Ordered my daughter's birthday cake, they were very accommodating on a short notice custom order. The owner was in town and made it herself. It came out fabulous and it was delicious. Afterward, we stopped in to buy some cake pops and spoke with the owner to thank her for the cake. Always greats to support a small business owner, versus the bakery section of a big grocery store. We will definitely be back to the Dessetist to order more desserts when in town. read more

Not going to lie when I first entered this location and saw how sparse it was, I was preparing myself to be disappointed. My fiancé and I are getting married in June and wanted to check out bakeries for some of our events. We bought some cake pops and didn't have any expectations on them. A very unique and artisanal bake shop where just about everything is custom made and made from scratch. The smell upon walking in is tantalizing. My wife had gender reveal cupcakes made here for her friends at work. We also got some of the dessertist bars that were on display. They were some of the most delicious brownie/blondies I've ever had. Had the best Strawberry Shortcake at The Dessertist! Really fresh cream and perfect sweetness for me! We also ordered sugar-free chocolate chip cookies - made with honey & coconut sugar! That's truly cookies without the guilt! Honey is way better than sugar & coconut sugar has a low glycemic index. These sugars are better than substitute sugars like aspartame or stevia. So the cookies were good for diabetic-prone people like me who have to be careful with sugar intake. I will definitely be back! We were in charge of my Buddy's birthday bash. I was assigned and wanted to get something special (It is not everyday you turn 67!). My bro told us about this bakery and we checked it out. The bakery here is nothing short of artistic masterpieces. They had a BIG variety of options when making your cake. You choose the batter,frosting and decours. The frosting can also be boozed infused to create interesting flavors. We had a chocolate with MARTINI flavored frosting. It was spectacular. The artist herself even asked us how we wanted the cake decorated. We trusted her and let her do hew own thing and she quite the talent. The birthday was pleased and have the Dessertist to thank. Loved it! The cupcakes I had ordered for my picky mother came out so well!! I ordered a vanilla cupcake with mixed berries baked inside and vanilla frosting with fresh raspberries and blueberries as the garnish. The taste of the cake was delightful. The frosting way too sweet and stiff, I wish I had ordered buttercreme instead of listening to the baker and doing vanilla frosting. I also was a little disappointed in the garnishing of the cupcakes, it was literally half a raspberry and half a blueberry piece on top of the center. I expected at least the whole piece of fruit or multiple pieces on top. My mother, who these were for, was not impressed with the vanilla frosting either, she ripped the frosting off the cupcake and ate just the cake part and said it was tasty. I understand being overbooked as the owners fiancé told me but I don't appreciate feeling pressured into making a decision on the spot. The place closed at 6 and I got there at 2pm, yet the owners fiancé was acting as though I had entered the store 10minutes until closing and wanted to place an order. He kept giving new ideas on what to order and standing there while I was trying to make a decision and have a private conversation with my sister so it all felt very forced. Most bakeries let you take a minute to decide what you want to order and give you space instead of hovering over and giving tons of unnecessary input. I explained that my mother was picky so I needed a minute to decide and then just kept going asking about her liked and making suggestions I understand it was to try to help but I would have asked for help if needed instead it added unneeded stress. Everything here is wonderful (but definitely make sure to try the lolipop cakes) and the location (on the side of the strip mall) is definitely a plus and gives the place a very unique LA-style vibe (more prospective Croton business owners should learn from the Dessertist and open up anywhere there's space available). Sam made this process so easy and convenient and I hope to order from her again some day! I had emailed Sam with about two weeks notice for a cake for my niece. My niece had sent me pictures of a cake she wanted and I saw that Sam had done one very similar in the past. Sam was quick and kind in her responses. I had never ordered a custom cake before and this was a great first experience and close to home! Sam was flexible in scheduling the pick up time and the cake was even ready beforehand. I'm pretty positive the crown decoration is hand made and that's some dedication! Besides being beautiful, the cake was delicious as well. Decadent and sinful these desserts are! They are a taste explosion and sugar rush rolled into an amazingly delicious punch. I stopped in here to bring home something sweet for my family to share together after a trip in the area. Am I glad that I stopped! The owner was very nice in giving us a tour of what she had to offer... which, of course, lent me to wanting to buy one of everything since it all sounded so delicious. We returned home and I enjoyed an amazing brownie/ cookie bar, cutting it in small slices so that the taste was not too overpowering while enjoying it with my coffee. The Cupcake had a moist texture and great flavor with the frosting tasting amazing! The "Taco" was the only thing that (I thought I would never say this) was almost too sweet... though I still enjoyed it but after 4 or 5 bites, I was running around the house like the Flash! I would recommend this place as a stop to make if you are heading through the area. The owner is an extremely talented Pastry Chef who I can tell puts a lot of thought and effort into what she presents to her customers. I truly felt like a kid in a candy store deciding what I would have, while my youngest daughter was so overwhelmed with trying to make a decision, that she had a hard time put her decision into words! No, get yourself at least half a dozen, because if you don't get any to share with people seeing you eating one of these cookies, you are going to have a problem. Last week I and a relative bought some. They were fresh out of the oven, We planned to eat them at home, but the cookies didn't even make it out of the parking lot. We sat in the car, in hushed silence (aside from the muffled "Oh, wow's" and "Oh my gahhhhh's") as we crammed cookies into our faces, each of us silently pondering whether the rest would make it home to share with other members of the family. I must have got them on an off day. I stopped in for something to bring to a friend's house but there was not much to pick from at 1:45 on a Saturday even though they were open until 6:00. I purchased a cake pop that tasted very wet on the inside and the white chocolate coating tasted like candy melts & a decorated cookie triangle (when I asked the sales girl what it was she said it was a vanilla cookie) that tasted like it was decorated with canned frosting. There were no cupcakes and the only cookies were the cookie tacos sitting in a puddle of white frosting and Phantom of the Opera cookies on the bottom shelf that looked old and faded. For my birthday, my mom and husband told the Dessertist (Sam) the names of a bunch of flavors that I like, then called her back at least three times to change it. With this mish-mosh of imprecise information, Sam baked the single best cake I have ever had (and I consider myself to be a very cake-y person). It was bursting with flavor, moist and soft, the filling was generous and perfectly flavored and complimentary to the frosting and cake. It was out of this world. I have since had her chocolate chip cookies and they were divine. Not only that, but she is a lovely, pleasant, and talented hard-working baker and artist whose treats will delight you, whether you order a custom dessert or buy "off the shelf" from one of her gorgeous offerings. If you are looking to WOW your guests, for any occasion, you will not be disappointed with any creation which this establishment creates. We've had their famous cake pops, gigantic chocolate chip cookies, "pizza" cookies, Choco's, Frosting filled cookies, specialty bars, cake "shooters" and their totally fantastic cup cakes. They were all delicious, fresh and tasted homemade, which I guess they are! Their chocolate frosting is not overly sweet and is real chocolate, not the canned junk! If you're looking for the overly sweet, run of the mill, "baked goods" which have sat around for days, (maybe weeks), this is not the place for you. A local grocery store is a stones throw away!
