Best overall dine out in over 20 years. Presentation is top notch. Great spotlight on local stuff including the bar which is heavy with Colorado produced liquor and beer. Highly recommend the Oaxaca Old Fashioned. Wife and I split the Black Goat salad, she had the salmon special and I had the Berkshire pork chop. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a wonderful outer crust. Ther pork chop was very tasting but the sauce bed under the chop and rustic veggies was the star for me. Finished up with the Butter Bread Pudding. It was fantastic. Wish I had the pictures to share but my wife has them and she is out of country. Check out web site photos and you'll get an idea. Wow, what a great surprise, right off I-70 in Eastern Colorado is an Oasis of heavenly cuisine. We got even more lucky to sit at the bar and be served by Bridget, a superb mixologist, great advice on what to eat, Pork Chop - amazing and BLT (subbing out bacon for mushrooms) for vegan. drinks were incredible, atmosphere fun and lively. we will return next time through town, with a long drive!! read more

I can't say enough great things about this place! We were stranded on our way to CO from OK due to a crazy snowstorm so we ate here for both lunch and dinner! We arrived around 11 am, thinking we would get on the road after lunch but then I70 closed. Our server, Jenna, advised us to grab a room at the Quality Inn across the street just in case we had to spend the night. So far lunch I had the beef pad Thai and my husband had a burger and tots. Wow, so so good! I got the sauce that was both spicy and sweet, but not too sweet. Had enough for leftovers. It had lotus root in it which was good and crunch, don't know if I had eaten that before! Went back to our room, took a nap, then realized we would not be getting on the road. So we were back at dinner. Our server was Kelsey and she was super friendly too. They made us really good old fashioneds, and we are pretty picky! Then I had this yummy butternut squash enchilada, gluten free, and my husband thought he wasn't hungry until he saw the pork belly and scallops on the menu! He loved it! It was incredible. This place.... straight up, I'll drive drive all the way from Denver just to indulge in their lamb mole...never in my life have I been so pleasantly surprised with my decision to try this out. How is it this peculiar spot in eastern Colorado has such food? Honestly, I have not met the owner, but apparently Ezra Gutierrez knows how to make a lasting impression because out of my last 10 visits here, I ended up with the LAMB MOLE 7 times. I think this owner has something to do with 4th & Main in Wray CO (more fire found there - best steak I've had in the state of Colorado for sure ) also. I joke, but seriously, the only two food establishments in eastern Colorado worth a visit. The people I've dealt with here have been nothing short of amazing, great staff, very friendly and helpful. Really 4.5 stars... Note that we called in an order and it literally took an hour to make still... fix that please, kinda ridiculous. I think if we showed up and just sat down we would have had our food sooner. read more

Not knowing what to expect, we'd arrived in Burlington, CO the just days before the 4th of July holiday 2019. I had "yelped" what was available in the way of cafes that was not fast food and was intrigued while reading a few of the recent reviews. Good husband that he is, the fella went along with my suggestion. Arrived, building looks like it used to be something else in another life. Sure enough upon asking our waitress, it was a bank. Seems right. Large spacious area as you enter, bar straight ahead with dining areas to the right and left as well as bar tables near the bar. We're seated and our drink order is taken. We peruse the menu, and await our drinks. Here they came, and we ordered rattler jalapeños -- wrapped with bacon, stuffed with cheese and filling. We were on a roll so we kept on and ordered the entrees. I ordered hoping this would be a dream meal made in heaven -- side salad with butternut squash enchilada. The husband ordered steak and a potato. Now in beef country, this steak should be an a BIG WINNER. I want to say we visited, but dude we were in the vehicle for too many hours to count having left Texas early in the morning. We were all talked out, so just took to looking around. Not long after here came the Rattlers. These are huge, overflowing stuffed jalapeños. These themselves could be a meal, of course your mouth will catch on fire or your lips burn off but whatever. So good. Not even through one and here comes the entrees. Oh so mouthwateringly beautiful. One of the chefs brought it over and I asked how had he thought of this recipe for butternut enchiladas. He said it was a lark, and now it was a crowd favorite that somehow he could not imagine there would be an opportunity anytime soon to take it off the menu. After a couple bites I could see why. Eventually I was nice enough to ask the husband how was his steak, and he too had the look of love on his face. I could tell though, he was making eyes at his plate, enjoying the Colorado beefsteak and huge potato. Well they say love is through the stomach. I win. Another Corona, another glass of wine and we slow down and watch the people. We had not thought of anything we not already said, any heavy talking had already been done, as I'd had a captive audience for more than ten hours. Eventually we ask for a to go box, as I know if I'm lucky I'll be eating that second enchilada, maybe part of the potato, and a couple rattlers the next day. James my server was not only approachable but he was professional and very attentive. I was in town for work and a co-worker suggested the restaurant for a great sit down meal. I am so glad I took him up on his suggestion. The night I dined here, they were having half off wine bottles. I'm not a lush, but I do know a good deal when I hear one so I took James up on his offer. The host that greeted me was friendly and very courteous. Their wine and cocktail menu is a book. Very impressive. I opted for the bottle of Relax and that is how my night went. I ordered the Dish Room Poppers which are Anaheim peppers wrapped with bacon filled with 3 types of cheeses and topped with ranch and an OG sauce. These peppers were anything but poppers. Each pepper was the size of my hand and it came with 4 peppers. This dish was phenomenal. A must try if you're ever in town. For my main course I was torn between the Japanese Striploin and the Butternut Squash Enchiladas. James helped me make my final decision by determining if I was looking more for a savory dish or sweet dish which is what the enchiladas would be. I was in the mood for more of a savory and got the Japanese Striploin. Oh. My. Lanta. I would SOOO be kicking myself had I missed out on this delectable morsel. The sirloin was glazed in miso adobo and they drizzled a smoked soy sauce. Goodness. I finished most of my dish which is really rare. The steak was cooked to PER. FEC. TION. And I mean. PERFECTION! Even the accompanying vegetables were too good to leave on my plate. I also ordered a side of their sweet corn tamale to see how it faired and goodness. I almost ate all of that too. Not overly sweet like some places make them to the point where a few bites in and you were done. Their sweet corn tamale was sweet enough to enjoy and then some. Sunday, May 19 12:00p Family of 3 adults We stopped by here on our second day of a long road trip to Seattle. We ordered the butternut squash enchiladas ($18), the toro burger ($13), and fried chicken (special of the day). Best Dish: Sweet Corn tamales! Not quite a traditional tamale, rather 3 ice cream scoops full of ground up corn bread covered in sauce and served on a tamale wrapper. It was excellent. Pros: Excellent dish presentation Cons: It took us around 35 minutes to get our food. We couldn't order dark meat only, and when we finally got the fried chicken, the crust was flavorless, damp, and falling off the chicken. Moreover, the drumstick was slightly pink on the inside (see attached picture). However, we let the waitress know and the cook did give us another fully cooked one. The toro burger was disappointingly ordinary. There wasn't anything special to the meat, there was no sauce, and the crispy onions were slightly stale. Most importantly, the buns weren't buttered or toasted (see attached picture). In my opinion, you can't make an extraordinary hamburger using plain buns, and without sauce it was especially dry. The butternut squash enchiladas were nice, but also froofy (lavishly decorated but unnecessarily expensive for the ingredients) and not something we need to have again. Overall, the experience didn't feel worth it for the price and wait time. I'm not sure why the reviews are so high, except that maybe people were so enamored by the presentation they overhyped the taste. read more

I have friends and family in the area and am glad that I came across this great restaurant. I know that most "city" people would not expect this kind of a restaurant to be located in Burlington, but by gee gosh golly I am elated to know it is here and look forward to the next time my family and I are able to come back. Even though we as a family had already had eaten not too long before our visit, we were able to sample a few different dishes. During Happy Hour, my wife and I we sampled the Duck Street Tacos and a couple drinks (one house cocktail and a wine), and then ordered to-go for our daughters the Wings appetizer and as well as the Chicken Alfredo Pasta. Needless to say I only had a bite of each of the Wings and the Pasta. ;-) Storytime: I left the delicious food with my wife and girls at the hotel while I left temporarily to grab some things from Love's convenience store before our departure the next day...and I came back not long afterwards to find that they had eaten all of the food. As much as I was full from from the day's food consuming excapades, I was looking forward to savory at least another taste...but alas. This all said, The Dish Room would be the perfect stop if you happened to have to make a pit-stop along your route between Denver and somewhere in Kansas (and the other way around)...or to even make a special trip there if you aren't that far away. Definitely a gem in the middle of the plains, but a must visit. They serve very high quality/well sourced/fresh foods. Can't wait to make it back here to sample other items! I don't know if it was just an off-day, but I really didn't see the hype about this place. Went for a special occasion for a friend. Everyone talks about this place so I was thrilled. Needless to say - very disappointed. Steak was decent but extremely unseasoned. Potatoes came out stark cold and also very flavorless. For $40 for one person's meal, you'd think these things wouldn't be like this. Our server was awesome though. The restaurant itself had a pretty average atmosphere with kind, polite people. When we stopped in Burlington on our way to Denver but got stuck in a blizzard, we really had no idea we'd find such a gem in this small town. While in town, we were told this is pretty much the only place in town to eat. You can tell it's definitely the place the locals go. I ordered the butternut squash enchiladas stuffed with ricotta cheese, a zesty pool of salsa morita, and served with a sweet corn tamale & fresh pico. These were absolutely delicious, but such a big portion, there was no way I could finish it. Mom ordered the Toro burger- artisan cheese, guac, pico, crispy fried onion- and a side of sweet corn tamale. She loved the side dish more than the burger though. She ordered it medium, and it came out almost rare. She's never one to return anything to the kitchen. On warmer days, you can enjoy the fire pit outside. Really yummy lunch in Berlington. Not a typical truck stop. The food was very tasty and high quality. My wife added mushrooms to her patty melt, I got the meatball sandwich. Both were GIGANTIC and had great flavor. One important note, the meatballs has mediterranean raisins and pine nuts in them. Unusual but added great flavor. I DIDNT SEE A NUT WARNING IN THE MENU FOR THE MEATBALLS so if you have a nut allergy, be aware. The side corn tamale side was soo good, also not "traditional" but tasted slightly sweet but savory too. My wife really liked her burger and fries. A place like this would thrive in Denver area. My waiter, James, shared that he grew the lettuce via aquaponics where trout fertilize the water. The salad was delicious. It's been a week since I had dinner here with a friend and I still can't believe a place like this exists in Burlington. I live in Colorado Springs and I haven't found a place a good as the Dish Room here. Luckily for me I have friends in Burlington and now I have an excuse to make the 3 hour drive east - it's worth it. I had the ribeye that melted in my mouth - just fantastic. The beer selections were fantastic and the brussell sprouts were out of this world. Don't judge a book by it's cover and don't just a restaurant by it's location (nothing against Burlington - I love Burlington but I think you know what I mean). Can't wait to come back. read more

We were traveling on 70 looking for a place to eat and I came across the Dish Room. We are so glad to have stopped here. The large dining area was creatively decorated. The menu had some unusual dishes along with typical menu items. We just wanted a quick lunch and we weren't disappointed. Our Caesar salad with homemade dressing and croutons was great without the typical romaine lettuce. The cluck Norris chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly and had a great chipotle mayo sauce. I'm glad we tried the corn tamale which was like a sweet corn spoon bread and almost like a dessert to us. I plan to stop here again in our way home from Utah. read more

For a main I had the beet salad with grilled chicken with a strawberry vinaigrette dressing, this is definitely a must have it will hit all your taste buds in the right spot!
