    Buffalo chicken salad
    MikeTammie L.

Loved it! Came to the strawberry festival with our aunt and uncle. Had a nice server. Mike started with a strawberry colada. He said it tasted like a cruise. He ended up ordering a second one to share with our aunt Our aunt and uncle shared the chicken and red velevet waffles. I tasted the waffle. Out of this world. Mike had the voodoo egg rolls. Mike said they were really good. I had the buffalo chicken salad. Generous amount of chicken. I subbed grated cheese for the feta. Very happy with my choice. My only complaint is that while the high ceilings are nice, it is SO noisy and if you have and hearing issues (me) or if loud noise makes you anxious, be prepared to suffer for good food.

Went here for a late afternoon lunch on Valentine's Day. Had the bacon wrapped shrimp, voodoo eggrolls, cajun pasta, and smothered catfish. Everything was delicious! We had Shawn as our server who was super attentive and friendly!

Hands down the best experience of our visit! We once again, had a very larger party (around 12 people). Our server was patient, knowledgeable, & overall personable. Service was timely & the food was excellent. I personally tried the eggrolls, oyster special, and voodoo fries. All 10/10. For my main dish, I ordered the recommended hash brown bowl. So good! Unlike anything I've ever tried, it was well seasoned and a LOT of food! The steak was also excellent.

If you haven't been to The District yet, do yourself a favor and go immediately. The beignets are nothing short of magical--perfectly crisp on the outside, perfectly flavored on the inside, and dusted with just the right amount of powdered sugar. Pair them with one of their superb lattes, and you've got a combination that will change your life. Honestly, everything I've tried from this menu has added immense joy to my life. The flavors, the quality, and the attention to detail in every dish are outstanding. Whether you're stopping in for a quick coffee or indulging in a full meal, The District never disappoints. I'll keep coming back, and I suggest you do the same!

Really liked this place! The building and interior is vintage cool. The service was very good. Full bar with signature cocktails. Nice menu choices ranging from a full app menu, sandwiches, seafood, salads, and chicken & waffles. We tried several things and they were all delicious! The chicken & waffles were great (I had mine without the sriracha honey butter), the Nashville Hot Sandwich (paired with fresh fruit & fries) was also great. The Brussel sprouts were divine, and so on. The Martini flight was quite enjoyable and again the service was excellent. But the other star here had a the building and it's furnishings! The place is large, as it expands back to another 2 section sitting area and then into a deliciously cute Coffee Bar! The decor is gorgeous! Picture wall and all! It really gives an old speakeasy vibe. LOVE IT! This place is a winner! We will absolutely be back!

Went here rencetl because I wanted to try the drink with fog coming from it. Overall, I give the food a 7/10. The drinks were delicious but the appetizers and food was bland to me. I ordered the voodoo egg rolls that were very nasty and switched out for the bacon wrapped shrimp and had the Ched special mahi w grilled shrimp n Gouda grits. It lacked taste also and the sauce was too heavy on the grits. The strawberry lemons drop martini was very delicious.

The building reminded me more of what I would encounter in northern Sonoma, to the west of Healdsburg, or further south in the Paso Robles region. The tasting room is a decent size, although as I was the only visitor at the time, it seemed quite large. Quite a different experience from trying to enter on a Saturday night of a Jazz'n in the Vines concert. There is a patio terrace next to the building which overlooks the vineyard. Since it was a blazing hot June afternoon, I stayed inside rather than sit on the patio. There were seven wines to taste for a modest $5 fee. Four were from sourced grapes (California), two were American/French hybrids grown on the estate and the final was from a native American cultivar, also grown on the estate. All vintages were between 2005 & 2007, except for the recently released Syrah/Cabernet blend which is a 2009. I liked the Roux Saint Louis (a white wine based on the Blanc du Bois grape) as a nice summer wine. The Rouge Militaire is based on the American Cynthiana/Norton (a native red grape). It's a heavier red wine, and still needs a little time to open up. John Seago, the winemaker is often behind the bar, in the tasting room, but was out working the fields on this trip.

There was ample room on the lawn for everyone to have their picnic set up and still have enough room to move around. A food truck was on site for quick bites and of course there was wine available. I asked for something light white and not sweet and was told to try Le Trolley. This wine did not disappoint. It tasted like Sauvignon Blanc and I was pleased to learn that it is one of the wines made from the locally grown grapes. I am looking forward to returning child free so my husband and I can do a tasting and enjoy the scenery.

Located in the downtown area of Hammond, this may be my favorite restaurant in the area and for good reason! The interior has the right amount of lighting to give an intimate feel and there's plenty of indoor seating where tables can be pushed together for large parties. The bar area is also comfy if you're looking to pop in for a glass of wine or a cocktail. Speaking of which, there's plenty of wine by the glass and featured bottle wines. It doesn't have as expansive of a bottle wine menu like other Italian spots but they don't need to as they offer about a dozen wines each from the USA and from the Italy/Spain/Argentina regions. So you'll find whatever you need to suit your tastes. And then there's cocktails. All the classics (Cosmopolitan, Manhattan, Old Fashioned) are here with some Italian favorites like the Negroni. The popular ones amongst us were the Limoncello Spritz (think of a vodka sparkling lemonade), the Espresso Martini, and the Basil Cucumber Gimlet. Tasty and pretty presentations! As for eats, the shareables that are must-orders are the Italian Meatballs (served in polenta w/ spicy tomato sauce), the Calamari, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, and Caprese Salad. These always made the table whenever we were here; the meatballs and brussels sprouts being the ones people couldn't stop eating. The turtle soup is also a good first course if you're going light. It was my first time having turtle soup and I enjoyed the heck out of it! For pastas/entrees, it depends how heavy you want to go. The pastas that we loved were the Fusilli and Casarecce. The Fusilli has a cajun spicy tomato base w/ shrimp, italian sausage, basil, and mushrooms; an excellent combination of ingredients for a delicious pasta dish. The Casarecce is more simple using a parmeson garlic cream sauce and a pan-fried breaded chicken breast on top. For entrees, the pork osso buco, duck breast, and diver scallops were all wonderful. The osso buco especially being super tender was a crowd-pleaser. They also have a filet mignon special w/ a fried potato cake and asparagus garnish finished in a red-wine demi glaze; this special was ordered by several people each time and had all of us oohhh'ing and ahhh'ing every time it was delivered. The filet is super tender and the potato cake is a great complimentary side to it. For dessert, we usually share the house cheesecake which has chocolate chips and caramel with a cookie crust; a perfect way to finish off the meal. That's if we save room for dessert! This spot is a must-visit and a place we plan to frequent whenever we're in Hammond. They also have a lot of gluten-free options in case you have a gluten intolerance. Do yourself a favor and check this spot out; you won't regret it!

It was a little odd, we were the only customers in the restaurant the entire time we were there! Yes, it was Easter weekend, but it just felt odd at 7:00 on a Saturday night and we were the only ones there. Any way...we get seated at our table and ordered crab cakes for an appetizer. For the price, we were expecting more than one tiny crab cake. It was just ok. We were served bread with their signature flavored butter which was good. For dinner I ordered the filet cooked medium and my husband ordered the trout special. My steak was decent, slightly undercooked for my liking, but good flavor. My husband's trout was the smallest piece of fish I've ever seen on someone's plate at a restaurant. He enjoyed it but was still hungry after his meal. We opted not to get dessert since we were the only customers in the restaurant we felt like the staff were waiting for us to leave. That may not have been the case but that's how we felt. Maybe we picked a bad time to try this restaurant so we will give them another try. I would say this a great place for a special occasion if you're looking for ambience. I wouldn't go there with expectations of great food.
