Stopped by The Dish Cafe on our way to Niagara Falls. The food was excellent, as well as our sever Eric. Husband and son had burgers, both were perfectly cook and enjoyed. My daughters had the pasta. The tomato sauce on the chicken Parmesan tasted homemade and was so delicious. I had the shrimp and polenta which was also delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with any dish from here. Even the salads and homemade dressing were exceptional. Definitely worth the short trek off our route for such delicious food and GREAT service! read more

I ate a chicken parmesan pasta with a side of macaroni n' cheese and it was super delicious!!! The chicken was meaty, the pasta was saucy with cheese, and the flavor at perfect balance (I also ate a delicious entree which included fried pickles and ranch sauce)!! What I also really liked is the fact that I could eat my dinner while watching Fox News because there aware mini TVs in almost every table (talk about a side of deliciousness with a side of entertainment)!!!! Checked this place it while we are passing through. Hotel staff recommended it and it was the best decision! First the pretzels and pimento cheese were so good! Then we had the surf and turf. After months of hearing raving reviews, I met a friend there for dinner. I'm just sorry that I waited so long to experience the wonderful food and amazing service from a local restaurant! Our waiter, John, made the experience unforgettable. He made great suggestions of things to order, everything was delicious, and he was very friendly and entertaining. Even my friend's son loved all of the delicious food, from the entrees to the desserts. Just visited this lovely restaurant for the first time. Taken by a friend who had been 4 or 5 times and loved it. Wow! I was impressed with both the menu and the service. Had the lettuce wraps as an appetizer...so good!! Had Cajun shrimp and polenta as a main, wow!! looked fantastic when brought to table and tasted even better than it looked, if that's possible! Peanut butter pie to finish that was beautifully creamy! Service was great and owner came around to speak to us, very accommodating! Love the décor too! This site has been very helpful in my travels while trying to find restaurants that prepare fresh and natural foods. Health issues have cased the need for me to pay better attention to my diet. And a few months ago this restaurant not only had awesome reviews but also came highly recommended from I local resort I stayed at. I generally fly under the radar but I decided to add my two cents due to a recent review concerning service and price. I cannot speak for the service this person received but I can say that I have always had excellent service in the dining room and the bar. It is probably the best service on a consistent basis that I receive from any restaurant I dine at on the east coast, including Asheville. This particular restaurant uses quality, natural, and organic ingredients in their foods. The food is about as fresh as you can get as well. You can tell by the flavor! I personally purchase grass feed meats and other various natural and organic product at home. I can tell you it is much more expensive. This product is not any cheaper in this neck of the woods either. I am pleasantly surprised they are able to charge as little as they do. Anyway, that is my two cents. The service was extremely friendly and the restaurant was clean, bathrooms were clean, and and atmosphere was nice. We didn't have to wait for a table and we had plenty of space at our half circle booth. They have TV's at almost every table, but it still doesn't get too loud in there with all of them on, which is nice for those of us who go to eat to have conversations. After we ordered, the wait for our food was 45 minutes, which seemed crazy considering that it was a Monday night and they weren't extremely busy. They do offer specials (Military Monday discount) so that was helpful, but overall it's expensive to go with your family. The asparagus came burnt and dried out, and the Parmesan Pasta was really dry and lacking flavor. The grilled chicken was also dry. The mac and cheese was good and the steak was good. read more

I think about this place all the time. I live out of state and only get to experience this gem when I'm passing through from Northern Virginia to visit family in the Beckley and Charleston area. The polenta, the burgers, the flatbread, the peanut butter pie are just a few things I've had. And when I tell you they are amazing I mean it. I even ran into a guy that works at the Enterprise in Lewisburg who wishes he could go for lunch everyday. It's that kind of place. Go and experience it for yourself! Dish Cafe was terrific. We found it on YELP while driving cross country. Looked so good that we drove an extra hour on the highway to eat here. Worth it! There are a few things I look for in a restaurant (especially in a new community): 1. Good food. 2. Great service. 3. Local flavors. 4. Interesting space. Dish Cafe passed all four with flying colors. Lots of stuff made in house (bread, sauces, baked desserts, etc.) and plenty of locally sourced food. The Hey Jac Burger was awesome, and get the chipotle aioli for fries (or anything else). It has just the right kick and great flavor. Service was terrific and everyone made us feel like regulars. Space is clean and nice, too. Clearly looks like someone put some thought in the design. We were so stuffed we couldn't fit dessert, but did get an avocado brownie to go. Will update later on that. If I was local, I would definitely come back. As it is, I'll be planning another stop on the drive back through West Virginia. read more

However, even though the $12.00 hamburger I ate was delicious, I thought it was too small in size for that price. As we were travelling north on I77, I looked up places to eat and came across 'The Dish Cafe' located in Beaver/Daniel's (just off of I64) West Virginia. After looking at the menu we knew we wanted to check it out. The food was excellent, everything home made and our server John, was nice, friendly, and very accommodating.
