Had the lost amazing time at thos restaurant while chaperoning this HOCO krewe. From the Italian margarita to the appetizer amd entree, everything was amazing. This was my third visit, and unfortunately, my third disappointment. I genuinely want to like this restaurant its location and ambiance are great, but that's not enough to justify a "fine dining" experience. We were seated at a table with a dirty linen and had to help replace it. After that, we waited about 20 minutes without any acknowledgment from a server. Throughout the evening, we repeatedly had to flag someone down just to order, request bread, and get refills. The hostesses were the only consistently attentive part of the experience. The food was mediocre at best. The meatballs were bland, the eggplant was decent but the shrimp had an off aftertaste, and the Caesar salad was average. The redfish entrée was the most concerning STRONG fishy smell and taste, and appeared improperly cleaned. It took over 1.5 hours just to receive it. Service recovery was minimal by the "manager" Our concerns were brushed off, and while the dish was removed from the bill, there was no real effort to address the experience. At this price point, both the food and service should meet a much higher standard. It feels like this restaurant is relying on its location and atmosphere rather than delivering a quality dining experience. Sad! read more

In my opinion, this is the best Sunday Brunch on the Northshore. We ate here for my mom's birthday and we had such an amazing meal. We started with the Crispy Eggplant but it looked so good we ate half before I realized I forgot to take a picture. Our waiter was very attentive, food came pretty quickly. Excellent service and delicious food. I was very impressed with the chicken Parmesan. It was the tasty I've had on the North Shore.

Went for our anniversary and had a nice dinner! The fresh baked bread was really good. The service was ok. Not amazing but not bad. The drinks were good and they give a nice pour. It was vet quiet in the restaurant.... Seemed odd for a Sunday but we did not mind. This is a classics Mandeville place and everyone should have a meal there. read more

One of the best meals I've had in a long time! Arrived a little later on a Thursday evening to be greeted by happy and welcoming FOH staff. The arancini was the best I've ever had. The "Taste of Tammany" (kinda like Coolinary in Nola) menu was very impressive for 3 courses and being only $42. Everything was EXCELLENT! I had high hopes for this restaurant due to its longevity in the neighborhood. I will start by saying the food & cocktails were very good. However, the service and ambiance left much to be desired, especially for the price ($100/ person). The restaurant decor is very dated, and there was an odd smell when being escorted to our table. The lady who brought our water spilled some on the carpet and it took 10 minutes for our waiter to introduce himself and get our drink order. In addition, he was not very friendly, had almost a depressed demeanor about him, and did not volunteer the fish or the soup of the day. I definitely expect more when paying what Nuvolari's charges. There are many restaurants in Old Mandeville w/much better service, prices, and atmosphere. read more

My wife and I have been going to Nuvo's since we were children. 40 years of family dinners, dates, proms and events! We've always loved it and were heart broken when it changed ownership but, to our surprise we have found the menu changes refreshing and some we love even better. The steak tips are now in a light bed of Gorgonzola puree instead of a bowl of demiglace. And, the Bolognese....Superb! Paired with the best servers, staff and bartenders in Mandeville, we're happy to say it's still our place of choice for date night still to this day! Bar is great. Good bartenders, drinks and atmosphere.. Unfortunately the food is now terrible. They used to have the best veal piccata in the New Orleans metro area but last night it was so bad, it was insulting. They should fire whomever considers capers in butter a piccata sauce. read more

We used to LOVE this place. We were HIGHLY disappointed when my husband and I had a MUCH needed and well planned date night. We had reservations this Friday 4/21/23 at 6:30pm and they sat us where we had requested, which was much appreciated!! They gave us our menus then we ordered drinks and appetizers . When the waitress came back over to take our orders I was super excited to get my favorite dish, the Spaghetti and meatballs. She takes our order and awhile later, comes back and tells me SORRY WE ARE OUT OF THE Spaghetti and Meatballs!!! What ??!!!!! It was only 6:30pm on a Friday night !!! I was sooo disappointed. I had to quickly pick something else on the menu . She recommended the Penne in Vodka sauce w/bacon. YUCK !!! I wasn't a fan AT ALL. It was lukewarm at best and the noodles were wayyyyy overcooked. It was like mush in my mouth and very salty. This experience really surprised us and we will definitely think of another place to go our next date night or special occasion unfortunately read more

Dined last night for the first time. Atmosphere was inviting. Food was delicious. Had 2 appetizers. Tasted 3 main courses and 2 deserts. With a glass of red. Everything was great. But not as great as our server (Devon) who was, to say the least, very busy and still made time for our (the family's) questions regarding the menu. Keeping drinks filled and bread on the table. Sat at the bar for a date night. We started with the pear cocktail & the Italian margarita. The pear cocktail was great but we weren't a fan of the margarita. However, the food was INCREDIBLE. First let's talk about the warm bread & butter. The bread had a little crunch on the outside & was soft and chewy on the inside. The butter was great as well. I loved that my husband and I both received our own butter dish so we had plenty! We started with the meatball appetizer. So flavorful and delicious. I'm not usually one to order meatballs as an app but I'm so glad we did! For our entrees, we ordered the lobster pasta and the redfish picatta. Both EXCELLENT. Wife and I lived in Mandeville 20 years. Moved away 6 years ago and moved back a few months ago. Nuvolari's was always one of our favorites. Had the best veal dish in South LA. Couldn't wait to eat there again. Heard it had new owners but thought they would not mess with a great menu. Well they did. The bread and salads were outstanding but the main courses were not very good at all. The menu didn't have all the great dishes that Nuvolari's were known for. The food was cold, bland, and salty. We had the veal lasagna and the redfish. I really hate bashing a local restaurant, but it really was not good. I give the food 2 stars and the waiter 5+ stars. He was really nice and backed up the restaurant's menu regardless of what we thought of the food. read more

We had heard it was a quiet place, but we were seated in a room with a private party of about 20 and they were a little loud. But they were friendly!! Let me preface this review with the fact that we have been supporting Nuvolari's since the shut down in March 2020 and we were one of the first to order takeout back then. We live five minutes away and are glad to support our local business. However.... Ordered Chicken Piccata with extra lemon on Thursday, 07/02/2020. As you can see, it is doused in heavy cream and no lemon. Called to speak to the manager and was told their piccata has a lot of cream in it and this is the way they serve it. This looks like Alfredo with capers thrown on top to me. I did not eat this as I wanted something light. I don't know what happened to Nuvolari's but I won't be going back any time soon. If you go don't order anything piccata-style as it will not be served the way you think; definitely will not be piccata-style, in a light broth with lemons and capers. read more

We are visiting family that live in Mandeville. We had eaten here several times in past years while visiting. This time was not up to past experiences. The service was very very slow and when she did come she was in a hurry. I think she must have had too many tables and a big table next to ours took up a lot of her time. The appetizers we ordered were good, we had 3 children and 2 ordered buttered noodles which were uneatable with half the bowl swimming in butter. The adult meals were for the most part good. Except the scallop potatoes were extremely salty. We did not eat them. The steaks were cooked to order and the fish dish was good. The lobster ravioli dish was not cooked enough and was hard. We sat down at 615pm and I think we finished around 830 or 845pm due to slow service. Thankfully we had well behaved children with that long of a meal time. Someone mentioned the chef was gone that night so not sure the backup staff has it all together. read more

The seafood dishes are fresh, unique and delicious. They have a nice variety of desserts and the bread pudding is "to die for". Not impressive to us. We were walked to the rear of the restaurant to be seated, and when we passed a certain area all I could smell was a [feline] urine-like aroma. I noticed it right away, and when we sat, the other 3 accompanying me could also smell it. The calamari was bland. The shrimp and eggplant appetizer was good. We waited for around an hour for our entree's, but we needed to leave for an important matter. We took our plates to go instead of dining in like we were originally doing. When we got home, I opened my box of salmon and this is what was in there. We will most likely not visit this restaurant again any time soon. The portions, flavor of food, service, etc. are better elsewhere. I was excited to finally try Nuvolari's, but am very disappointed.
