We came for a late breakfast on a weekday morning. This cool diner is located at the Orange Metrolink station, across from the Hilbert Museum. Both exterior and interior look like a 1930s train station. We sat in a booth and enjoyed great food and quintessential service. I ordered the Irish French Toast. This was in the top tier of French Toasts I've ever had. The thick, battered Texas Toast had a delicate interior with a bit of powdered sugar on top. The two large pieces were surrounded by banana slices. The syrup was a house-made Jameson Irish Whiskey Sauce. Incredible. I was in breakfast nirvana from the first bite. This dish came with a side of eggs and choice of meat (I went with scrambled eggs and bacon), both of which were excellent tho nothing fancy. I also swiped a beignet from my dining companion's plate. This fat pastry was the best beignet I've ever had, so pillowy soft! Come here for a great meal surrounded by a cool, train-themed atmosphere. read more

The outside is pretty but inside is prettier. It did have a distinct smell, wasn't all that pleasant but other than that, everything else was amazing. Our server was Joe. He made us feel welcomed as it was our first time coming here. By we I mean my self and three friends as well. He took our orders mentally. That was impressive! And got every order correct. He knew his menu items. I ordered a hot coffee (refills available) and the garden omelette. Instead of their bakery it's chi ie of beignets or a muffin, I opted for sourdough toast. Delicious! First time trying this place today. My son recently moved to Orange, and I went to have lunch with him. Found Streamliner on Yelp and headed over. What a cute place, and the staff was very friendly. We ordered the Caprese Burger, Cranberry Turkey Sandwich, and ice tea. Sandwiches were so tasty due to the breads being perfect, and the meat being fresh. Who would have thought a cafe at the Metrolink station would be this good! I've heard about and passed by several times and finally decided to check it out on my own and glad I did. There was plenty of free parking, which is a nice bonus since it isn't the easiest around the Orange Circle. The cafe has a fun, small town lounge train vibe and enjoyed watching trains come & go while I ate. Ordered the Cranberry Turkey Sandwich which had thick slices of real turkey not the processed kind. The bread was soft, the cranberry sauce delicious and the skinny fries came out hot & crisp. The sandwich was big I only ate half and took the rest home but I finished every last fry! I love this place. It's the closest you'll get to stepping back in time. A group of us went in for breakfast and sat in a room that had a moving train above us with cut outs of various train stations and the decor was was old school as well. The menu was diversified and prices were very reasonable. One valiant server, Nery, took care care of all us and did a great job. They also have a nice bar and many TVs for viewing sports. Streamliner lounge is a must try in Orange County. It is such a cute spot with fun decor and the train station right behind so you can see it when it stops from the inside. We came on a Thursday evening and there were seats available right away. The service was excellent and the food was also delicious. The sliders were a hit, and the tater tots were too. The appetizers were on a deal for happy hour, so we took advantage. I will definitely be coming back now that I know about this place as their menu has great options. This is a cool Art Deco diner inside the Orange train station. The vibe is cool old school and the menu is American classics. Breakfast is omelets, pancakes, oatmeal with plenty of toppings, and eggs Benedict options. Lunch is burgers and sandwiches -- again, American traditional offerings. I really enjoyed the pesto chicken sandwich. And those sweet potato fries are tasty. There's an outdoor patio (which I haven't used) and half the space is a bar -- where you can order food, too. Brewed iced tea. Service is good and the kitchen is fast. We came here craving milkshakes and fries and wanted to enjoy the train passing by and figured it would be a nice date spot that we hadn't tried yet. Came in and the barkeep was really sweet waved us over to some tables and brought some menus over right away. We ordered a root beer float and a strawberry milkshake and some fries. It came out to $23 and some change. The entire place felt a little bit larger than it should be for how many guests were there at the time. It felt really empty but we wanted to give it a chance. Our drinks came out and we were very excited, but as we kept consuming them, we noticed this odd aftertaste from the ice cream and the milk that was used. We unfortunately could not finish our drinks because they tasted so off and I'm slightly worried as I'm writing this to get sick later. The french fries were basic, but ultimately glad they were there to get the taste out of our mouth from the milkshakes, left our mouths tasting very coppery it was so odd. The bartender did mention that they had the machine turned off and that it was going to take some time for the ice cream to harden. It did feel somewhat powdery like it was rehydrated somehow. About a dozen of us came for brunch on a Saturday after visiting the Hilbert Museum across the street. I was pleased to see "Fluffy Hot Beignets" listed as a side choice for the Garden Omelette that I requested with egg whites. Such a treat to enjoy beignets with syrup, the omelette and the House Potatoes. Strawberry Lemonade was my beverage. My tablemates ordered burgers and the Seafood Combo. Those looked good. They do live music on Saturdays at 7:30 so plan accordingly. The band was very good and I would absolutely go another Saturday to enjoy the band but we didn't know about it and came to celebrate a family birthday so once the music started the conversation stopped (just something to keep in mind when planning). The food was good, all very typical American diner fare. The location is great- we got to watch a bunch of trains go by which was great for the kids. One of the rooms has a little train that runs along the ceiling which was very cute. The service was okay - our waitress was great and very nice but stretched very thin. It was just her and one other girl and there was a private party in a back room so our waitress had to handle all the tables in the dining area herself. Let me preface this with saying, I know that with big parties - there can be chaos.. but lets not automatically assume that chaos before it even starts! My family went the Steamliner Lounge to celebrate my brothers 18th bday this past weekend. We lost our dad a few years ago, and he was having a hard time turning 18 without our dad around. While the majority of us got there on time, there was a chunk that did not arrive until 30+ min later (i know, we were frustrated with them too.. we were HUNGRY!) The waiter (yes, just 1 waiter for 20+ people) didnt even take our drink orders until the last of our party showed up. Mind you, we have small children who - by the grace of god - were actually on their best behavior despite having to wait that long. The waiter didnt want to take ANYONES order until everyone was there. Not even the littles, because he didnt want to get confused (how about you ask for some help???). Uh, what? On top of that, it took 45 min to get our coffees and sodas. When the waiter asked how we were splitting checks, we explained it very clearly, and he acted like we were speaking chinese. I recognized it.. he was playing this facade to make us feel bad. Who in the world has enough money to pay for 20+ people on one check? Not us! And if we did, we wouldnt be eating there! I never got creamer with my freshly served cold coffee (since it took so long) and it tasted very old. Like sediment old. Several of us had to go ask other workers for water pitchers, glasses, napkins and hot sauce because our waiter would only bless us with his presence every 30 min in the very dead restaurant. He didnt mind stoping and speaking in spanish to his co worker though - assuming we couldnt understand! Very thoughtful! We never got kids menus and were shocked that we were going to have to pay $18 - $20 per small child, and $5 extra if they split a plate. Someone in our party found a kids menu in another part of the restaurant on their scavenger hunt - phew! Finally, almost 2 hours later comes our food. Ridiculous. Bland, cold. What?! Then we had to find him to even pay our bill! I paid for my families, and all is fine. Im waiting for the option to write in a tip and he says "Oh sorry, they just told me this, but ill be adding the 18% gratuity to everyones check", then puts it on without waiting for me to say anything. That added $30 for my check that he did NOT deserve, and from the way he said it, it sounded like he was going to be making ALOT extra from my party. The whole experience completely drained us. I cant believe we had to deal with that. We were there for 3 hours, and disappointed the entire time. Im just glad we were with family. Will never be returning. Sheesh. read more

This will be a veggie burger review because I only came here one time. As always I got the takeout. I came late at night when it was almost closing. The veggie burger here I rank at an 8. Which is a pretty good ranking. It looks like a nice place just from waiting for them to get the order ready. They seem to have a nice bar which I would have liked when I was drinking more. The restaurant itself is built into the Orange Metrorail station, and the train station theme makes for a very cool and unique dining experience. However, the service needs some attention. Our waitress was very sweet, but several of our requests were forgotten. We ordered a shareable plate but weren't given individual plates until we asked, and at the end of the meal, we had to track someone down to pay. Even then, our check sat unattended for 10-15 minutes before anyone picked it up. I had planned a surprise 60th birthday party for my husband. My cousin got there early (45 min) and they had completely forgot about it. Turned out nice and food was good, but we had 1 server for 31 people. Drinks were rarely refilled and only when we asked. Our poor server was hustling. I was asked if I wanted table clothes in a previous meeting with the manager. We were told when we got there that would be extra (which I would have gladly paid). Miscommunication I suppose. Greg, the bartender has such a great disposition. He's a positive person who love oks to engage with his customers. He knows our drink and knows how to make them the way we like. Streamliner as a restaurant lounge is like an old school diner. Nothing fancy, but serves its purpose when it comes to strong drinks and something like wings or sliders to snack on. The food isn't spectacular, but it's a good value for what you get. Catch them during happy hour for even better value. Some of the appetizers are about $5 off the normal price. What to order? The Cobb salad was plentiful and hit the salty, crunchy and refreshing spots. The char-grilled ribeye isn't the best steak but for $20 bucks it's better than most diner's steaks. I have to say I was very disappointed in our service today. We were in at about 11:30 a.m. I come to Orange once a month and we frequent Streamliner. We ordered our hot tea with honey. Usually we get a plate with lemons and honey , this time we only got honey and no pot of extra hot water like usual. We ordered our food and the house potatoes came with my plate which I didn't see. I'm not a fan of the house potatoes but our server didn't even let me inquire about hash browns. I asked for hash browns and got them about 15 minutes later all the while the tall man with an accent was having mimosas with another younger girl prancing around in a dress that was way too short and they were all talking amongst one another not really being too attentive to the customers, and when the bill came they tried to charge us $6 for the hash browns when I didn't even get the opportunity to substitute them and when my mom asked how they were coming along dude just pointed to the kitchen. When we did voice our concern a nice lady did take the charge off. Our server was Brandon and he was very rude and not very attentive. Not like the older gentleman that we usually see. We probably will not be returning, which is sad because it used to be one of our favorite spots. Not to mention it was $60 for 2 people for breakfast!!! read more

Don't let my 3-star rating mislead you--Streamliner Lounge isn't bad. However, nothing really wowed me, and I wouldn't choose to come here on my own. My colleagues and I arrived around 6 PM on a Friday. There were about 20 of us, and we were seated within 10 minutes, which was impressive for a large group. We ordered all the appetizers, and I managed to try all but one. Although I didn't catch our server's name, she was sweet and clearly did her best to accommodate us, along with her other tables. Spicy Fried Cauliflower: 4/5 Probably my favorite of the bunch. Light, airy, and flavorful, with a surprising crispness that held up even after sitting out. Mini Street Tacos (pork): 2.5/5 Pretty dry. The flavor wasn't really there, but they were passable. Slider Duo: 2.5/5 These were your typical sliders--nothing to write home about. The fries, however, were pretty good and had a great crisp. Sriracha BBQ Wings: 4/5 Good flavor! They were almost too salty for me, but I still enjoyed them. Buffalo Wings: 4/5 A classic buffalo wing. They might not be the best you've ever had, but they'll satisfy your craving. Overall, if you're looking for a "traditional" American dining experience, Streamliner Lounge could be a good choice. My preference leans more towards ethnic foods, which might explain why I wasn't overly impressed. But if traditional American fare is your thing, you'll likely enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere, live music, and (decent) food. read more

First lets start with they will not serve you breakfast after 12 -when it does not say ANYWHERE that they stop at a certain time. The manager lady is rude. The smell inside is bad. And they raised their prices so much it is crazy. One meal is about $20 per person not including a drink. This used to be a decent place but it seems to be going downhill quickly. read more

Ambiance and nostalgia! This is a small scale Union Station. A little rough around the edges but essentially classy.

The food here was just ok. My dinner salad was all cheap iceberg lettuce with lots of sour core in it and my hamburger i asked for well done and it was very fare but still edible. The proprietors put on a private buffet dinner for my niece's graduation celebration. Al and his cooks and wait staff provided a beautiful buffet and set up extra tables outside for our large party. This is a beautiful old cafe with a western theme with a restaurant on one side and a cozy bar on the other side (you can also order food on the bar side.) The service was great, both friendly and prompt. the food was delicious. I had the Cobb burger which has a great mix of flavors. Another of our party had a patty melt, which he loved, and the third member of our party had the short rib sandwhich. I had a strawberry lemonade which was refreshing and the 2 guys had Red Beer. In addition to a great, hearty meal the old depot restaurant is charming with the diner counter and booths and on the other side a large bar and seating for a crowd, if you have one. I think it is a great place for a birthday party or any occasion especially for train lovers. read more

It's been several years since I dropped in at this site. It used to be Ruby's. I like this particular location for several reasons. 1-It's the train Depot and you see interesting people. 2-You get to see the train go by 3-There is a grassy area shaded by old trees There is no change in flooring or decorations. Its classic train depot: built to last. Booths on the circumference. Tables in the middle. It's clean and comfortable. The menu is basic. hamburgers, hotdogs, salads. Nothing spectacular. Booze is available as there is an adjoining bar. I ordered the Reuben sandwich with fries. And iced tea. They only have one type of iced tea, which is exactly what I wanted : unsweetened and unflavored. Perfect for a hot summer day. Served with a decent wedge of lemon and lots of ice. What knocked my socks off is the Reuben sandwich. The sauerkraut, the Russian dressing and the corn beef are all made on site. The meat was slow roasted until tender as can be. The sauerkraut was fresh as fresh can be. Still had shades of green. So good. As an FYI, I'm not so crazy about sauerkraut and usually scrape most of it off. Fantastic breakfast!! We are breakfast people and when you walk in and a smile greets you, we knew we roof to a great start. It was packed... seated quickly in a booth. We alway order the same thing- if they have it. Coffee- corned beef breakfast with poached eggs, SD toast, American breakfast, and pancakes. All was delicious!
