Had to make an update because the second go around wasn't as good as the first. I arrived to meet friends after 10 pm last night and the place was jamming. I was hoping the reason to make reservations was to alleviate and avoid situations of having a stuffed bar. Much like the vibe Bourbon and Branch has. Unfortunately that wasn't the case and the place was popping at the seams (at least around the bars) There were an inordinate amount of impatient customers last night and the temperature of the venue didn't help that at all. The whole point of a speakeasy (at least I thought) was that it would be easy to speak but it was not. It was difficult to hold a conversation. After a round of fighting for drinks and trying to chat we gave up our table and left. I can't totally bash the place as it's still in it's infancy. The theme and the space is still one I adore. I just hope that in the upcoming weeks they can manage the reservation system to benefit the guests or do away with it and simply become a bar not trying to be a speakeasy. The positives were when you finally get to a bartender they are amazing to deal with and are charming and witty as hell. Sadly the population they allow through the doors hampers the whole experience. I plan to return in a couple months to see if the growing pains subside. read more

I'll give it a solid Meehhhhh. Went for happy hour on a Friday afternoon around 5. There were maybe 4 other tables and a couple of peeps at the bar in a rather large restaurant BUT after waiting 15 minutes for a menu, we asked the hostess if we should order at the bar and she replied that's there's a server, just be patient. OhhhK so after we get a menu 20 minutes or so after sitting down we finally order. Maybe things are on the up and up? Not so fast-we watch every table around us receive their order and still we wait. A quick trip to the bar reveals that our drinks are finally in progress. Finally, 40 minutes in, were sippin that sweet, sweet booze. Cocktails are solid for sure but be prepared for sub-par service even at a slow time. read more

Great for a date night or a large birthday! Devil's Acre has plenty of space to stand, but there are also a lot of individual tables if you just want to talk in a smaller group. I love that they open all the windows when it's warm out, so get a table there if you're there around happy hour! While I have only tried two of their cocktails and remember the names of zero, they were both good. Not the fastest service because some of them are a bit fancyyyy but it's worth the wait. Their cocktails are perfection. This is how mixology is meant to be. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and what I ended up getting was exactly how she described it and also what I was looking for. Somehow, they magically mix the drink to be potent enough that you can feel a slight buzz from your drink...but it's mixed so well that you don't taste the alcohol! Pretty good cocktails - really liked Clover Leaf. Had a table ready for us even though we were 45 min early (we were just going to drink at the bar until our reservation time) so that was a pleasant surprise. The decor was retro in a cute way and the wall of old-time elixirs was pretty interesting. FYI two of my friends didn't know we had a waitress and ordered drinks at the bar and said it took forever so beware. The drinks were excellent but the service was better... didn't stand at the bar to order but our waitress (we didn't get her name) was thee BEST! Get the "Call a Treuse" or "Liquid Sunshine" and you'll be well set for the evening. The crowd was a little loud and trendy but maybe I'm just old. Do yourself a favor and do not come to this establishment. Not worth your time or money. Came here on a Sunday night after a long conference ....had dinner and figured my colleague and I needed a night cap... Came to the bar around 11. It was under the impression that if you order a drink during last call you would have time to drink it. Drink came out 15-20 minutes later, bartender said we could drink it ... But even before we got our drink, the door "officer" told us we had to leave... Told him we ordered the drink but still didn't get it... Got our drink, which were about 11-12 a pop and basically was told the place was closed ... The bouncer came to us twice and told us we had to leave. When we told him he said it was closed at 12, he came up with "everyone has to be out by 1145." A contradiction of what he said earlier... With that he watched us from less than three feet Away finish our drink. Felt like trump trying to intimate Hillary during the debates. Bartenders didn't even say anything or do anything. Thank guys! If you want to chug cocktails like a college student , come here ! If you want to go to a place where you're treated like a grown respectable, adult, don't come here. Used to love this spot! Really well decorated space with live bands sometimes, an intimate downstairs area, and an extensive cocktail list including drinks you wouldn't see elsewhere. I went back yesterday for the first time in over a year. The downstairs is closed and now they only have about 8 cocktails. The two gin ones we tried were awful- one was inedibly sour and the other tasted like flat soda water with a dash of flavor. We ended up leaving more than half of each on the table. Seemed like we weren't the only ones that felt that way- the place was very dead for a Friday and used to always be packed. Just last weekend I threw my birthday party in the Devil Acre's downstairs rentable area, The Remedie Room, and could not be happier with how it went. From my initial reach out, to booking, and ultimately the party itself, I was impressed with how easy communication and planning was. The night of the party, we were able to arrive a few minutes early to set up and were greeted by our extremely friendly bartender for the night, Jay, and our "bouncer," Chris. Both were awesome dudes who treated us like old friends and boy did we have a grand ole time. The Remedie Room itself was AWESOME. And the perfect place to throw an oldtime themed party or something of that vein. Although they only allow you to have 30 guests at a time, the space was actually quite large, with ample seating area for everyone and tons of tables to put out food and decorations. I brought a TON of decorations and things to hang on the walls and the staff was super into it as long as I didn't hang anything on their fancy wallpaper. But even if you don't have the time or care for extra decorations, the room itself is awesome as is and just about everyone commented how cool they thought the room was. Drinks were AWESOME. I'm not a huge drinker and so was super surprised by how delicious I found everything I tried! Even the more seasoned drinkers of our group were super impressed with how well the drinks were made. While at the end I was unfortunately left with covering a large unmet bar minimum, the delicious drinks, the very cool decor of the room and our awesome bartender totally made the large spend worth it for the special experience that it was. One of my favorites. The drink menu is filled with many great, strong cocktails but the best drinks I've found are made at the bar when you specifically ask for a certain taste. Perfect spot for drinks with a group and very cool ambiance but make sure you have a reservation. We rented the downstairs Remedie Room at Devil's Acre for a birthday party recently and it could not have been a better experience. Booking was easily & both the rental & bar minimum were quite reasonable for the size of our group (~30). Everyone was extremely friendly & helpful, & Kelly made fantastic drinks for us all night. There is no food but they were happy to let us bring in Tommaso's pizza (as long as we supplied plates, etc.) for no extra charge. Things could not have worked out better and I would recommend the space (and the tasty drinks!) to anyone for a private event. read more
