and a smaller amount of chicken - but overall it balanced well. Check out Sweetwater if you are in town!

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was peaceful. The service was lacking, but it could have been the time of day. The lack of communication and organization was very obvious as we asked 3 people for a box.

We walked from The Navy Pier and needed to stop for some late night bites because we were naturally hungry. The late hours really was a winner. We were seated and received good service. Our food came out pretty quickly. The restaurant has a full bar, music and dim lighting. This was my first time dining at this restaurant chain so I will definitely return.

Stopped in for lunch with coworkers from our Chicago hotel. Was within walking distance, that was good with the cold weather. Inside decor was very nice. Service was great as well. I got sweet water burger with tots. It was cooked perfect and great flavor. Thick burger non of this smash crap. Tots was crispy.

Stopped in to watch a sports game, and they hooked us up with a booth with a personal TV - score! We ordered pretzel bites and my partner had a few beers. They were out of the first beer he ordered, the back up IPA option was ok. Service was prompt for the most part. Pretzel bites were really tasty but needed more cheese sauce for the portion! Bill was higher than expected for what we ordered. Overall it was a solid place to watch the game, really appreciated the booth view of TV.

Sweetwater Tavern was a disappointing experience. Before I dive into the negatives I'll highlight the pros of the restaurant. The inside of Sweetwater Tavern is massive, so they could easily accommodate a variety of party sizes. The Strawberry Basil Margarita I ordered was strong and tasty. The biggest disappointment is that they don't have a happy hour. My friend and I only visited Sweetwater Tarvern because we were interested in going to a happy hour. On their website it states to ask the bartender about their happy hour specials but the bartender told us they don't have happy hour. We opted to stay since it was late and we would miss any other happy hour in the area. The food was subpar at best. I ordered the Nashville popcorn chicken and it came out fast. I will say the chicken tastes like how they make it in Nashville, extremely spicy but flavorless. I could only eat a few before deciding it wasn't worth it anymore. For the price of the dish ($14-$16) they should take a few moments to season the food. The chicken tasted like frozen chicken so I don't recommend it. Overall the drinks were decent, but for the price I rather find a place that has equally good drinks and food.

My review is based on service, not the food. I'd give the food an 8/10 just because the meat was missing tenderness. It was flavored well however it was dry and I would've loved some broth to go with it even though I know it's a flatbread. I also had the bottlenectar beer, which I highly recommend. We arrived after 11pm, close to last call and our server, you could tell was not happy. Walking to this location wasn't the best idea but it was 12min from the hotel and from the moment we walked in we felt rushed. At that point we should've known better and gotten a pizza somewhere to go. We were halfway through our meal when the sever came up and placed the ticket on the table. No big deal we kept eating and talking. She came up a couple minutes later and goes so we closed 2 minutes ago and I'd like to check out now. Wow! I am not used to that kind of service. I understand people want to go home but definitely not what I want after a day of travel. Needless to say it didn't leave any good vibes or needing to go back.

While our waiter as ok, when my salad arrived it already had the dressing mixed into the WHOLE salad! The waiter stated it is that way unless the customer indicates they want it in the side. How am I supposed to request on the side if it's not indicated on their menu it's tossed in????? I read the menu again before writing this review and it's not indicated anywhere the dressing is premixed into the salad! This is a very dumb practice! Prices are very high as well. No thanks!

Always a favorite stop for us! They consistently have the Hefeweizen we love, and the food never disappoints. Highly recommend the burgers, they're absolutely delicious. If you visit during brunch, don't miss the mimosa flights and the Bloody Mary that's practically a meal on its own. Plenty of seating options, including a great bar area, so you'll always feel comfortable.

Looked like a great patio spot so we stopped here while deciding how to spend the rest of the day. Appetizers: Bang bang shrimp 4/5 Fries 4/5 Baked spinach dip: ooh the bread is Soo good 5/5 cocktail: blueberry mint G&T: Botanist gun, blueberry syrup, mint, lemon juice and tonic water 10/10. Not a gin girlie but I really loved how refreshing this one was. Patio: nice and breezy with street views

Food was very very mediocre. It was open late and we were hungry, that's why we went. I should have just fasted. Loud music. Hate that. Pretty flower boxes.

    The price wasn't bad, either.

Chicago, Great location, across from Pendry Hotel . I sat @ the bar & my waiter was Raoul. He made my stay a good experience. I ordered a Chicago double cheeseburger w/ tots & it was a moist & juicy supreme burger . I was surprised how good it was bc restaurants don't know how to make good burgers anymore. So., thumbs up ! Later, a lady next 2 me ordered a juicy grilled steak I'll order that next time. I have photos. Unfortunately, my burger was sooo good I didn't remember to take a photo until I was almost done. . Lol I recommend, this restaurant.

I usually don't drink on the weekdays, so I ended up just getting an iced tea and him a tequila soda, but because I don't drink, we decided to get an appetizer and we browsed the menu for a minute and ended up splitting the Parmesan chicken egg rolls. Truthfully, I really just wanted to see what that would entail because it seemed a little disgusting or maybe even some kind of high-food, but to my surprise, it was actually a really crispy skinned pizza roll. I'm pretty sure it had been previously frozen, but in that moment- served with a side of marinara, I didn't really care. It was full of gooey melted mozzarella cheese and almost like a breaded chicken nugget center. Pretty decent as far as bar food goes. They also had crab rangoon to which I thought, "hmm are they doing a little too much?!" I'm sure drunk me would have gotten them years ago so what can ya do. Overall, quite a positive experience. The bartender was really sweet and everything wasn't super expensive. My son had a crispy chicken sandwich which he devoured and my daughter had a quesadilla which they prepared especially for her without any sauce. Everything was tasty. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.
