I have mixed feelings about the Citrus Club. On one hand, the service is decent and the view can be great. However, I didn't love any of my drinks and the rooftop is kind of segmented into two parts outside. It only poses an issue because I'd say that one section definitely has the nicer views and more audible music (the speakers are better situated on this section). That means you'll have to be specific with your server on where you want to sit in order to get the best views and music (and if it's a nice day out, I anticipate that these few seats will fill up fast). If they had stellar drinks, it almost wouldn't matter because a nice rooftop is a nice rooftop with the right drinks. However, because their drinks aren't the best in that I find they lack complexity (e.g., balancing sugar with the harshness of hard liquor), it's not the most ideal place for everyone. read more

I took a trip by myself to Charleston from California. I really enjoyed their roof top restaurant Citrus. The view was beautiful and even though I was by myself the atmosphere was very comfortable and great ambiance. Their lavender drink was amazing as well as their gluten free brownies with real mint ice cream. My only complaint about restaurants in Charleston us almost everything on the menu is fried. Fried food is ok sometimes but not everyday. It would be nice if they had more selection of fresh grilled seafood. Other than that this place is a great spot for a date or if you are solo. It didn't appear to be a great spot if you are looking to meet people. Most of what I saw here was large groups or couples. read more

Came for a company event and felt pampered and relaxed. The Citrus Club food was equally delicious and creative. The service was so attentive, and the view was probably the best in the city, if not the state! Probably the best hotel to stay in the area just 15 min away from the airport. The area felt safe and the town is very quaint. You can walk around and see the boat crossing Ashley River. Note that even though the website says that the fitness center is open at 5 am, it's accessible 24/7 with a room key. The fitness center has limited free weights, but has more Peletons and treadmills than the average center. It also has iced water bottles routinely refreshed. Also note that this is the only hotel I've been to where there isn't coffee in the rooms. There is a coffee station next to the elevators starting at 4:45 am, where you can also find fresh copies of WSJ and other papers. Would definitley come back for the food - shrimp and grits, different types of salad, veggie soup, interesting cookies and desserts. Great place to host a company event! read more

If you want to impress someone who's visiting or new to the area, take them to Citrus Club! Located on the rooftop of The Dewberry hotel, it boasts one of the best views of downtown Charleston especially at sunset. It's a great way to have a socially distanced cocktail while enjoying some fresh air. When you arrive you have to check in with the host and receive a key card that is used on the elevator that grants you access to the 8th floor. Once there the bar welcomes you with plenty of options. There's a good amount of seating inside by the bar, but the real draw is the outside terrace. As the name implies citrus cocktails are their specialty. I opted for the tequila based Long-Time Listener. It was well balanced in both sweetness and tartness. I loved how pretty the gradient was or maybe I'm just a sucker for anything with a tiny umbrella. I also shared some bites with my friends. We got the Calypso Chips & Salsa, Loaded Fries and the Chicken Lollipops. Of the three the chicken was my favorite. It was perfectly seasoned and deliciously tender and the French tips are a cute touch. A cilantro lime dip accompanies the dish, which was so fresh and delicious. We even ordered some to go with the fries too! The chips & salsa didn't knock my socks off. The spicy avocado was pretty bland to me, but the mango tomatillo salsa and black beans were tasty. I appreciated they let us get another bowl of chips when one wasn't enough. We stayed long enough to transition from daytime to night, which the staff handled seamlessly as they handed out little table top lights. There's plenty of heaters throughout the rooftop too, which are a hot commodity as the cooler months approach. I look forward to experiencing this gorgeous bar again the next time I'm in Charleston. read more

The rooftop Citrus Club was a wonderful way to start our holiday visit! The front of the hotel was brightly decorated with lit snowflakes hanging in the entranceway and was a warm welcome. The hotel is located across from Marion Square and we were fortunate to find free parking on a side street. Once in the hotel, an employee checked us in via Resy and provided us with access to the rooftop bar. Chilly night and thankful for the hostess to find a table near a heater for us to enjoy the 1st stop on our progressive dinner tour this evening. All of the staff are super friendly and appreciative of their guests. Lots of folks enjoying the pre-holiday rush in the outdoor space and keeping warm with the fire pits/warmers. Indoor tables are available too. The outdoor section reminded me of a smaller version of the outdoor rooftop bar in the AC Hotel where we stayed in Asheville. Oh my goodness, the house made truffle french fries with a sprinkling of cojito cheese were amazing! Since it was the holiday season, a glass of champagne for me and hubby enjoyed a pinot noir as a toast to a safe and happy holiday season. Off to Hanks for dinner! read more

My family (long time local residents)came in after a few hours at the wildlife expo for refreshments. I'd always wanted to see it as I worked here many years ago when it was a federal building. Was impressed with the renovation, and initially with the service. Ordered coffees, an iced tea, a sandwich and some pastries (2 were good, one was meh and not what I ordered but we were enjoying or experience so I let go). We were actually looking forward to returning for a cocktail night or dinner, stopping in again while shopping downtown, or even a weekend staycation. The iced tea came in a ridiculously small glass, like a cocktail. It was $4 but I would have expected that.. My daughter asked for a tea refill. I don't think in my 60 plus years I have ever paid for an ice tea refill. They served our coffee and left a pot of same on the table. When the bill came it it had 2 teas ($8). Daughter asked nicely thinking it was in error as our server changed during our visit. Our new not so nice server informed us (rather rudely) we were charged per glass. Good feeling gone, too many other nice places to go in chasn. There's such a thing as paying extra for good service, quality F&B, and ambiance then there's just being overcharged. I was able to try the lobster fritter and a drink which were absolutely divine !! That fritter has to be the best I've ever had in my life and it was definitely one of my favorite bites here in Charleston. It's good to note that the citrus club is the highest rooftop bar in Charleston so you really get to enjoy a beautiful view of the city from your seat! The service is outstanding as expected. In the words of Marilyn Manson, this is the place for "the beautiful people." Hard to believe the Dewberry was the old federal building; the hotel, bars, and general ambience are magical. Not sure if there is a more perfect place for a date then the Dewberry rooftop. The views are stunning and it is THE place to be seen. This is not the place to show up in pastel shorts and visors that read "COCKS." The Citrus Club is for dress shirts, bridal parties, sundresses, and sports coats. The Citrus Club makes you feel like the rich and the famous! You are immediately greeted inside the hotel lobby to be taken up to the rooftop bar. Staff greet you upon your exit from the elevator and the ambiance and decor are STUNNING! And the view is top notch! We felt so welcome and so taken care of the entire time we were there. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and great at describing the differences between the cocktails. My husband enjoyed a glass of the house cab and I tried the hibiscus mojito! It was sweet with just the right amount of bitter and tasted 100% fresh. We enjoyed the expansive views of downtown and even though we're local it felt like a little slice of vacation! If you're looking for an upscale place to grab a drink you cannot go wrong with this bar! The view from this place - SWOON!!! My friends and I finally got to visit this spot this past weekend. The reservation process is pretty annoying but worth it to be there and understandable so the place doesn't become overcrowded. We landed a sunset reservation - highly recommend! They graciously accommodated our larger party size too. The drinks were unique and strong. We got a few bites to munch on while we enjoyed the incredible view! Would recommend the lobster hush puppies. Why not 5 stars? Well, our waiter attempted to memorize our order which resulted in our party being a drink short. This is my first time coming to this hotel and so far I'm not impressed. The staff is overly nice and accommodating but it looks like management is missing the hospitality boat. The roof top restaurant was closed for 2 of the 3 nights which they could have told us prior to coming. the staff is using the 2 elevators to transport chairs and trash cans. Nice to also have priority as a hotel guest to access the rooftop bar. Location is pretty good for food (5-20 min walk)and short bike ride (10 min) to the downtown beachfront area. Rooms are clean but a bit cramped--recommend trying to upgrade to a more spacious suite if possible. Remember parking is $40 a night or so. read more

Fantastic little cocktail lounge. Located on the top of the Dewberry, it's as fancy as you'd expect. Make reservations ahead of time! The inside area is a bit small with only a few tables, but the outdoor area is phenomenal. One of the best views of the city. You have full 360 views and can walk around the top of the building to see it all. The drinks are also excellent if a bit pricey, as are the apps. But this is definitely worth the splurge. read more

Have to say I was kind of disappointed with my recent visit to the Citrus Club. Made a reservation in advance and requested to be seated outside. Showed up about 10 minutes ahead of time and was told that my options were to wait for an outside table or I could sit inside now. We chose to sit inside rather than wait. I want to point out here that a large part of this review has to do with the extremely rude hostess. She was practically irate that we were early, made us feel like we couldn't leave the table she sat us at and she was very rude to guests of the hotel who came up with us! She told them that there were no available seats....once we were inside there were several empty tables and bar stools and more than half of the outside tables were empty (& most of them never filled up the hour + that we were there). They were eventually sat, but I don't think that she handled the situation well-at all! In addition to this hostess, there was also a younger girl and guy working the hostess stand. Both of them seemed much more relaxed and friendly-we overheard them telling people they sat at the bar that they could walk around outside and feel free to sit if a table opened up....so someone did not get the memo to have such different guest interaction. Our server was very sweet and attentive. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine and a tiki cocktail. We did wander out onto the rooftop just to check it out-the views were nice!! You can valet for $6 and the valet team was so fast and very professional!
