During her stay, she was administered multiple medications, including muscle relaxants and other medications with sedating effects. Shortly afterward, her condition changed dramatically. She became extremely lethargic, difficult to arouse, confused, and eventually was unable to communicate appropriately. Despite these significant and sudden changes in her condition, staff did not appear to recognize the seriousness of her symptoms or escalate her care in a timely manner. Instead, I was led to believe that they considered her altered mental status to be her normal baseline. This was completely inaccurate. When I arrived, I immediately recognized that something was seriously wrong. My mother, who had been alert and able to communicate previously, was barely responsive, confused, and did not even recognize me at one point. I voiced my concerns to the staff and questioned whether her medications could be contributing to her condition. Rather than identifying the issue themselves, it took my intervention for emergency medical care to be initiated. She was transported by EMS to the emergency department, where she required further evaluation and treatment. She was ultimately admitted back to the hospital, including care on the stroke unit while physicians worked to determine the cause of her sudden neurological decline. This emergency hospitalization caused significant emotional distress to our family and interrupted her rehabilitation. I am deeply concerned that Hampton Health & Rehabilitation failed to adequately monitor my mother after administering medications known to cause sedation, failed to recognize clear signs of an acute change in her condition, failed to perform an appropriate assessment, and failed to promptly notify her physician and obtain emergency medical treatment. These failures placed her health and safety at unnecessary risk. I respectfully request a thorough investigation into: The medications administered to my mother, including the timing, dosages, and rationale for administering multiple sedating medications together. The nursing assessments performed before and after medication administration. Documentation of her neurological status and vital signs during the event. The timeline of when staff first noticed her condition changed and what actions were taken. Why staff reportedly described her condition as her normal baseline despite the obvious change in her mental status. Whether facility policies regarding medication monitoring, change in condition, physician notification, and emergency response were followed. My family entrusted Hampton Health & Rehabilitation with my mother's care during a vulnerable time. We expected that changes in her condition would be recognized immediately and treated as a medical emergency. Instead, we experienced delays in recognition and response that could have had devastating consequences. I expect this matter to be investigated thoroughly and for appropriate corrective actions to be taken to prevent this from happening to another

Most of the staff are not trained…read moreto handle people in memory care, several times when calling my family and I were either hung up on by rude staff, or told we would get a call back then never received a call. There are a few great staff there, but they can't make up for the number of bad staff. The management has switched out of there so many times, it's a guessing game of who is actually running things. They require you to store products for your loved one in a locked storage room, that only the staff has access to, and then either steal items or use them on other resident. They stole $70 worth of products for my loved one, and when management was notified, they went silent. Save yourself the aggravation and look else where. The Assistant Director, which is also their head nurse, has no bedside manner, is rude, and has an attitude. If your loved one is not heavily medicated don't bother, because they will make up accusations about it your loved one, while not telling the family or their own psychiatrist on staff, to discharge your loved one. Their kitchen, and especially the fridge in the kitchen in memory care is nasty and unsanitary. I know because one of the staff showed me it since I brought food for my loved one. I would stay clear of this location, and recommend doing research and a more thorough tour to see all the problems, as well as ask all the questions. If I had to do it over I would have kept searching and found something better for my loved one, which is what I'm doing now. One last thing, they also like to sneak charges in so if you do go with this location scrutinize the bill completely. Even when I pointed out charges that shouldn't be there they still continued to charge me for stuff. I wish I would have taken the reviews I saw more serious because they were accurate.

He died eight days later…read more Although we were told by the bookkeeper that if we cleared out his apartment, we might get some of the month's rent back, we later learned that the corporation policy requires a 30 day advance notice EVEN WHEN A TENANT DIES unexpectedly. I get it that typical rentals require the full month if a tenant spends any part of a month in a unit....but with NO exemptions for death, this is an incredible money grabbing policy by the company!!! Besides keeping my father's more than $3000 rent for a room he occupied only two days in January, we have not gotten his security deposit returned. The management informed us that his room was in good condition and we could expect to get back his "security deposit" of $1000. It has been almost THREE MONTHS since his apartment was confirmed to be OK and vacated January 15, and there has been no check yet. Each time I call, I am told that the "higher up" office has already cut the check - but it is hard to believe that any form of mail delivery would take three weeks to deliver it. If you are considering placing a loved one in the Hidenwood, make sure that they give a thirty days notice BEFORE they die unless you want to get socked with another month's rent. It will help to make sure they plan to die on the last day of the month so that the company cannot charge an extra month's rent! It's a policy that lacks all fairness and compassion!

We talked to a lawyer who said she had to pay the full amount. In fact his mother passed away in March yet they had to pay for April because she didn't give a 30 day notice
