Apparently North Beach is the best 'hood in the city for nightlife...right now. IF I was still in my 20s, I would start the night off at Monroe for Battle of the Decades where drinks start at $1 at 5 pm and increase by $1 every hour until 10 pm. Nosh on zucchini fries at Original Joe's before bar hopping on Grant Ave. IF you like a diverse crowd with DJs spinning hip hop, a visit to Legacy is mandatory. We did a little weekend day drinking at Legacy and when we saw customers sporting their Frisco gear, we knew we were in the right place! Sorry but it's Frisco, The Sco, or The City, it's NEVER San Fran. For those who disagree, tell that to Mac Dre, Too $hort, and the Hells Angels. Plus, Herb Caen eventually took back his "Frisco" stance. Anyhow, after Legacy, I would move on to watch the midnight ballerinas on Broadway and end the night smashing faces with a Golden Boy! BFF wanted to stop her after dinner for her 50th birthday. I mean I grew up in NB my entire childhood. Love it love it love it but after COVID-19. Nothing has been the same. People are a bit rude and raunchy and don't respect the area for what North Beach stands for. Being in your 40's, it ain't the place really to be. To let loose, gotta have some drinks and blend in. Rude female bartender. While I was waiting at the bar, another guy stepped in in front of me and flagged her down. She snapped at him for being abrupt and still served him before me. Then she turned to me and mocked me for waiting patiently. She ended up getting another one of her coworkers to tend to my order. Really TERRIBLE customer service. Went last night July 31st between 11pm-12am. Rude lady at the front who was bigger and stout. Yelled at everyone and was on a MAJOR power trip. Went to celebrate my friends birthday stood in line for 30 minutes and this lady was incredibly rude to us. Even the bouncer thought she was doing too much and it looked like he was scared of her. She had glasses and a tight short pony tail. This is NOT the first terrible experience we've had with her and its a shame she is ruining this bar. Do NOT waste your money here and support these rude people. Many bars around that gave us 0 issues. Not a coincidence that we leave this bar EVERY TIME within 10 minutes of getting in the entrance because of this lady. Never had a similar problem at any other bar and we continued our night having a blast in other bars that gave us NO ISSUES AT ALL. Again dont come here if you're looking for a good time because the service here is absolutely unlike anything I've ever experienced before. I came here with my girlfriend for the first time on halloween weekend to experience a bit of SF night life. It was our first time going out since forever and we were looking forward to trying Legacy in particular because we noticed the music and vibes seemed the absolute best. It was really disappointing though to find that the staff seemed pretty rude. I tried waving one lady down for a drink politely and she gave me a mocking wave back and ignored us. Then I ordered a long island from a different waiter, and it came out to a pretty expensive $20. I smashed no tip and he yells "Niiiiice Thanks Man!" In front of everyone. What the heck? Lol do something worth a tip if you want one. In fairness though, this bar still slaps and I hope they do better. A couple stars for the good experience anyway, and I'll adjust my rating if they adjust their professionalism. read more

I hadn't seen her in forever, so we decided to have one last round of drinks before we parted ways. We were in the area having dinner with another couple and they suggested we come here. We easily found two seats at the bar. I didn't get an itemized receipt, but I know my drink was $14 based on my menu pic, so I'm assuming my gf's was $16 since the subtotal was $30. The cocktail was fine. I was drawn to the name more than anything. The drink consisted of - dry gin, coffee liqueur, tonic, coffee beans, cocoa nibs. I'm a fan of spirit forward, so this was on the lighter side for me. And it was on the sweeter side as well, so not really my kind of drink. Would have ordered another one, but we both needed to get home at a reasonable time. Vibe is dark and kinda moody. There was music playing, but the noise level wasn't too bad. We could still have a convo without shouting at each other. The bartender was sweet. The right amount of attentiveness. Not too much, not too little. Bar was closing and I had lost track of my friends, I had gone outside to look and when I didn't see them I was going to go back inside to find them. I felt unsafe by myself and when I tried to go back inside the old man at the door was confrontational and told me I couldn't go back inside even after I told him I felt unsafe and was just looking for my friends. He was spitting in my face was how close he was telling me how he didn't care, I told him I felt unsafe and he didn't give a shit. Ladies, I do not recommend this bar if this is how we are going to be treated. This person needs to be fired!! Finally got to pop in last night after hearing so many good things and having friends who recommend bc of mutual friends. The music was cool, I believe Toph1 was spinning. We literally waited about 8-10 min for a drink. Female bartender saw my friend and I several times yet served others. She finally came and told us to "get our ID's ready" (no one else was being asked for ID's. She served two other people on the opposite end of the bar. We left bc we definitely felt the female bartender was playing power trips with us and wasn't trying to serve us. Never going back. Bummer bc I usually love supporting local small businesses. I recently visited Legacy this past Friday 11/01 and had a disappointing experience, largely due to this new bartender, Jennifer? From the moment I approached the bar, she was rude and dismissive. Instead of engaging with me or offering suggestions on different drinks, she seemed annoyed that I was even there. When I asked for recommendations she just rolled her eyes and gave me an attitude. It felt like I was bothering her rather than being a valued customer. The atmosphere has always been nice at legacy but Jennifer's unwelcoming demeanor ruined my night. Terrible bar do not visit under any circumstances. Charged me three times for two drinks and then refused to acknowledge that I was overcharged and then refused to even give me the drinks that I was charged x3. Tried to talk to the bartender and manager who and both were rude and dismissive when I showed them the charges. Don't go here!!! read more
