NOTE: I only give 3-stars because of the area and concerns of homeless looking through cars on the parking lot. I strongly suggest don't leave ANYTHING within view in your car... even a jacket! With that said, I have confronted (once) a woman looking in my car right after I parked and went in. NOTE: You should always walk back out after 30 secs to 1-min and watch your car and then poke your head out periodically to check on it. Don't park in a cluster of cars. Park in an open area and under a light so there can be no excuses for them checking out your car and door handles. I'm not paranoid, RING and crime reports for the area is not good. With that said, this place is a gem in a mine field. The folks running the place bartenders etc are the cats meow and the participating customers welcome one and all! It is one of my favorite places to visit. I believe they even updated their kitchen but I can't make claim to the food bcuz I haven't eaten there since it's been updated. At first glance, this place looks like a hole in the wall dive bar. When you get in, you see it is a pretty nice looking bar. You get greeted with friendly service from the staff and the drink prices are great. Oh, and they also have food which is delicious! Definitely not the first thing that you go to a bar for but it's great that you have options. There are two sides to the bar. One is well lit and has a couple of pool tables. The other side is darker and that's where they have karaoke nights multiple times a week. The ambiance is great and you can socialize with just about anyone in there. The bartenders are great. Jace is very friendly but straight up, no nonsense. Shiv is also very friendly and kind...also no nonsense. All the staff there will take care of you and make sure you have a great experience. I've been back a couple of times. It has been hit and miss since first stepping in. The crowd, very chill and friendly. The bartenders, well that is a different story. They are amazing with regulars and a bit indifferent with not-so regular's. Rio Vista is the best karaoke bar in OC! Great vibes and the regulars are fun to chat with and very welcoming so don't worry about coming in alone! Johnny the bartender is always on point and was able to help me find stuff to eat even with a gluten allergy (I've never gotten glutened here!) which is amazing because the food is killer. I've seen Wes the KJ the most and he's fun, friendly and amazing at his job. He's able to grab songs for you that he doesn't already have on the spot a lot of the time! Food is made fresh to order, so like a restaurant you have to wait for your food, so have a drink if there's any orders before you. However, the street tacos are decent sized, filled up, and the meats and sauces are good. We ate the carnitas, carne asada, and chicken and all were yummy! Get the sauces on the side for take out, and for a $1 extra, get the spicy cilantro sauce. The restaurant is open at 2 PM, enter the bar facing Lincoln Blvd., the second bar faces Rio Vista and doesn't open until 9 PM, they are joined together. Been here a few times, as it was the go to chill bar back in the days. Place always has crazy stories to tell when you come here and thats what makes it epic. Recently came after a a year or so but they still have the same staff, cook, and prices. Venue - Place was kinda ran down, but just recently got a remodel done and it's looking much nicer and brighter. They also have a karaoke section thats pretty cool. Service - Can be a lil slow on busy nights but overall great service. Food - The cook here is amazing he can put some delicious plates together, doesn't matter what it is he makes everything great. Drinks - Great pours and good drink selection. Prices - Great prices that don't hurt the wallet compared to overpriced fancy joints. Parking - Lots of parking available on street or in the complex parking lot. The Rio is Anaheim and North Orange County at its core. This is the dive bar you go to where you can sing all your teenage angst out, drunkenly make out with the wrong person, chat with a local veteran or hide away from the world and watch it all. It's where the dudes go after a breakup to sing those KROQ songs from the 90's like Lightning Crashes by Live, Glycerin by Bush, I Miss You and/or Adam's Song by Blink 182, all the Sublime songs, Closing Time by Supersonic, etc. This place was built in 1928 (Jace said something like that) so the bathrooms are built for tiny people that had no personal space (I've been to two other places that have the same set-up). The drinks are strong and my favorite part was Jace the bartender. I think he's smart, attentive, witty and funny. Even though he was busy, he was still able to make small talk in between drinks and was constantly hustling. One guy came in by himself and then he went up to the stage and sang Under the Sea from the Little Mermaid movie and a couple got up and slow danced to it like it was their wedding song. It was weird but definitely entertaining. I didn't get to try the food as I ate before I got here, but next time I'll try the nachos for sure. read more

So my guy and I have been coming here a few years now. It's a dive bar with amazing food, great KJ's and incredible bartenders! And can't forget the two pool tables! Anything on the menu is great. One of our favs are the nacho fries with carnitas, tacos and philly cheese steak! Great flavors! Gave it a 4 Star cause one pool table is always "reserved" and there used to be free pool on certain days but that has changed. And it does need more chairs in the big bar where they have Karaoke. Great service. Bartender was a sweetheart and very attentive. The reason it isn't 5stars is because of the crowd. Rejected fraternity guys that are obnoxiously loud ruined our first time there. But the beer is cheap. The service is well rounded so it's really unfortunate that the three guys that were there ruined it. I've been here a few times now for karaoke late on a Friday night. The food here is surprisingly good. I've never tried it since I'm a vegetarian, but my friends rave about the ceviche. Like, really? Ceviche at a dive bar? The salsa is spicy (in a good way) and the guacamole has big chunks of avocado. It was a bit sour last time, but possibly just too much lime juice? Hopefully it's just homemade and a new chef was making it. It's kind of a strange location. There are two doors. One kind of makes you walk down a dark alley where you feel like you're entering a horror movie as the supporting actress and things are about to get real. Once inside, there is one bartender trying to help... everyone. She is really trying but I feel like there should be more people around to help her. Things are often broken behind the bar. One keg of beer wasn't cold, so when we ordered a pitcher of beer it was cool at best. The soda was flat so I just got a vodka & water instead of a vodka/soda. She offered to make it over again, but I just felt bad because there was a line at the bar. Like I say, she's doing her best. Problem is, drinks cost a little more than they "should" at a bar like this. Food is cheap, so it evens out somewhat if you're ordering munchies. Karaoke is solid. They have some fun hosts (KJ's). The guy is hilarious! They start at the singing at 9pm, so put a song in right away so you're early in the rotation to save your spot. Otherwise, you're unlikely to get more than a song or two in on busy nights! read more

We walked in, went to the bar area about to order a drinks before we could say anything the bartender (guy with tied up long hair w/ beard) said to us "sorry we don't service michelada" we all looked at each other's and thought to ourselves "wow that came off raciest! And that wasn't even what we wanted to order" But we brushed it off and went about our night. There was a jukebox I paid for music, paid for drinks and couple games of pool. Bar closed at 2pm. Granted we waited the whole time for our music that we paid for to play, as soon as our music played, at this point it was only 1am. The bartender cut off our music and play their song "you don't have to go home but you need to get the fu#k out". I've never felt so unwelcome at business establishments. Will never return there again. But that's probably what they wanted anyway! But Best believe I will warn everyone about my experience! read more
