This cute place is delightful! We got there just after 10 on a Sunday and only had about a 30 minute wait. I ordered the Dixie bowl and the server was delighted I had found their secret menu! The Dixie bowl is bacon, a biscuit, potatoes and eggs topped with sausage gravy. The only complaint was that I finished it all and wanted more! The service was wonderful, the menu had something for everyone, and they even serve alcohol! Definitely a place to try!

The Dixie Grill has been on my list to stop at in Downtown Wilmington for a while now. The restaurant has been around since 1904. The decor here is a diner theme. I was there on a Monday a little after 11am and the place was very busy. There are booth and bar seating. I chose a booth as it was seat yourself but would have been ok at the bar seating if that was my only option. Service was very friendly and my drink order was taken immediately when the menu was brought to my seat. I was given some time to decide what to order. As much as I wanted to try the benedict here, I went with chicken fingers as I wasn't feeling breakfast that day and I had just had a burger the day before. They were really good and I was given a very large portion of honey mustard. I could have gotten barbecue or ranch too. The fries were a large portion too. I hope the Dixie Grill is open the next time I am in town.

Stopped here for Sunday brunch. There was a 40 minute wait so we walked around downtown for awhile. Two seats came open at the bar so we chose to sit there -- probably 25-30 minute wait total. Service at the bar was excellent. Waitress quickly took our drink orders. Pet peeve -- there were no prices on the menu for nonalcoholic drinks. Husband and I both decided on the Farmer's Omelet. I ordered home fries with mine and he the stoneground grits. Home fries were excellent -- cut small, crispy and well done. I liked that all the condiments -- ketchup, hot sauce, jelly-- were right there on the bar. Omelette was stuffed with veggies but did not have much flavor. It needed a sharper cheese than Swiss and a little more salsa on top. Overall a good experience and a cute little restaurant.

Wonderful Iconic Grill in Downtown Wilmington. I had a basic breakfast which was perfect. Bacon was super crispy, and the biscuit was light and fluffy. Hands down a perfect breakfast

My most favorite grill/diner in Wilmington! The prices are reasonable, you get a lot of food, atmosphere is great and service is always wonderful. It's a lot of open seating, you can see how your food is being prepared and cooked, and definitely know if it's a busy weekend or not like a holiday because there will be a wait.

Solid place to eat! Went on Saturday morning at around 10am, we had a bit of a wait (15mins) but nothing too awful. It was pretty busy inside and there wasn't much waiting area space. Note: there is only street parking - I walked from our unit so I'm not sure how much parking costs!! The food was surprisingly good, enjoyed the bacon which was crispy and not at all soggy. Great home fries! The server was nice too (tattooed lady cannot remember her name but she gave us recommendations for good tattoo shops so thank you!) I'd come back for sure.

Delicious breakfast! Definitely a heartier meal, but had a cute diner feeling to it. We sat outside, the weather was perfect and our waitress had great personality. All the food was delicious and she kept our coffees full!

Service was excellent! Ordered the Louisiana Hash with scrambled eggs and Rye Toast and coffee! The hash was excellent although too many potatoes in my opinion! Toast was good! Coffee was weak! Cool setting and everyone was nice! I'd recommend this place!

Tasty pancakes. Good coffee. Parking was easy on a Sunday morning. Service was fine, nothing amazing. Prices are a bit high but food is good.

Local spot, long wait, worth the wait. Dixie grill is downtown wilmington serving breakfast and lunch. The service is friendly. The building is old and so is all the restaurant decor. The menu has a good variety for vegetarians and meat eaters, kids too. Put your name down with the hostess and wait to be called. My recommendation: order a tequila sunrise and veggie breakfast burrito. Top with hot sauce and enjoy.

Typical diner food. Friendly service, good food, family diner atmosphere. We had breakfast here while vacationing in Downtown Wilmington. Dixie was an inexpensive option to get breakfast for the family. Bacon was thin, crispy, and smoky. The hash is delicious. The corn beef was amazing, only wished there was more throughout the hash. Next visit we decided to order the hash without the cheese. The cheese seems to take away from the greatness of the hash. The eggs were fresh. The grits were a little too wet for my liking. I will return, perhaps next time I will try a sandwich.

The food was delicious! I ordered a reuben sandwhich and my fried got the Lousiana hash. It actually was super delicious despite the presentation. I wish I had more fries! The service was fine, our waistress was a young lady who was nice but not very attentive to us. Overall a great place to grab a quick bite to eat!

Delicious breakfast! If we are in the Wilmington NC area again, I'd go back. I had a wonderfully full cheese and Sausage omelette with really tasty home fries. My wife enjoyed her Veggie omelette. Our friends from the area who picked the place enjoyed their breakfast. Kinsey our Waitress was great!

First time and the last, smoky, dingy, dreadful cold home fries. Would not recommend.

We were finally able to stop into RUMCOW on Grace Street in Wilmington this weekend!…read more We had a reservation. We were seated within a couple of minutes. Our server Ava knew the menu and read the table well. No overselling, no scripted recitations. She just took care of us. Thanks Ava. The Blackened Chicken Breast came with basmati rice, seasonal vegetables, black bean salsa, and a chipotle cream sauce that worked harder than it had any right to. The flavors didn't compete. They really settled into each other. The Rumcow Salad, loaded with mixed greens, carrot, tomato, onion, cucumber, and wonton strips, we ordered topped with shrimp. It was sharper and more interesting than we had expected. It's a newer spot in Wilmington, and it shows. In The Best Sense. We'll be back for sure!

We've been to Rumcow many times over the years and always enjoyed it. It's a cool spot with two…read morefloors, a lively atmosphere, and a strong A sanitation rating (96.5), which is always reassuring. The service was friendly and attentive, and we started the evening with a bottle of Cambria Katherine's Vineyard Chardonnay (2023), which was a nice way to begin dinner. Unfortunately, the food this time around just didn't live up to what we remember. We started with the Asian Tots, which used to be one of the best items on the menu. In the past, the peanut sauce was poured over the top so everything came together as one dish. Now it's served in a small cup on the side, and there isn't enough of it to properly coat the tots. They also stopped finishing the dish with the salt they used to sprinkle on top, and even the presentation has changed -- the silver dome they once used is gone. What used to be a great appetizer has been reduced to something that's simply okay. For the main courses, the results were mixed but mostly disappointing. My blackened chicken was a little overcooked. My wife ordered the miso salmon, and that was overcooked as well -- which is especially noticeable with fish. When salmon goes past the sweet spot it quickly becomes dry, and that seemed to be the case here. None of the food was terrible, but none of it really stood out either. Dessert didn't help much. I ordered the carrot cake, but what arrived looked more like a small cupcake buried under a heavy amount of icing, with a large mound of whipped cream on the side. There wasn't much actual cake there, and it wasn't what I expected from a carrot cake dessert. One thing that stood out during the meal is that it feels like the kitchen may be constantly adjusting dishes -- moving sauces, changing presentations, tweaking things that didn't necessarily need fixing. In restaurants, sometimes the best move is to pick a lane and execute it consistently rather than continually modifying dishes that customers already liked. So here's the bottom line. Rumcow is not the Rumcow of yesteryear. Was the food terrible? No. But it was mostly meh, and that may be the most disappointing part. This used to be a place known for memorable dishes and small details done right. Right now it feels like a restaurant that has drifted away from what made it special. The atmosphere and service are still good, but the food just doesn't match the reputation it once had.

The whole experience was perfect. We had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready. It was such a minimal wait that I didn't think anything of it. Our waitress came over to our table, apologized, and said they'd be sending out their little gem salad and brussel sprouts. Both appetizers were plenty for four of us. The salad was romaine lettuce with fish roe and had a umami style to it that I really enjoyed. The Brussels were exceptional. I'm a big fan normally and these were by far some of the best I've had. For cocktails I tried the man of war and the ghost town which was complex and amazing. For dinner I tried the fish of the day, which were scallops from Maine with ancient grains and a small green salad. The scallops were rich tasting and succulent. My husband had the burger and said it was really good. The whole dining experience was exceptional. The servers were attentive yet knew how to pace our experience. We never felt rushed or imposed upon or forgotten. With all the restaurant choices in Wilmington, Dram Yard rises to the top.
