Always number one for us! Excellent service and the best steaks in southern WV. You have to try the shrimp chowder. We also love their 'steak fingers' appetizer as well as their crabmeat cocktail or shrimp cocktail. We've been regulars for well over twenty five years and have never been disappointed. Debbie's the best! We do miss Marie, Ann & Robert was my favorite bartender of all times. Have a drink at the bar while you wait on busy nights and enjoy! If you get there early you can dine by the window overlooking the pond and all the wildlife!

Went for our anniversary dinner, I can't wait to go back every thing was so delicious. I hardly ever order pork chops out because they are usually dry, this was one of the best pork chops I have ever ate. If I could give more than 5 stars I would, I highly recommend this place.

"Char in Beckley, West Virginia, offers a delightful ambiance, delectable cuisine, and affordable prices. Teresa, our server, was exceptional. The Char is truly a gem of Beckley. A must-visit spot for a wonderful dining experience!"

I decided on Char after searching Yelp for steakhouses in Beckley, West Virginia. Yelp has never failed me before and it didn't this time. I needed a nice restaurant for my sisters sixty-ninth birthday and Char fit the bill. The service was good and the staff was attentive. We started the night with the fried oysters. They were good but something was missing (I think it needed a little Tobasco). For our entrees, I order the ribeye and fettuccine Alfredo. That ribeye was cooked a perfect medium and y'all it was so tasty. Three ordered shrimp, and one ordered crab cakes. There wasn't a complaint at the table. As a matter of fact, it was quiet because everyone was stuffing their face. The service was really good and our server Theresa was great. If you're ever in Beckley, WV, go check them out.

    Entry fireplace, so welcoming.

RRR and I were on a quick visit to see old friends in Virginia and stopped in Beckley WVa for an overnight on the way home. As most of us do, I researched restaurants on the way there and found this little gem. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. We won!! The restaurant is just a hop, skip and a jump from I64 at a very busy exit. There are lots of hotels and eateries in the area but you needn't drive too far past all of the chains to find this spot. We drove in on a curvy tree lined drive to the restaurant and found the place very busy on a Saturday night (7:30 pm mid October). We had almost no wait but I think we were just lucky. To the gist, we both had a glass of decent wine (most sold by the bottle), and asked for our bread early (hot Italian from the oven). We ordered our meals of the special side salad, small 5 oz filet, medium rare, brussel sprouts for me, baked potato for RRR. The salads came fairly quickly but with an apology from waitress Deb for coming out slowly. I had asked for no Romano cheese, no bacon and dressing on the side (with my own apologies for being so picky) and it was perfect. Our dinner was truly slow to arrive but understandably so with such a crowd. We really enjoyed watching the well orchestrated dining room staff attending to all the other diners, especially the older of the two who cleared and reset tables, poured water etc. He was a master and a delight to observe! All of the staff seems attentive and well trained. Kudos to them and to the owners. Our salads were very good, our filets even better. The brussel sprouts and baked potato, shared between us, were also good. Altogether it was an unexpected and very fine experience all round. My only negative was the table of 6 plus who came in t shirts, men in ball caps turned around backwards and bringing a toddler at 9 pm. Nothing anyone can do about that, just obnoxious. Don't do it. Please.

Food and service are excellent. Go early because it's very busy. The steak is absolutely delicious and the lobster was very good also.

The decor is outdated, the food is mediocre, the prices are outrageous for the quality of food. The service is decent but that's it.

If you can, I'd recommend checking in and joining the waitlist beforehand so you can get seated as quickly as possible. Like most Texas Roadhouse locations, the atmosphere was buzzing and lively with all the college football games playing, the staff were super nice and attentive, and the food was excellent. My usual order is the rare Prime Rib with a Caesar Salad and Steak Fries -- with a side of creamy horseradish, of course! The salads at TR are always solid, the steak fries were especially crispy that day, and the prime rib was perfect: super tender, perfectly cooked, and not overly fatty. My sister also tried their Full Slab Ribs for the first time, which are supposedly award-winning, but I personally wouldn't give them that much credit. While the ribs were tender and well-cooked, they lacked seasoning. The BBQ sauce was there, but it didn't add much flavor. Maybe it was just an off day, but I'd call them mediocre at best. All in all, this Texas Roadhouse lives up to its reputation for great service and solid steaks -- but maybe skip the ribs and stick with the classics.

Mind you, the restaurant was not packed, but they seated us in between two tables when there were at least 6 other open tables in the room. Server was quick, friendly. I ordered breadsticks, not realizing that they provide bread for the table (I made the assumption they didn't based on the menu having bread and breadsticks listed). The breadsticks were a very odd texture - seemed doughy but they were not undercooked, lots of butter & garlic. I had the stuffed shells for my entree. My salad consisted of lettuce and cut up tomatoes (which I hate), nothing more. Therefore I had lettuce with my French dressing. The entree came out quickly and looked great. However, the ricotta on the inside of the stuffed shells was super creamy and not very tasty. The sauce was ok, not sweet enough for my liking, but not bad either. The shells themselves were al dente, but seemed chewy. My husband had the shrimp cocktail, which he enjoyed. He ordered the chicken parm with spaghetti as his side. The chicken parm looked great, but seemed to be a frozen chicken patty that was deep fried and drenched in sauce/mozzarella. The spaghetti was pretty good. Overall, meh. Won't be back, but we had something to eat and supported local not a franchise so there's that.

From the looks of the parking lot and the people waiting inside the entrance, I expected a wait of about an hour. No, they put us on a waiting list and had us seated within under 10 minutes. I am very pleasantly surprised with how great the service is here, considering how standards of customer service in the food industry have all but evaporated since the pandemic. You just can't find the the type of service that they offered us at this Outback Steakhouse anymore in a post-pandemic world - so treasure it where you can find it. They took too long getting our side order of chicken wings out. So they gave us the wings anyway, removed the wings from our bill, then the manager came over and personally apologized (after our server had already done the same thing), and gave us a voucher to compensate us for our troubles even further. Mind you, this is on a night when they are absolutely swamped with customers, and such a mistake could reasonably be overlooked anyway. I turned to my 10-year-old daughter and I told her, "THAT is how you make a mistake all right." Mistakes happen, but too few places these days are willing to make it right. If only all those other places would just learn from the staff at this Outback Steakhouse. Outstanding.

Not wanting to venture too far from the hotel we opted for this place to dine. This place was busy at the dinner hour, but not too busy for us to grab a seat. However, I think they could have sat us anywhere else than a table meant for six. It felt weird to have to scoot in and have that much space to yourself. I could have laid down to take a nap if I wanted to. Service was fantastic here. Our server was on top of her game, knew just about everything when it came to the menu. Never missed an opportunity to check in on us. For my food I went with the Ribeye and Grilled Shrimp. It comes with your choice of two sides. I opted for the Dressed Baked Potato and they included my Baked Potato Soup as my other side. My colleague kept assuring me that the food was going to be good. I had my reservations on that. First, the soup. I was expecting a heartly soup, but all I got in taste was salt. It was highly salty, the broth was a bit watery and did not really remind me of a baked potato. As for the main course, the theme of saltiness carried over. Everything was overly salty. The baked potato was caked in salt, but it did taste like a baked potato. The steak was cooked to my liking and the shrimp were alright. However, I found it funny that they completely crushed the bread and had it as about as flat as a piece of paper under the shrimp. This was a lot of food. I took half of it to go. However, with the amount of salt on it, I had no interest to partake in it any further. The highlight of my meal, the sangria. I would have had more of those knowing the salinity of my meal beforehand.
