Of course my travels across town, actually 2 counties for YOCHH, I would miss the $1 beer for Yelpers only. I then find out that I also missed the $3 special as well. I don't really care for the food when we were here the first time when I ordered a chicken taco, fish taco, beef taco along with tater tots. Yes, get your own tots, dammit!! I did not care to order any food this time around. Tonight, I did not want to order any food from here. Lots of pretty people here tonight, Yelpers included who were still there when I arrived. Closing in on 10PM, that's when the resident DJ steps in for the musical entertainment. I like the black and white movies more. Still trying to gauge the crowd in this place, I'm always happy to be able to order a beer of my choice. Last time we were here, I forgot to close my tab. I didn't realize it until the next day so when I called, they said they had it. They closed out my tab and did not add any gratuity to the bill. As anyone can tell from my other reviews, I'm a harsh critic. No punches pulled, and no mercy for lousy service. Well I am happy to report that this review will not be a scathing indictment of the District, but rather a hearty recommendation. I've been frequenting the place at various times since August, and am quite happy with it. First, the thing that everyone goes there for: the booze. The prices are not terribly competitive outside of happy hour, but they're still cheaper than Haven, so that's a plus. The highlight in the bar service staff is, by FAR, Svetlana. She always has a cheerful disposition, and appears to have rather large group of regulars that come in simply because she is there. I see why! She is engaging in conversation, and is extraordinarily accommodating. She has the ability to come up with fun and novel drinks on a whim, which is impressive because most bartenders that I encounter these days (and they are numerous) either have no creativity, or no desire to explore new, fun drinks with their guests. Svetlana, on the other hand, is both enthusiastic about it, and damn talented at it if I may say so. Her service skills are impeccable. I recommend a visit when she is there. Second, the food! Oh man! Carlos cooks the pants off of the food there! The tater tots are always cooked to perfection, and the order size is ample! Build Your Own Burger is the best value in the Circle on Monday, and Taco Tuesday there is the best in all of OC in my opinion. He makes 5 different types of meat, and it's all you can eat for $5 (with the purchase of a cocktail.) College night turns the place into kind of a club, and it is typically filled with nice people, and very few issues with jerks. As a caveat: I will say that they do not have some music types (Mariachi) blocked on the juke box, although they definitely should. A class of 30 law students all dropping at least $50 doesn't want to sit through Pepe Hernandez. Come on management. Treat your best customers well, and know your surroundings. You're next to Chapman. Cater to us, and it will pay off. read more

Came here on a Saturday night at 9:30 pm. Got some drinks with me buddies before dancing began. Ordered some Long Island iced teas that were strong but came in smaller classes. The place started to get full around 10:30 pm and the dance floor didn't get busy until 11:00 pm. My main reason for such a low score was the DJ on Saturday Jan 26. He started off with only songs from the early 90s. He started playing music that was more modern and people started dancing. He wasn't consistent in his music genres. This made people leave the dance floor frequently. Overall, without the DJ complaint, this place is just an average bar with a dance floor. Probably the most poppin place in Orange on any given night. My suggestion to management is get a DJ that knows what he's doing. read more

Three words: Taco. Tuesday. Special. Let's get the bad out of the way first, though. If it weren't for their specials and happy hour deals, District Lounge would have been 1 star for sure. It was all good when we were just ordering beers (not on tap, mind you), but don't bother ordering mixed drinks. Maybe the bartender was new, maybe it was a fluke, but they completely messed up a whiskey sour order. There was barely any whiskey in there! Second, they will charge your card $25 + your bill as a security measure for them, but they won't tell you. Damn, throwing shade all over the place! Even though you plan to refund it within 2 days, tell your customers beforehand so they're not surprised by the charge the next day. Lastly, the bartenders are not very friendly/constantly absent. On to what I did enjoy about this place. The AYCE tacos are $5 with the purchase of a drink (and with their HH specials, a beer is $3). If you're not drinking, the tacos are $8...I'm no math major, but I have a feeling that getting the drink would give you the better deal. I've been to other $5 AYCE Taco Tuesdays before, but usually you only have chicken and beef to choose from. Here, you could choose between carne asada, carnitas, pollo, al pastor and grilled fish! Plus you get all the fixings on the side. The tacos were pretty good, especially considering the price. I managed to eat 8 tacos before succumbing to a food coma. The District Lounge is our go to spot to watch UFC fights now! I've been here two times so far and after each visit I leave full of great drinks. As for food, it can't get any better than this. Other bars have food but it leaves me feeling disappointed and still hungry. The decor is fun with their light displays and ceiling fixtures filled with bras! Our waitress Sam has provided such great service always checking in with us to make sure we are still having a great time. Really fun dive bar housed redbrick walls, and comfy leather seats. Did I mention they've got a hot female bartender too? The main area is roomy with booths pressed up against the walls. It's a lot of room to mingle and bump into random new people. Further down is a pool table for those who choose to socialize with 8ball fanatics. Food is a little pricey, but goes great with your choice of alcoholic bev. Crowd in general is mixed, and definitely there to have a great time. The district is a win in my nightlife book. And if for whatever reason, it isn't crackin that night, there's tons of spots in the surrounding area that might offer an even more belligerently fun night. read more

Dude, what's been going on with the music? I'm tired of the 80's garden-variety filler music. It's Friday night at 12:30 PM and the DJ is playing Tina Turner? Come on, look at your demographics. We want Top 40, pop, hip-hop, and EDM! I actually had a chance to chat with the DJ about this issue. He said that The District requires him to play this music for a certain portion of the night. Might want to reconsider this decision? I don't see myself returning too often if this trend continues. I'll probably start frequenting Proof Bar and The Crosby (Santa Ana) more often. read more

I was leaning towards A-OK but moved it up to 4-star Yay! I'm a fan. I've been here once for a friend's birthday and then a few other times for karaoke. The night I went for a birthday celebration it was super packed. There aren't many sitting areas and loungey dark... I guess for the lounge type feel I was expecting a place to lounge for a little bit while waiting for the music to get going. So for that night, it'll be 3-stars. I've recently been coming for Wednesday night karaoke. The set up is different in that the stage is way in the corner and the seating is way over on the other half of the bar. So back of the restaurant/lounge has the pool tables, karaoke stage and restrooms and the seating is just before the threshold of that area. Bobby Vegas Entertainment does the karaoke and they're great! The song selection is boss, sound and props are fun and engaging! Karaoke would be just so much better if there were little cocktail tables for sitting closer to the stage, you know? It's so far! I've seen karaoke-patrons actually sitting on a side table near the restroom just be near the stage. Hubs and I sat at the tables but as more karaoke singers came in we noticed that not too many were interested sitting that far back. I don't blame them. The first time we came here for karaoke we stood at the cocktail table nearest the stage. I definitely like this place even more because of the karaoke. We were visiting my partner's younger brother who is a college student, to take him to lunch. This bouncer at this bar confiscated my partner's ID, told him he knew 100% that it was fake, even though it wasn't. We are clearly in our 30's. My partner has very visibly graying hair! He told us the manager was on his way to come look at the ID. I had to go outside and call the bar to find out the manager wasn't even coming in that day. We had to call the police and waste their time to come get his ID back. When the police arrived, they looked at us, and said "yeah you don't look under 21 at all." The bouncer was clearly either power tripping, or racially profiling my partner? I'm not sure, but he could have just turned us away when we entered the bar, and I honestly wouldn't care. Confiscating the ID of someone who is obviously over 21, sober, not ordering drinks, especially a person of color, seems very personal. Also, this bar is breaking health code. Neither of their bathrooms had soap, and when I asked someone to refill the soap, the server said, "we just don't have any soap here at all. we ran out." This is the middle of a sunday, which means they are possibly running their business all day without anyone washing their hands. So, your servers and kitchen workers are going to the bathroom, not washing their hands and touching customers' food?? Will be reporting them to health department. read more

Came here with a group of friends for their Taco Tuesday deal ($5 for ayce tacos) not realizing that it was actually a bar. (oops) So you get a drink and you pay $5 for ayce tacos with choices of chicken, asada, pastor, fish and carnitas. You can pay $1 extra for shrimp too. I thought it was pretty cool that you can put your own toppings on your tacos (don't be fooled by those gross pictures they have up on yelp!) Overall- food quality is meh. (But what were you expecting for $5?) The place is dingy and kind of dirty (it is a bar after all!). They had drink specials too- $5 margaritas, $4 shots of tequila and $4 beers or something close to that anyways. Limited seating - though we were able to snag a table! And some girls were walking around giving sample shots of milagro. The crowd was a little older (probably in their 30's) with a handful of people that looked like they might be in their 20's. Not sure that I'd go here to drink though I wouldn't mind coming again (with a group of friends) for tacos and drinks some other tuesday! read more

I went here with my friend to try their little taco and brew promotion. It's $5 for all you can eat tacos and $3 beer. But honestly... the tacos are really not that enticing to make you want to eat more than 5 to get your money's worth. They're so dry... I definitely can make better ones. I eat at a lot of taquerias so I know what quality is! I feel like people who give their tacos 5 stars don't have good taste buds. Bartenders are super nice though and attentive. Don't try the veal Had a good time here. Came on a Thursday night and crowds were off and on all evening. Bartenders are mostly cute girls (which makes any place better), drinks are good, service was quick, and the Ducks game was on to my right and the NFL network was on to my left... I really had nothing to complain about! It's hard to classify the ol' DL in the OTO- not really a dive by bar but not some super high end place. Kind of like "we're unqiue and swanky with our red walls, but we will let it be run down because we don't want to try too hard" type of vibe- either way, it's fun. The crowd is mostly younger and it can get crazy packed on the weekends. District Lounge is located in one of my favorite locations, Old Town Orange, and has some of the best food places around, including my good buddy Beach Pitt BBQ. Some good BBQ and then drinks at District Lounge make for a fun time. read more

I wanted to like it, I really did. It was actually my 3rd choice for dinner, but there was a 45 minute wait at Haven and an even longer wait at the Gabbi's. So I took my friend here for a Build your own Burger. In concept, it is fine, choices of meat, bread, toppings and condiments. I had the Burger on a chibtta with grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato, with fries. And a beer. At least the beer was good. The patties was really thin. They ask how you want it cooked, but with a thin patty like this, all you get is medium well. The bun was decent, but not very large, and they toasted it on the cut side, but they charred it. It wasn't crowded, so it must have been through inattention. The taste was OK, better than some fast food, but not on par with the very good burgers offered around OC. The fries were, for some reason, luke warm. If you don't use heat lamps, then don't let things sit. They would have been good if they were hot, but they were not. This was a very cool bar. It was my first time here and it definitely gets my attention to want to come back more and more. Especially for those good $6 all you can eat tacos on Tuesday. I've come to the district for a couple years now every thursday and it's been fun, but now it honestly just sucks on thursday's so much because the line is unbelievably long to the point where it takes an hour to get in. But it's not a single file line, it's a clump at the beginning full of all the people who keep cutting while everyone else just sits in the back for an hour waiting. Certain "special" people are let in and get to cut the entire line. The whole system is so messed up and bad and it needs to be fixed. read more

I am not from Orange County so I don't know what a typical OC lounge looks like but this place is much more casual than a typical Lounge in Los Angeles. I would consider it more like a bar.... The crowd is mixed, some old, some young and a little bit in between. We were encountered by a guys on our way in offering to frisk us but he didn't work there so yeah...... The drinks were weak but I guess thats what $4 gets you. The music was a weird mix of Art Laboe and Britney Spears. Dancing was mostly girl on girl but the night was young... Service was good.
