The bartender, Kristen, came over immediately for our drink orders and handed us menus, and after receiving our drinks quickly, then asked if we wanted to order any food. We placed our order with her and just soaked in the vibe. The bar was full with locals - which we LOVE - and Betty the lab frequently came by for pets, which I also love. Our food came out about half an hour or so after we ordered, which it totally fine (!!) as they have a very small kitchen, and while we didn't order pizza, we could smell pizza cooking, and it smelled amazing. Overall, Kristen was absolutely remarkable, attentive, and kind, we were very pleased with the service, loved mingling with the regulars, and will definitely be back. I had to calm down from my worst experience of any local business so far before writing this. I was a regular here for years and referred many friends over the years as well. We had been calling in our order the last year instead of dealing with masks. This evening was too hot to go out dress up and eat somewhere so we ordered to go. I always order the Bonnie which is a patty melt, and we get the prime rib sandwich. The order taker told me the total and hung up. On the way in, I stopped to check the menu since it seemed wrong and much higher than normal. When I went inside I told her I think you over charged me by mistake. No mistake she said, and since COVID we are charging 2$ more per MEAT sandwich! WHAT???? I said, First NOBODY TOLD us on the phone and your menu does not reflect such ADDED prices. I told the girl HOW can you justify a random price as 2$ PER ALREADY high prices? She had no answer except to blame COVID??? I told her to tell the management that that extra 4$ was her tip. I got the sandwiches home only to be not surprised that the items were not made correctly. Bonnie melt is a patty melt had no cheese and no grilled onions. The quality went south fast! I told her I was coming back for a refund. She opened the sandwich saying it had an onion on it??? Are you kidding? It was a plain SMALLER burger nothing else. I also informed her that she would not have us a customers anymore and that she needs to teach her employees to TELL the potential customer of the PRICE GAUGE before they ordered! I am so mad at this display of another excuse of COVID to turn businesses against the customers that puts them in business. Why should locals support restaurants who are beyond UNPATRIOTIC using covid as an excuse to JACK up prices without any PRE NOTIFICATION! Funny.... I told her my meat prices at albertsons did not go up that much and I can still buy meat there. She stupidly admitted they get their BEEF from ALBErTSONS! I I also will tell all my friends to go elsewhere. IF this owner /Manger reaches out to me I would like him to know that running a business this way is DISCUSTING and UNPATRIOTIC! He got paid during closures and using the COVID as an excuse to rip off the public is absolutely atrocious. I had to close my business and GOT NO BAIL out! I don't intend on standing up for these types in AMERICA in my opinion should not be in business at all. This is a lot like communist countries! read more

Oh how I WISH I could give these guys a great review - it's just that the quality is so uneven and the service has been sub-par every time we've gone. I've been here 3 times in the last 2 years since I moved to Vegas. The first time, November 3012, was great. I had the burger with the figs on it, and it was wonderful. The fries were also good. We were seated inside, so we got a little more attention from the waitstaff than you do if you're outside, but still significantly less than other restaurants. There was the obligatoy check-in-once-to-see-if-everybody-likes-their-food, but waters went unfilled, we had to aske several times for extra napkins, and it took forever for the check to come. I believe I finally had to go to the bar and ask for it. These are silly problems to have, because the dining room is tiny, and you can see everyone from wherever you're standing. Seriously. The second visit was I think maybe January of 2013, and the food was fine & the service was no worse than normal, despite being seated outside. For that visit I'd give the food a solid B and the service a solid C-. On my last visit, and I do mean LAST, this summer (2014), we were seated outside & the service was the slowest you could imagine. We got our menus right away, but waited and waited (I would say about 20 minutes) for our water and for the waitress to take our order. That same level of service was maintained throughout our visit, so I won't bother with any more detail there. This time, however, the food was awful, and I am so sorry to say that, because I want to root for these guys. My turkey sandwich was OK, but daughter's hot dog was so salty - had to be Oscar Meyer. Hubby's seafood bisque had begun to turn, so he had to stop eating it (they DID take it off our bill, to be fair). And the Philly Cheesesteak Nacho app was disgusting. It's a good idea, but from a place that serves figs on their burgers, I expect more than cheese-whiz and EXTRA salt on already salty tortilla chips. The meat/peppers/onion part was totally fine, but pretty skimpy. I totally believe the reviewers that have good experiences, it's just disappointing that the quality varies so greatly from dish to dish and they are chronically understaffed. And the old seafood bisque is unforgivable. I am seriously sorry, because they clearly try very hard. read more

I spent Thursday and Friday night in Boulder City. I was visiting my sister in Las Vegas. We decided to go to the lake, which is odd because it isn't a real lake- it is man made, and ended up booking a room in some dive just so we could drink and not drive back to Las Vegas. Vegas isn't too far away but we didn't want to drive after a day in the sun and we wanted to blow off some steam. Boulder City is pretty strange. The people there have an arrogance that is funny when compared to how crappy the town is. There is two grocery stores. No real bars. I couldn't find a Buffallo Wild Wings or a bar with a casino. We took a tour of the measum, which is a joke. Friday night we went out to recommended Dillingers. The lady at the starbucks said they were good and poured a mean drink. The manager guy isn't friendly. I believe my money is just as green as anyone elses. He seemed to spend his time flirting with locals. The locals were cool though, the younger ones at least. We had a small meal at Dillingers but walked outside to hear 80's music blasting. We walked passed another bar, dead inside and a table of cowboys, yes cowboys, sitting outside bitching about the music. we made it to the brew pub with the band. Great band but the place smelled like Bleach. i didnt know if i should trust my drink. That was turn off. It was an older crowd but it was still fun. I had a great "locals" beer... so good I can't remember what it was called. On our way out I bumped into the dude from alice in Chans. He wasn't that nice either but he signed my lake thingy. He was yelling at some chick on the phone about being late or something. Maybe the tour bus broke down there! After this we walked to a wine bar. This place was ok but the bar next door was rocking with men and bi women, which is where we stayed. All in all Boulder City isn't too bad for a small hick town. i will say my room in the dive hotel in boulder Ciuty wasnt as dirty as my room at circus circus. read that review read more

Boulder City is limited on food options. So, I am not sure what I would do if The Dillinger didn't exist. The day I visited the atmosphere was a hodgepodge of tourists, locals and one possible celebrity? Cops seemed to be chowing on burgers, tourists were in awe at the "coziness" of the restaurant, which MAYBE could fit a total of twenty people, and I spotted this infamous chick (in the music writing industry anyway) picking up food to go. The food was OK. Well, for Boulder City the food was GREAT. I had a burger and fries. Hard to go wrong with my order's simplicity. All in all, The Dillinger has the potential to be legendary among tourist and locals if they went slightly above what is expected from a small town watering hole's menu. The decor is great. I wish the waitresses would wear outfits that matched! Old Cowgirl outfits with cowboy hats. Just an idea. I did try another restaurant on the main road in Boulder City. I'm reviewing them next. I read about The Dillinger in Seven Magazine a while back. Next, I heard about the place by a friend who works out that way. Finally, I got a Tweet that a certain celebrity, and his former writer girlfriend / baby mama, have a vacation home in town and they are in the place often. So, I had to see what all this buzz was about. I went during some kind of "hell" weekend. A bunch of Las Vegas jerks were crowding the bar. I say this politely as I am one of those jerks! I didn't mind waiting because I knew the food would be fresh. My burger tasted ordinary but this could also be because the place was swamped. The fries were good and they do offer dead guy ale on tap, this is a plus! Would I make the drive again from Vegas for their food? No! Would I make the drive again to sit around with friends and drink after a day at the lake? Probably. Great decor, great drinks, great prices. Came here with my husband on a Sunday. We waited about half an hour to be seated, they were pretty busy. Ordered drinks and food pretty quick. Our appetizer came out thirty minutes later and our food was five minutes behind that. Granted it's a bar/restaurant... But still. Food was ok. My husband had the peanut butter burger, he didn't like it and neither did I, but it was cooked well the flavors just didn't go together. I had basically a patty melt with thousand island. Couldn't taste the thousand island so basically it was meat cheese and onions. Good flavor and cooked well. Fries were average. Sweet potato fries were good and coated in sugar and cinnamon. Frickin pickles were the best part! Definitely order that for an appetizer. Overall the food was pretty good, you could tell the burgers were good quality meat. We took the Hoover Dam Tour from Las Vegas and we stopped at the Boulder City Dam Hotel. We were told that it was a good place to eat and also, there was a place up the street called The Dillinger which also had "good food". That was the understatement of the century! I looked over their menu and saw that the "Dillinger" was their signature burger. I decided to go with it and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. I wish the drinks in NYC could be as comparable when it comes to price vs. strength! As a traveling local, I visit The Dillinger as often as possible. Being as it was over 110 degrees we had to decide fast. We first stopped at Mimi's and looked at their menu, but their salads were over $60 so we quickly moved onto Sonrisa. We were destroyed by the sun and dying of thirst. Neither the waitress, hostess or food server got us any water for a good 5 mins. This is only noteworthy because the majority of the businesses here seem to get very little business (judging by all the spaces for lease and lack of foot traffic), so they should be MUCH more attentive to customers when they get them. The waitress finally got us our water, she had a small wedding party to attend to, so she gets a pass. But the others clearly could have given her an assist. I've worked in a restaurant and the best ones are when they work as a team with one common goal and help each other out. After that we got our orders in. I asked if the tacos were crispy or street tacos and she said "semi crisp". I've never heard this description before at a Mexican restaurant, it's either Dorado or soft. But what she meant was that they were crispy, just not out of the box, pan fried with some chew still. Which is great that's how I make it and like it. This brief interaction with the restaurant, combined with being located in somewhat of a "touristy" type location, had my expectations fairly low. But to our surprise, everyone really liked what they got. One thing that was really apparent was the abundance of protein in the beef tacos, carne asada burrito and fish tacos -- packed with meat. The beans had really good, rich, lardy flavor. I knew they'd be heavy and they were, but tasted great. The portions weren't huge but just enough, and I'm glad they weren't because you always leave a Mexican restaurant too full when you order combo plates. So heavy on the meat and light on the rice and beans, was surprisingly the way to go. I'm fairly certain the chips were made in house, didn't seem like any store bought ones I've ever had. The salsa had an initial marinara taste to it, but then the slight heat legitimized it. I always tell people I always prefer my Mexican food to "3 star" level -- simple, no frills, authentic. I don't want elevated, fusion, fancy presentation, etc. and Sonrisa really delivered on that. I'm not in Lake Las Vegas very often, but I would definitely come back here whenever I do. I hope they succeed as a business but need to step up the awareness of the staff to ensure it.
