I came here on my vacation in Hawaii from San Diego (but originally from the Bay Area) and I felt like this nightclub was just alright.. I'm definitely used to way more ratchet hip hop and trap. I came here on a Saturday night on the weekend before labor day and I was a bit disappointed by the music. Maybe it was early still (11:30pm) but they were playing a lot of super chill popular hip hop songs (some Drake and what not) and chill classics. It made me feel a little sober so my boyfriend and I each got a drink and they were surprisingly pretty strong. I think later on in the night at 12:30 they finally dropped some ratchet stuff Hmm overall it was alright. It didn't look like the dress code was suuper strict? I visisted Hawaii recently and decided to check out District since it was recommended by a few people and it did not dissapoint! Great music and atmosphere! One of the only clubs I'll go to and a place I highly recommend when ppl ask what's lit on a Saturday night! The bartenders are nice & fast, the music and the drinks are fire and they close at 4am. Plus they play music you can actually dance to! Mostly hip hop and r&b throughout the night and towards the end they play EDM! You also can walk into The Parlor that's connected inside and get some surprisingly good bar food & then head back into District for more fun . read more

It's always hard to gauge how good nightlife is from yelp since reviews are skewed more towards people who have a terrible time. As a result, I was happily surprised that District exceeded my expectations! Nothing crazy special about this place, but it plays good music, is a decent size, gets packed around midnight and has a lot of fans so it's not too hot! I deducted a star for things listed in "the bad" section below. The good: 1. There were a lot of fans surrounding the dance floor so it was a reasonable temperature and not burning up like some clubs even with the dance floor full. 2. It's connected to a bar that has seating and a happy hour special until 11:30 pm. The club doesn't have seating unless you get a vip table. 3. Smoke machines and lasers added a cool effect! 4. There's a hot dog food stand right outside! I didn't get one, but another night it would really hit the spot. The bad: 1. I think the layout could be improved if the dance floor were bigger since there's these large open areas between the bars, the dance floor and the vip tables. 2. As noted by other yelpers, the DJ never played a full song and kept changing songs half way through. It didn't bother me too much since all the songs were bangers, but it really annoyed my boyfriend. Dress code: It seems they actually enforce the no shorts rule for guys since all the guys I saw inside wore pants. A lot of women were either in dresses or cute crop top and short/skirt outfits. I did see some women in flip flops and more casual clothes despite their "business casual" dress code on their website. Basically, women can wear whatever and guys just need to wear pants and whatever shirt. Here's how our night went down: We got to the club around 10:50 pm on a Saturday since the guest list (free entry) closes at 11pm. There was only one group in front of us so we got in within a minute or two. No issues with the bouncers or woman checking our IDs. As expected the club was pretty empty since it was early (maybe 20 people?), so we went into the connected bar. I only realized later that it was a separate bar and not technically part of the club, but that makes sense since there's a guy checking for the club's stamp to get back into the main club area. The bar has both booths and high tables and a TV. Happy hour goes until 11:30 pm, but we had pregamed enough that we didn't get anything. We went back into the club around 11:30 pm and it had filled up quite a bit (70ish people) with a couple people on the dance floor. We stayed on the dance floor for about an hour and by the end of that time it went from almost empty to very packed. We ended up leaving around 12:30 am since it was the last day of our vacation and we were wiped. The club was definitely lit by the time we left and I wish I had enough energy to stay for a couple more hours! Overall, I had a good time, definitely would go back next time I'm in Honolulu and recommend it to friends! I'm not sure how good the drinks were since we didn't get any, but the fact the dance floor wasn't 1,000 degrees was the main highlight! That fact alone made it better than a lot of clubs! read more

As fun as this place can be it is also way too crowded and parking can be a challenge. It's sometimes difficult to get a drink and the line for the bathroom can be insane. The bartenders are friendly though and if you can afford it I recommend getting bottle service. read more

Terrible Club. Got a vip table and wasn't told it would be in the back. Asked for a refund and was denied because "they opened the bottle"... I replied with I'll pay with the bottle that's fine just not the booth it was in a back room behind main dance floor/ club can't see it or hear it or see anyone, I MEAN COMPLETELY EMPTTY. They showed a paper my boyfriend signed and they said what he signed was obligation to pay but when he signed they told him that it was just they no outside alcohol and continued to say no cause the booth came with the bottle but it was 2 separate charges $180 for the bottle and $150 for the booth so how was it together when it was 2 charges.... And was no Dj in the back where the booth was. My boyfriend came back from the bathroom and said multiple times he would not want the booth, we got walked to the booth seen it and walked out. Didn't sit there for an hour was probably like 3 min Didn't accommodate or refund. So they can't refund me the booth because the bottle open? That makes no sense because when they brought the bottle it was closed... they opened it in-front of us. Lol no dancing music only rap that you can't dance too. Bathrooms gross probably haven't been cleaned for a year. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLUB!!! Go to the bars instead lol I dreaded the whole thing. read more

Went here for my first nightlife experience in Honolulu. It was a lot of fun! The line was super long and there is a $20 cover fee. However, if you check in with yelp they offered free admission. The music was good and the vibe was nice. All the songs played were perfect and there wasn't​ a moment I was left awkwardly​ standing because I didn't​​ like the music. Some male guests can be a little handsy, but nothing too aggressive. The crowd was lively and not too many wall huggers. The girls were also super friendly which is always fun because who doesn't​ like making new friends while traveling? The bathrooms are suppeerr clean which is amazing for a night club lol. We went to District Nightclub for their New Years Eve event. We decided to get the VIP tickets and glad we did! There was a separate bar with no line and snacks and food. The music was fun and tons of people. Also had a countdown to midnight, of course! Since it was NYE there was dress code which was fine for us, but we did see other people have to wear sweatpants over their shorts, I guess shorts aren't allowed! The District Nightclub I went here on two different occasions, my experiences were very similar. AMBIANCE: Parking: This place does get packed so be sure to carpool. We did park at the mall but wouldn't encourage it as you can get towed but do try street parking. Feels: A very popping place. It's dark but the flashing lights makes things not too dark. Generally it's been 90-now hip-hop. It wouldn't really be a place to flaunt your skills as it does get crowded but still good fun, I didn't encounter any fights or anything so that's cool. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The bartender was attentive and the bouncers were cool. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. It's pretty good place for good music and to get down however it does get very crowded. It does simmer during the last hour but then the floor gets super sticky. Though I cannot compare to other places, this is a solid on to check out. My boyfriend and I were excited to get here. Upon arrival we went through the only open entrance and we were told to "read the signs". The general entrance was closed which was why we did not go through it originally. They told us the copay was 20$ cash only which i paid. The bouncer told my boyfriend there is no hats allowed. He said okay and bowed his head for the bouncer to remove it due to his prior rudeness towards him. Bouncer then said "take it off," my boyfriend took it off and they held it for him. We waited there for an hour and saw three people there the entire time. We are from NY and were shocked by the rudeness of staff which says a lot. Very unfortunate. In all honesty if I could give this place 0 stars I would. Granted, this is a nightclub and there aren't many expectations to have. I don't expect exceptional customer service or a spectacular venue. It's an open space, likely with a bar, DJ and a dance floor. And if it's really fancy, some extra seating for non-VIP patrons to rest your aching feet from your 4 inch heels. However, at a bare minimum I would expect a basic level of respect for patrons. This night club has a lounge connected to it, where you can hang with friends in a more quiet atmosphere that the club portion. The bartenders claim there is a $20 tab in the club area and a $30 tab in the lounge. A guy in my party order drinks in the club since we were in there for Salsamor. We got hungry and wanted to grab pizza in the lounge. He ordered a water but left his card at the bar in the club. When he got to the lounge, the bartender wanted to start a tab in there as well. When we were ready to leave, he told the guy he needed to order 2 drinks to make the $30 tab. So he ended up paying $50 just to get his card back. Now, I'm not sure if he was made aware of the amount of the tabs before or after he went to close out, but that's ridiculous. It's the same place. I ordered a pizza. There's a happy hour special until 11:30 for $3 off the pizza. The cashier charged me full price for the pizza even though I ordered before 11:30. Simple mistake. However when I went back to ask for my money (I already ate the pizza and the crews had changed) the bartender kind of gave me a hard time about getting my $3 back. He was snickering with the cook back and forth. Finally after asking politely 3 times for my money back, the cook reluctantly gave me my money back and said some more things under his breath. Seriously, the pizza wasn't even that good (The crust was burned in most areas) and if you're going to have a happy hour deal then honor it. Oh, and the bartender tried to tell me the deal was only $1 off not $3, the sign above the bar clearly says $3 off until the 11:30 I was just so over being here. The bartender in the club killed my night. Not sure if he was having a bad day, but he's literally the reason I will never go back here or recommend anyone go there. There's lots of other nightclubs to go to that have a more pleasant atmosphere. Also, when the guy in my group when to close his tab out, the bartender in the lounge ignored him for like 10 minutes. Mind you, there was barely anyone in there. The guy was standing right in front of the bartender and he continued to converse with someone at the end of the bar, ignoring him. LOCATION: District is conveniently located near many other clubs/bars; great for a stop if club/bar hopping (I guess). Beneath the Republik Venue. It is the old Bar 7. PARKING: Not too sure where exactly you're allowed to park (I assume you can park across the way at Ala Moana except the mall is closed so you could be towed ?) They have valet parking for extra $10, I believe. The cover charge is ridiculous, $15. I paid 10$ last time I came but this Saturday Night (6/16/18) was $15. I'm used to clubs being $10; Charing any more than that for that kind of space is BS to me. Only time I've ever paid for something more than that was when the club had a special host or some shit. The club at least features 3 separate bars, A sectioned off dance floor and seating areas for dummies who pay more to be some kind of exclusive member. There is a "private" or another sectioned off seating space in or that's a part of the DJ Booth which also faces the dance floor. Restrooms for men and women. As I've stated before (in another review), I AM NOT A FAN of places that allow you to bring drinks into the dance floor. People are too incompetent and incapable of HANDLING their liquids. A woman for some reason dropped her glass bottle right by her side which was near a friend and didnt bother with it. She literally stepped to the side and kept grinding on her partner. I sought out to find a bouncer or worker and it was rather hard for me to distinguish who was who because they (the security) did not stand out. I ended up going to a bartender who had a stank attitude she told another guy and I could tell she was not having it so I walked over to him and told him I'd show him where it was. The fog/smoke machines seems like a nice touch but no. The one the left of the DJ Booth (when you're facing the DJ) is leaking, which is "aw hell no," for me. Their drink for their cranberry and vodka was a lot smaller than Mai Tai's. They use plastic cups for their drinks which is cool or whatever but why the glass bottles on the dance floor, man??? Smh I rated it the way I did because the DJ was whack, playing slow lovey dovey songs towards the ending of the night. Come with a open mind, enjoy yourself and make some new friends. Downsides- bathroom line is long but that's common for any nightclub.
