When the menu offers truffle fries, YOU ORDER THEM. This place is no exception - their truffle fries were very good (even better with the garlic aioli). I also loved their large beer selection! I had a great hazy IPA with dinner and bonus, they offer any of their beers in small portions, so I got a nitro stout, 5oz, for dessert. I stopped in when in town for work during the polar vortex and was so happy to find a place still open. It was 20 degrees warmer here than in MN so I was surprise places in town were even closed! They were playing Jurassic Park at the bar (YES) until some lame-o requested the game (BOO). For food, I had the fried chicken sandwich, and that is where the star is lost. The sandwich was super greasy and bleh. The batter is the thin type that can be oh so good, but not when there are pockets of grease waiting to be popped in your mouth. I ate half the sandwich and turned my attention to the fries and beer for the remainder of my meal. The rest of the menu looked good, so I would def stop back if I am ever back in town! read more

We ended up in Sioux City on a road trip when we were forced to stop because of tornado warnings in Omaha. This part of downtown 'historic 4th' I think it's called is so cute and was such a great night. We were hungry and we're at a bar across the street but their kitchen was already closed (everything closes pretty early). So we headed to the diving elk, first off the name, so weird, but such a cool story! We asked the server what to order and she said the poutine, I was totally down but my husband was a little iffy. It was definitely the best thing on the menu! The fries are thick to soak up the gravy and the elk sausage has a hint of spice for the perfect kick. We also ordered the chicken sandwich with soup and the pork chop. The chicken sandwich was good but could have used a little hot sauce or peppers for more flavor, I was not a fan of the soup and the pork chop was cooked perfectly but definitely could have used more seasoning, the spinach that came with the pork chop was delish. I think we started on such a high with the poutine everything that came after couldn't live up to it. Beers are 3.50-4.50 and they have a ton of liquors and liqueurs to make some great mules and craft cocktails. The bartender that works here is a real mixologist and one of the best in the game so make sure to order one of their signature cocktails. We had dinner there tonight after looking at Yelp for a place. Being out of towners, we have to rely on others reviews. At first we were very nervous after my husband ordered the cubano and was told they couldn't take the cheese off because it was "pre-made". Well we finally ordered the burger for my hubby and the shawarma chicken sandwich for me. Of course we had to order the fried Brussels sprouts. Omg!! A must have. They were sweet but not overly. I plan on trying to recreate at home. The shawarma chicken was flavorful and tender. We decided to not order a dessert unless they they had bread pudding. Well guess what? They had it. Very good but not for the faint of heart. The sugar got to be a bit much. Overall, excellent food. Service was great, I thought the food runner (had Aguilera on the back of her shirt) was adorable! She was friendly and so sweet. If we are ever in Sioux City again, we will come back. read more

I had been hearing reviews from friends about this place for a while and always had the temptation to try it out myself. One night, I happened to be in downtown Sioux City and was looking for a quick bite. Fortunately this place was one of the only places in the downtown area that closes it's kitchen later than the rest, so it was finally meant to be. A friend and I stopped by and meant to just grab some appetizers and drinks. Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted by some friendly faces and handed some water and menus. First glance at their menu and I already I was in for more than just a small bite. We ordered Truffle Fries, Mexican Shrimp Cocktail (MINDBLOWING DELICIOUSNESS!!!), and a Hot Chicken Sandwich. We of course also had to try one of the craft beers on tap, which our server recommended. The service was great and the food was phenomenal. I also loved the gastropub atmosphere. Felt different than other local restaurant/bars. I am definitely hooked on that shrimp cocktail and will be back for some more soon! Thank you! read more

Such good food. Only reason for lack of 5th star is they seemed understaffed on a Saturday evening and we waiting close to an hour to eat--I probably noticed the wait time more because I was pregnant and therefore not imbibing on their expansive rotating beer selection. I got the mahi mahi which is served with brussel sprouts and quinoa. I'm not normally a quinoa fan but it was cooked perfectly and the whole dish was just awesome. Husband ordered a cheeseburger. Came with pickled red onions which were to die for. We also ordered a poutine appetizer which was okay--would recommend ordering the gravy on the side. Highly recommend the appetizer 3 little pigs. It comes with this amazing pineapple butter and cherry mustard.

If you go here you MUST get the truffle fries. They are delicious and come with a yummy dipping sauce. I can't get enough of them!

Maybe it was an off night but was definitely disappointed with this place. Even though there were about 6 staff members it felt like they had no system for handling customers. Had to continually flag someone down to get menus/place an order etc. The food was not that good either. The cheese on the steak was tasteless and the cream of spinach with the pork was more like a watery soup in consistency. With all of the 5 star reviews I hope this was just an off night but our experience did not live up to the rating. read more
