I was shopping for a graduation gift for my grandson. The dinosaurs are his favorite, so this was a no brainer! I found the store is larger than their frontage appears. Besides dinosaurs, there were girl's toys, Demon Hunter toys and several kid's books. The most fantastic thing is there is free gift wrapping and kind staff. I wish I could give them 10 stars! This place is so fantastic! They let the kids play with the toys and they don't mind you hanging around for a while. They have a train set in the back that my toddler loves to play with. They also have music/story time on Wednesday mornings (11:30). The owner and his son are so kind and clearly love kids. They have a great curation of toys (Fatbrain, haba, green toys, jellycat etc) and constantly bring in new items. They also have a small collection of books. We love it here! Please consider supporting small businesses even if they cost slightly more than big box stores. read more

30 YEARS OF BUSINESS IN PASADENA AND NOT EXTINCT! I was one of those dinosaur kids growing up and I know I would have loved this place if I visited as a kid. Heck, learning of its existence, I love it even now as an adult. Everything is very dinosaur themed and very geared towards both children and the community. They have events that support the community too such as book readings and much more. Make sure to join their email list before checking out. I love that they also have cute dinosaur themed gift wrapping paper too. I think a neat touch that they have is all the dinosaur art that they have on the walls as well as the cute dinosaur trinkets and toys that they have all around. I love the variety of little plastic dinosaur figurines that they have. Probably the most diversity of species that I have seen and in the most sizes too. Some which I have never even heard of, so much more than the stereotypical T-rex and Triceratops that you can find anywhere else. Also, fear not, there are toys and other goods for the other children in your family/party who may not be as dinosaur inclined if that is your worry. I got a really neat Dinosaur Farm t-shirt there (they come in blue and green) and a little figure for my desk. It def more of a toy store geared towards children than a super educational museum store towards geeky adults, but that's fine with me too! I was racially profiled here by the owner -- while with my five-year-old daughter and a relative. I'd visited many times before, buying gifts for every kid I know and love. I especially appreciated the gift wrapping. My dear friend, who lives a block away, introduced me to the shop during our visits to 2 Kids Coffee nearby. As any parent in LA knows, good independent toy stores are rare -- when you find one, you support it. I kept it a secret until my daughter was old enough to make the trip with me - without it being fussy. This was her first time inside. As a small business owner myself -- I own coffee shops -- I understand what it means to build something. Which is part of why what happened hurt as much as it did. We had already paid. The cashier -- who had helped me warmly on past visits without knowing it -- asked me to hold onto the handled bag she'd given me while she finished wrapping our gifts. We stood about five feet from the register, laughing with my daughter and debating whether to add a few soft washable books to a birthday stack for my nephew. Our backs were to the register. Then a loud voice came from right behind us -- "Is there something I can do for you?" We turned, and the owner was staring directly at the bag his own team had given us. His staff, who had been busy, all stopped. They saw exactly what was happening -- and I think he didn't even notice them watching, because he was so focused on us. I said, confused, "We're waiting for our gifts to be wrapped." No apology. No acknowledgment. Just a ruined experience. What he missed, while surveilling us, were the teenagers across the store slipping small dinosaur toys into their pockets. It is deeply insulting that this business carries books by BIPOC authors while treating Black customers this way. That's not allyship -- it's performance. I've gone back and forth about posting this because the staff is genuinely wonderful and I don't want to harm them. But I also feel a responsibility to my community. People deserve to know. So now, on our usual Rice & Nori visits, I explain to my five-year-old why we don't go into Dinosaur Farm anymore. "They treated us badly," I tell her. "We do not spend money in places where we are treated badly." She understands. Dinosaur Farm is off the list -- and that loss belongs entirely to the owner. read more

Very cute toy store in Pasadena with a diverse selection of items not limited to dinosaurs as the name might have you believe but they do have a large selection of dinosaurs books, figures, and plushy's. I brought my niece here because it said they sold jelly cats, and I got her a few of them Coupled with some slime. We brought in a 6 year old boy with twenty dollars burning a hole in his pocket. Left with a bag full of dinosaur themed toys and a very satisfied future first grader. He loved it and it was not expensive at all. One of the workers, gave us directions and advice to a local neighborhood park. We went there and had a very enjoyable relaxing day at the park. I was looking for a well stocked Toy Story and was directed to the Dino farm. I called ahead and they answered quickly and did not mind walking over and confirm they had hot wheels tracks (what my son wanted), with enough options for him to be able to choose. Arrived at the store with my toddler at 4 pm on a Wednesday. There is free street parking that we used, but I believe there may be some parking in the back as well. This was delightful decorated story pack with toys (name brand and otherwise). There were 2 ladies working and they clearly love kids and their job. They did not mind that my son wanted to play with anything and everything. We hung out in the store for an hour and spent about $100 on a hot wheel track, some hot wheels, a book and a game. Are they as cheap as Amazon meh but not tons pricier and you pay for the service and experience as well so I didn't mind. Great trip 10 out of 10 recommend a trip to this store if only to get that magical toy store feeling that toys r us used to give! read more

Last Sunday afternoon, my family and I had a very uncomfortable experience while visiting this store. We are locals and finally found time for a family visit. My son's initially loved the colors and the variety of stock. However, upon coming in we were greeted with immediate stares. The vibe was def off. There were at least five people behind the register and no one said hello or offered assistance. While we appreciate the diversity of the library the inclusivity was not met with the same energy. My husband and I, being a family of color, ultimately didn't feel welcome in the store. It was if we were the first people of color to shop there. We purchased quite a few things in-spite of the energy. One of the books happened to be a board book on Juneteenth, where one of your cashiers proceeded to wish us a "Happy Juneteenth" (in reference to a book we purchased) on our way out. Overall, we felt studied and stalked; not free to explore the business as respectful paying customers. Reading back to other previous reviews, we're not the only ones who have had customer service issues. read more

I can say with absolute certainty that this is one of the best places for gifts concerning dinosaurs in the entire United States. Easily tops several of the large Museum of Natural History gift shops. I was "that dinosaur kid" when I was younger, and walking into this place meant the world to me. I lived in Los Angeles for a couple years, and found myself taking the light rail transit almost every weekend, and this little spot in South Pasadena was an incredible find. It's normally boisterous inside given that it is a toy shop, but the assistants behind the register were always kind and courteous. Meeting Dave and being able to have a great discussion about the store was also a fun experience, be sure to ask him if you can take a look inside his office! Lots of figures that are no longer in production adorn the shelves there. Being a huge fan and participating in discussion with enthusiasts throughout the world on the paleo-artistic representation of figures and statues available to the public, this place brings me joy seeing Doug Watson's sculpts from Safari LTD get massive shelf representation. Papo is always a favorite, and they also carry CollectA figures which are a rare find in the states. Schleich can be found here as well. Support local businesses! Such a cute toy store. They have a room dedicated to Dino's! My kids were in heaven. They take covid precautions seriously. There is a bottle of hand San at entrance greeting you and a sign that asks you to keep your mask on and no see thru mesh type masks please. Right on! This store is so clean and well kept. I was greeted several times by staff and loved every nook and crannie in the store as we discovered each corner. The books are a great selection for every age of young readers. Little hidden gem in South Pasadena!! It's very difficult to find an old independent owned you store nowadays and there they are, sharing joy for 25 years! Love the roaring dino when walked out n the store, they have lots and lots cool toys, I almost bought a trash truck for a friend who work in the industry. Spent almost half an hour in the fairy section, everything is whiscal and sparkly. We went to the dinosaur farm for the first time with our toddler. There is an option to not wear masks under basis, we chose to still wear ours: our baby is under 2 so he didn't. However employees were all still wearing coverings. When we entered; it was like he entered toy heaven! He has been really interested in dinosaurs lately, hence his Dino t-shirt for his trip to the Dino Farm. There is a wide variety of different toys from Figurines, puzzles, stuffed animals and books. Perfect for all different ages! A definite stop over when you are in South Pasadena. We picked up the Dino clacker; abc puzzle and some Dino games while there. I just want to say every staff member was super friendly and helpful. They were welcoming and nice. I was a little disappointed in the lack of dinosaur items. The name of their store is slightly misleading. I was not expecting the whole store being dinosaur things but at least half. There was only a little side room of dinosaur items. Twas a dreary day of rain in the middle of January and I was per usual leaving a baby shower gift till the very last minute. More like the shower had started and I was already 30 minutes late in a literal shower of rain. The host of the shower requested we give books instead of cards. And of course I had a duh moment and realized this meant baby books not adult reads. (Childless I am). I quick yelped and realized chain book stores don't exist in 2023. That's how much I read these days. So here I am running to a Dinosaur themed store hoping they sell baby books. Well I'm not as dumb as I sound cause Dave (store owner) greeted me along with 4 other friendly faces and directed me to the book department of the store. One of the reasons I was late was cause I read Dave's yelp bio and found his path to owning a dino store very intriguing. A thriving career as a song writer and an accomplished musician had decided to open a toy store...how random. It was fun to see Dave on this day and learn the story of how his path lead him to dinosaurs. I'll let him tell you himself when you meet him... With very little time to spare I found an incredibly sweet and adorably illustrated book aptly called "5 minute bedtime stories". My years of baby sitting reminded me of those tough moments getting kids to bed quickly. The stories were so sweet and loving and I had wished some of the parents I worked for had this easy option on their shelves. Needless to say the mom (to be) sent me a text after the shower with pics of her favorite story in the book and how she loved it. (She wouldn't do this to be nice, so it was legit). And like they say on the website Dave's salesperson wrapped my book to perfection. (Saved me another 10 minutes of being late.) I see why it's a five star buisness. Good products, fun and unique gifts I haven't seen anywhere else. Fun, happy people working at the store...including Dave himself. A store dedicated to toys, games, dolls and almost anything that will keep your kids' spirit alive. The store clerks are very helpful when needed, but also give you space.
