Went to The Dish Cafe for Sunday brunch after some hiking. The reviews were pretty good- but it was not good for me or my dining partners. We were seated in the bar area- and the barrel chairs were comfy- but it was quite dark and didn't really feel like brunch-time dining. Service was ok- everyone was nice. The food was just not good. At all. Two of us had eggs Benedict- which in my opinion- succeeds or fails on the hollandaise. This was a failure- the hollandaise tasted of mustard and not much else. The ham (Canadian bacon) was tough- it seemed overcooked and it took some effort to saw through the poached egg-ham-English muffin. My fruit side was the best thing I ate there (so that's good for the fruit-not so good for the rest of the food). The waffle side was a typical hotel-made waffle- meh. The biscuits and gravy had virtually no flavor except salt. The biscuit alone was also not good- cold and dense. The over easy egg side was cooked more to over medium. The cheese fries for a starter were also not good. The fries were undercooked with mounds of cheese on top. I generally love French fries- but these were a no-go. This was certainly a disappointment- and if I lived in the area- I would likely not return- ever. :(

We enjoyed our visit at The Dish. The farm to table concept is executed perfectly. We started with fresh made pork rinds. They came out literally still cracklin. We had the pleasure of tasting the Steak and Eggs. My companion had the Eggs Benedict. We finished with the Avocado Brownie and a scoop of ice cream. Every thing was delicious. I would make an effort to eat here if ever in the area again.

Service was great! Comfortable captain chairs! The burger was delicious! The Dish claims to be a local restaurant with the people favorites! They won a few local awards in past years and have a very tasty Hey Jack Burger. I was very disappointed they ran out of sweet potatoes fries and the family's recipe of Reese's peanut butter pie. Very sad. Overall, we did leave excited about the local found restaurant and we will be back!!!

On a roadtrip to VA from OH, you don't expect to find a fabulous cafe with clean eats and tons of vegetarian options, but that's exactly what we stumbled into in WV recently! We actually loved the Dish Cafe so much that we returned to eat there again on our way back up to Ohio. The food was tasty, fresh and wholesome - no potential bathroom issues to derail our roadtrip. The first visit, I had the falafel and bestie had the veggie burger. Both were great but I would have loved more veggies and more sauce on the falafel. We both had the sweet potato fries which were SUPERB - like best ever. On our return trip, we both had the veggie burger and sweet potato fries, plus another companion had a delicious salad. Then, we tried the sticky toffee bread pudding which was out of this world good. Bottom line, this place is open 7 days a week and is an absolute treasure. I'd love to come back again someday if we're ever traveling through WV again!

I was excited to stop here on my way through town. Atmosphere is cute, menu had a nice variety. We were seated quickly & drinks came right out but I think they were short staffed so service was good when she was able to come over. Food was good and I wasn't sorry we chose this spot but it was definitely on the expensive side and service and timing could have been so much better. We were done eating & waited 10 minutes (yes I looked) before I got up to find our waitress to pay.

First visit and all I can say is simply AMAZING!!! Food was EXCELLENT AND FRESH!!!! Potato Soup for starters perfectly seasoned. House Burger (Grass feed beef) cooked to perfection and a side of kettle chips YUMMY! Waiter JON was absolutely the BEST WAITER!!!When we travel this way again we will be stopping in!!! My husband and I were staying at The Glade Spring Resort, and wasn't pleased with the food. We stopped by The Dish Cafe for dinner and loved the food. We have traveled a lot and this place is one of our favorites. We had to sample most of the appetizers and they were all great. Our favorite was the tomato soup and the salmon! After months of hearing raving reviews, I met a friend there for dinner. I'm just sorry that I waited so long to experience the wonderful food and amazing service from a local restaurant! Our waiter, John, made the experience unforgettable. He made great suggestions of things to order, everything was delicious, and he was very friendly and entertaining. Even my friend's son loved all of the delicious food, from the entrees to the desserts. We were each sampling from the other plates because it all looked so good, you couldn't help but want to try it all! We will definitely be going back soon! read more

Checked this place it while we are passing through. Hotel staff recommended it and it was the best decision! First the pretzels and pimento cheese were so good! Then we had the surf and turf. BEST STEAK BE EVER HAD. Seasoned so well and had the flavor. If you are anywhere near this place you have to go. Sad we don't live closer so we could visit more often! read more

My husband and I ate at The Dish Cafe a few times when it first opened and were not impressed. A friend talked me into giving it another try. I am so glad I did. The food was amazing! I convenced my husband to likewise give it a try and he also was impressed. I feel like we will be going there more and more. The service is as great as the food. Good job Dish! read more

Just visited this lovely restaurant for the first time. Taken by a friend who had been 4 or 5 times and loved it. Wow! I was impressed with both the menu and the service. Had the lettuce wraps as an appetizer...so good!! Had Cajun shrimp and polenta as a main, wow!! looked fantastic when brought to table and tasted even better than it looked, if that's possible! Peanut butter pie to finish that was beautifully creamy! Service was great and owner came around to speak to us, very accommodating! Love the décor too! I'm so amazed that a restaurant this nice is located in little Daniels, WV. I will definitely return! read more

This site has been very helpful in my travels while trying to find restaurants that prepare fresh and natural foods. Health issues have cased the need for me to pay better attention to my diet. And a few months ago this restaurant not only had awesome reviews but also came highly recommended from I local resort I stayed at. I generally fly under the radar but I decided to add my two cents due to a recent review concerning service and price. I cannot speak for the service this person received but I can say that I have always had excellent service in the dining room and the bar. It is probably the best service on a consistent basis that I receive from any restaurant I dine at on the east coast, including Asheville. This particular restaurant uses quality, natural, and organic ingredients in their foods. The food is about as fresh as you can get as well. You can tell by the flavor! I personally purchase grass feed meats and other various natural and organic product at home. I can tell you it is much more expensive. This product is not any cheaper in this neck of the woods either. I am pleasantly surprised they are able to charge as little as they do. Anyway, that is my two cents. Thank you Dish for the awesome food and service! read more

The service was extremely friendly and the restaurant was clean, bathrooms were clean, and and atmosphere was nice. We didn't have to wait for a table and we had plenty of space at our half circle booth. They have TV's at almost every table, but it still doesn't get too loud in there with all of them on, which is nice for those of us who go to eat to have conversations. After we ordered, the wait for our food was 45 minutes, which seemed crazy considering that it was a Monday night and they weren't extremely busy. They do offer specials (Military Monday discount) so that was helpful, but overall it's expensive to go with your family. The asparagus came burnt and dried out, and the Parmesan Pasta was really dry and lacking flavor. The grilled chicken was also dry. The mac and cheese was good and the steak was good. read more

Yes, it's in a strip mall near a dollar store, but go anyway! Food is excellent, staff is friendly and interior is pleasant. My husband loved his pasta, i loved my falafel salad. Their version of falafel is unique, but delicious anyway. read more

Dish Cafe was terrific. We found it on YELP while driving cross country. Looked so good that we drove an extra hour on the highway to eat here. Worth it! There are a few things I look for in a restaurant (especially in a new community): 1. Good food. 2. Great service. 3. Local flavors. 4. Interesting space. Dish Cafe passed all four with flying colors. Lots of stuff made in house (bread, sauces, baked desserts, etc.) and plenty of locally sourced food. The Hey Jac Burger was awesome, and get the chipotle aioli for fries (or anything else). It has just the right kick and great flavor. Service was terrific and everyone made us feel like regulars. Space is clean and nice, too. Clearly looks like someone put some thought in the design. We were so stuffed we couldn't fit dessert, but did get an avocado brownie to go. Will update later on that. If I was local, I would definitely come back. As it is, I'll be planning another stop on the drive back through West Virginia. read more

I think about this place all the time. I live out of state and only get to experience this gem when I'm passing through from Northern Virginia to visit family in the Beckley and Charleston area. The polenta, the burgers, the flatbread, the peanut butter pie are just a few things I've had. And when I tell you they are amazing I mean it. I even ran into a guy that works at the Enterprise in Lewisburg who wishes he could go for lunch everyday. It's that kind of place. Go and experience it for yourself! Love The Dish! When dining out, I want a restaurant that prepares the meal, not just warms up frozen entrees they got from a food distributor. The portion sizes are perfect. Not double the amount of food you can eat when a restaurant also doubles the price. Fresh vegetables amazing, seafood full of flavor, grass feed beef and awesome vegetarian options. What a pleasure it was to enjoy an excellent dinner while catching up with old friends. I had the stuffed portabello and the trout entree and loved them both. The Dish Cafe offers the best of what local cuisine can be - featuring locally sourced meat, fish and veggies along with an authentic and welcoming vibe. However, even though the $12.00 hamburger I ate was delicious, I thought it was too small in size for that price. As we were travelling north on I77, I looked up places to eat and came across 'The Dish Cafe' located in Beaver/Daniel's (just off of I64) West Virginia. After looking at the menu we knew we wanted to check it out. The food was excellent, everything home made and our server John, was nice, friendly, and very accommodating. We would definitely recommend this for a pleasant surprise and really excellent tasting food. read more

Yelp reviews are pretty accurate for this little gem of a restaurant! Jon's level of service was impressive and the food was everything he hyped it up to be, including dessert! We ordered the Avocado Brownie and the Peanut Butter pie to share. We paired a bite of each together for the ultimate chocolate peanut butter taste experience! Too bad we were just passing through. We stopped here for dinner after a day of traveling and we couldn't have asked for anything better. I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup which was AMAAZING, I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for really good comfort food. We came in close to closing time but they were so nice about it, we didn't feel unwelcome or pressured to rush at all. If we lived closer I would be here all the time read more

The Dish Cafe is an eclectic culinary delight bringing unique flavor combinations and fresh ingredients to the table. Our concept was created by a group of local partners who wanted to offer healthier food (not pre-made, frozen or genetically modified) to a community that's quickly discovering the health benefits of fresh, natural and whole ingredients. We offer regionally grown fruits and vegetables, grass fed burgers and hormone and antibiotic free chicken.

Meet the Business Owner: Michelle R.

The Dish Cafe is owned by a group of investors/partners: Michelle Rotellini, Mark Rotellini, Rosy Corley, Beverly Hall, Devin Billeter and Tammy Billeter. The six came together with different backgrounds and areas of expertise to create a concept that reflects the new standards diners have when they go out to eat. The partners are hard working, involved and conscientious about their food sources and the way their food is prepared. You'll never eat something fried in unhealthy oils, coated in fake butter or disguised by chemical ingredients used to improve taste.

Drink orders consisted of two waters and two iced tea with lemon. Our waitress said she didn't know if they had lemons and needed to go find out. She returned with a single tea and no water, apologizing "we only have enough tea for one glass." Seriously? At supper time??? Nope. We left and won't be back...unless we need a fishing partner.

The Dish Cafe, an unsuspecting place located next to a Dollar General just outside of town, was a close second in the running for the most amazing experience of my short time in WV, coming just behind the views of the Main Overlook over New River (just a quick 20 minutes away, and very worth the drive!). I ordered the salmon, cooked to absolute perfection with a wonderfully (but mildly) sweet glaze. I had the vegetable of the day, asparagus that was just grilled to just crispy enough on the top and just barely seasoned (as asparagus should be), and the edamame, craisin, and feta dish that was an immaculate amalgamation of regional tastes in one beautiful little bowl. My dad ordered the pecan crusted trout, just sweet enough to compliment the locally-caught (not raised!) fish. Alongside the trout came the chili, a fantastic bowl, but fell to the glorious perfection of the Mac and cheese. Made with a smokey rue of parmesan (brave) and spices, the manicotti needn't even hold the sauce to become the best mac on either side of the Mississippi (an opinion I will gladly defend). But even beyond the food I'd the service and the pride of The Dish Cafe. Kaycee, our server, glowed with pride when describing each dish and answering all of the many questions we had. She was eager to offer an opinion, all honest and positive, and I can't imagine she would have been wrong about any given item. She gladly shared each of the specials prepared throughout the week and shared on their social media, explaining to us how the chef created each special unique to each week, as well as curating the entire menu. A nephew of the owners, the chef is self-taught, and it shows. The recipes (like the edamame dish) are just far enough outside the box to challenge the most conservative eaters and surprise the most daring. The chef has an obvious gift untouched by the narrow walls of formal culinary training, highlighted even more by the conscious sourcing and progressive selection on the menu. Grass-fed local beef, sustainably caught salmon, and enough vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options to make the restaurant safe, healthy, and delicious for everyone. The Dish Cafe was the greatest surprise during our week of Eastward travel. With the pride of the restaurant and the beauty of the surrounding Beaver and Daniels towns, it is worth any distance of detour. read more

I would definitely go back and eat here. I took my wife and 2 kids and our server, John, was cheerful and made the experience a pleasant one. We were passing through on the interstate and decided we wanted a unique & local flavor as opposed to a franchise. All of the food tasted great. We started with the "Firecracker Shrimp" which were fantastic. I had the "Hey Jack Burger" with homemade chips, which was very good not to mention filling. We finished with the Avocado Brownie. Yum! The restaurant itself was clean and the bathrooms were pristine. Each table has a personal TV with cable which is handy for entertaining kids while waiting. This restaurant is refreshingly unique. Healthy homegrown vegetables and other dishes prepared so well that you are not aware they are so good for you. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable.
