How do you overcook bacon? I ordered three Bacado and the bacon was so crisp it was like eating a shingle. But I ate it all bc I didn't want to complain as my gf was already upset at the license policy for ordering a drink. I get there are times, but that's a bit extreme other places would have served her no problem. So why is this establishment so strict? Makes no sense. My mother's meal, pancakes, came out fine. And when she only at half the waitress offered to get her extra toppings to take home. This was really the ONLY reason this place got a 3 Star rating. I should start by saying I tried to deliver this feedback directly to management but couldn't find anyone and they provide no email address on the receipt or anything like that. I've been eating here for over a year, and the quality has declined noticeably. This is currently the worst First Watch in Wilmington. the Mayfaire location is consistently better. I'd like to see this location improve since it's much closer. If it does, I'll gladly update my review. Front-of-house appearance is below even casual standards. Shirts look wrinkled, grooming is inconsistent, and the overall presentation feels unclean. Basic uniform, grooming, and cleanliness expectations need to be enforced. Several basics are failing. Guests are allowed to smoke or vape at tables. Decor and finishes are visibly dirty, with stained upholstered chairs, dusty lights and hanging elements, and sticky floors with built-up grime. The lack of soft materials makes the space loud, cold, and echoey, and there are too few booths. Service has also dropped. Coffee is no longer poured, just left in a pot. Overall cleanliness, atmosphere, and service standards need correction. read more

My family and I ate here recently and the food was amazing. Their dragon fruit drink was very refreshing and flavorful, way better than expected. I had one of their original pancakes, the million dollar potatoes, a side of chicken sausage. I also wanted to try their caramel mini donuts. Everything I ordered was fantastic. The donuts were really good but the million dollar potatoes were the best. I would highly recommend. The service was excellent as well. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there were lots of people but we only had to wait about 20mins for a party of four. We requested outdoor seating since it was such a nice day outside. Three girlfriends and I decided to come to First Watch for brunch one Saturday. When I arrived it wasn't too crowded, but by the time we sat and had ordered, it was packed! Everyone enjoyed a selection of drinks- one person tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch drink while another had a mimosa. Everyone enjoyed their drinks. For food, we had a selection of items- two orders of the pesto chicken grain bowl which were completely devoured, one order of the power french toast which looked incredible, and one carnitas breakfast burrito which was truly fantastic. Our server, Kirsten, was very nice and very helpful with suggestions on food, drinks, and possible accommodations for food items. Overall a really good experience. Putting First Watch into the weekend brunch rotation. Huge and varied menu with lots of healthy options. At least four types of pancakes, juices, eggs, frittatas, and that's not even the lunch options. Even though we went at 1:30 my son and I both decided on breakfast. I ordered a cup of coffee and was left with a pot which I appreciated. I was not charged per cup as another reviewer was. I ordered the carrot cake pancake and my son ordered the farmer's breakfast. He's a solid 15 who hadn't had breakfast so his eggs, toast, and potatoes disappeared before I could grab a bit. He then moved onto helping me finish my gigantic pancake which omg was so good. It was filled with shaved carrots and raisins so clearly it was healthy, right? It took us a while to order given the vast menu but our waitress was very nice and gave us plenty of time. read more

I normally have a very good experience with First Watch and its locations. However, I ordered avocado toast (eggs over medium) to go. The first piece was fine although the avocado didn't look as fresh but was still yummy. The second piece of toast with an egg was totally overcooked to the point where I couldn't even bite or cut into it. It was hard as a rock and felt burnt on the bottom. Finally getting around to writing a review for First Watch, and I must say I am pleasantly surprised with them. We just had our third visit and consistently enjoyed our experience. The food, service, and wait is always on point. Think of it as a modern Cracker Barrel.  I always get the avocado toasts and enjoy the *hefty* portion of avocado you get- seriously, it must be an entire fruit. I love the potatoes as well. Anyone I've dined with has enjoyed their dishes as well.  It's pretty low frill, which I appreciate, especially for breakfast. By the time I'm there, I'm starving, and the prompt service allows for my hunger to subside quickly. They have a variety of breakfast beverages, like a classic mimosa or bloody, as well as their fresh juices.  While I know it is a chain, it is probably my favorite breakfast place in town. No one else has the consistent quality in food and service for the price as First Watch. read more

12/08/21 The last time we were here was in August when the mask mandates were in affect and my only complaint was that they were not following it. This time there are no mandates in affect so no complaints. I'm glad to say that nothing has changed, the service is excellent, the coffee is rich and hot, the food is still excellent, and Bloody Mary's are still served in a Swing Flip Top Glass Bottle. Although I did find out that the use of these bottles was not the result of a brilliant marketing decision, but one based on legal requirements, that was a bummer. My wife had her standard fare of Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and she was just as ecstatic about them as she was the first time, she had the in the Omaha's First Watch which is what introduced to First Watch in 2017. This time I tried something new, I got their Frittata Rustica which is a classic Italian-style omelet with kale, house-roasted Crimini mushrooms, onions and tomatoes topped with Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Served with ciabatta toast. I wasn't too sure about having a salad for breakfast, but it all worked. I also had a side of bacon, a little over cooked for my tastes, but they tried. The breakfast was so filling, not to the point that I was uncomfortable, that I passed on lunch and dinner, and I am writing this review at 9:30PM and I'm only going to have a snack. Great for my diet. I'm happy to say that I can highly recommend this restaurant due to the great service and great food, all fresh, what more can you ask for. read more

The best part of this restaurant was the service and the cleanliness/presentation of the restaurant itself. There were tons of food options which all looked and sounded amazing but I was not impressed with my dish at all.. I was so disappointed. There was little to absolutely no chorizo in the omelet and the omelet was almost wet.. as if it wasn't cooked all the way. I love home fries and these have the potential of being so good but they lacked flavor. My friend loves the French toast, he's been here before and loves this dish. I tried the French toast, it tasted like banana pudding to me and unfortunately I'm not a banana pudding fan at all :( So I feel like I can't have an opinion on that dish, it looked beautiful and there was tons of syrup on it which is always yum:P I will definitely come back to try something else though because there was so many options that had tons of variety and peaked my interest, the service was wonderful, restaurant was full of happy customers and so I'm hopeful for a better experience next time! read more

First Watch was just right this morning. It was my day off so decided to take one for the team...jk I didn't want to cook breakfast for myself. Thank goodness it was too early to be crowded. The staff was welcoming and professional. Started with coffee - cup and carafe (love that). The coffee was just right. I'm one of those people who prefer my coffee without additives (creamer, sugar) just strong enough to wake me up, but not strong enough to stand the spoon up in it. I tried the Summer juice selection - quite good. Had the Chorizo, chilis, avocado omelet topped with sour cream and chilis, with a side order of perfectly cooked fried potatoes cooked with sliced onion, and toast with jam. I'm not from the south but as a visitor I really love this chain! Second time coming to a First Watch and it did not disappoint! Enjoyed our spring juices and our waiter was so sweet and helpful! He helped us in ordering and just made us feel right at home. The breakfast tacos were sooo good and flavorful. Yummy avocado toast can't go wrong with that! Our dining experience was average. Our server was courteous, the food just ok but not terrible. The issue arose at check out. I asked if there was a bag of granola I could purchase without waiting as we were on a timeline. I was told there was one in front of the checkout counter and I grabbed it. I handed the bag of granola to the cashier and a long secretive conversation arose between the cashier and hostess. Once they concluded their conversation, one staff member left, returning to say they were out of granola and to rectify the situation they would need to charge me again for my original breakfast bill ($90) to credit me back the $6 I paid for the granola. Uhm .... No! Banks can take up to 7 days to process credits so I'd be out almost $100 bucks for potentially a week for their error. When I requested they refund me the $6 without charging me an additional $90 - all the sudden there was a different bag of granola?! The scenario took 15 minutes and i still never found out why I couldn't have the original bag of granola I was told to retrieve from the front counter. It sat there during the whole delay. The delay I tried to avoid by asking upfront if they had granola. read more

For all intents and purposes, this is a 5 star review but let it be known that I have grievances. You may be confused by my 5-star rating . . . . I gave what I did because I am not an a--hole, nor am I a qualified critic, and don't want to bring down a local business's street cred for one average experience. But, the general public needs to know that the menu flaunts how the pancakes are "humongous" and "beyond big" yet they are so thin even a starved P.O.W. would complain they were still hungry after eating what I received. At the table, feeling taken advantage of and feeling the need to discuss, adjectives such as "paper-thin" and "tortilla chip" were thrown around. To be clear, the food was actually quite good it's just that when I take my lady out to get coffee and a sit-down breakfast, I'm not counting out the possibility that we will be wheeled out on a stretcher or, at the very least, brought to the hospital to be put into a medically induced coma to allow for our breakfast to digest. We left only slightly full. A travesty of an experience? Surely not. The food we received was quite good, we just didn't get enough. A subpar breakfast experience? You decide. read more
