AMAZING!! I cannot say enough great things about my experience at Emily J Aveda Salon @ Emory Point! Liana, my stylist, was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend you asking for her when you schedule an appointment! I came into my appointment with an idea of what I wanted but still a little unsure. Liana looked at all the pictures I had saved on Pinterest and worked with me to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted done to my hair. Just FYI, she was working with long, baby fine, super thick, beach wavy, dark ash blonde hair with a well grown out ombre (pretty damaged) that had not been trimmed in 8 months. Liana helped me understand that what I was asking for was to tone things down a little and maybe make my hair look more like it has baylage highlights. It was so nice to have a stylist that worked so hard to make sure she understood what I wanted and that what we decided on was what I really wanted! After the toner/color had been applied and my hair washed and dried, it was time for my haircut. What I really loved was how Liana would take pictures of my hair after she was done to make sure I was happy. She ended up shaping the v-cut a little more for me after her first cut was done because it was not quite as angled as I wanted. Gene, another stylist, would walk around and help other stylist when she saw there was room for her to help. Her and Liana were so kind to me the entire time! You could just tell that they enjoy what they do and that they like working with people! As a natural dark brunette who has been there and back again with color, weird hair cuts, attempted (and failed) balayage/ombre, I was ready to throw in the towel and return to a dark brunette after all of the processing. I would consider myself to be a perfectionist and a fairly high maintenance client when it comes to getting what I know I like. I've been so apprehensive about letting anyone touch my hair, despite its desperate need for better color and and a cut. I live at Emory Point and called to make an appointment here because of the good reviews and close proximity. I was not disappointed!! I booked with Jean, a master colorist/stylist, and she knew exactly what to do after listening patiently to my hair's never-ending story. The salon is brightly lit, clean, and they take great care in making sure that you're comfortable. This meant coffee, comfortable processing with minimal yanking or tugging, and a great atmosphere. They even had ear protectors so I wouldn't get dark brown dye all over the sides of my ears/face! And their wash station chairs are super comfortable too..(my long legs hang out awkwardly and uncomfortably at most salons). Jean told me exactly what to expect with time and price, and delivered both exactly as described. They were gentle with my over-processed hair, had it blow dried gently and beautifully, cut it neatly while keeping my greatly adored long hair length, and overall had me walking out feeling the best I've felt about my hair in a long time! Could not ask for a better salon than Emily J Aveda-Emory, The atmosphere and consultants at the salon made me feel very comfortable. I finally found a salon that listens to their clients and what they want. Lexyy was the consultant that worked with me. She made me feel at home. She educated me on the products she was using and gave me some tips on how to manage my new color and haircut, I asked about if I needed new colors for my make-up. She gave me some tips to help accent my eyes to go along with the new color and hair-cut. It was overall an awesome experience. Everyone at home ask me how I get the curls to stay in my hair and I have to tell them it's the Aveda product "Be Curly" Lexyy introduced me to. The shampoo (Rosemary Mint) smells wonderful too! My hair was a challenge to fix because I previously had it dyed at a different place but didn't get the results I wanted. My hair was originally black and I wanted purple. I went in for a free consultation and was very relieved they could fix the color of my hair. Now, I am very thankful that I stopped by because I absolutely loved how it turned out. They definitely know how to do fashion colors on hair. They walked me through the whole process and answered all my questions. Because my previous hair color was so bad, the staff was very tentative and made sure the colors turned out right. Overall, I highly recommend Emily J. Salon. I cannot say enough good things about Emily J! I had such a great experience with Jean. I came in for a consultation about doing balayage hair my my upcoming wedding, and Jean delivered. I don't color my hair often, but Jean was knowledgeable and and came up with a really good plan. My hair color came out so well and looks so natural. I haven't stopped receiving complements on my new do. I have been on the look out for someone who is able to pick a style and color for me, and Jean did an exceptional job. I will definitely be returning! The price is a little high but on par with other aveda salons. It is definitely worth the splurge for such a good job. read more

I live in Columbia, SC and drive to Emily J Aveda Salon to have my hair colored and cut every 6 weeks. They have several fantastic stylist at this location that really know what they are doing. Very professional and courteous. They stay updated on the latest fashions and have always been helpful to me in choosing the right color or cut. The make-up tips I received was the topic of conversation with my friends when I got back to Columbia. Just love being taken care of. I would recommend Emily J Aveda Salon to everyone. Excellent haircut, service, and ambience. Emily is super nice and really listens to the customer balancing her expertise with the customer's wishes. I am very happy with my haircut, and it turned out better than I anticipated which is a great way to feel post haircut. The space is relaxing, loft style, friendly, well-lit for a nice haircut experience. Even the shampoo chairs are comfortable which is great as usually they are a pain in the neck! I highly recommend this salon for a haircut. I haven't tried any of the other services, but I plan to soon! read more

I went in to get a blonde balayage, which was done by their stylist Jean. She knew how to deal with my dark, Asian hair, and my coloring came out beautifully and not coppery at all! In fact, she even retoned my hair after noticing some coppery tones still left over after applying the first layer of toner. She was so sweet and professional, and even the receptionists were so lovely and made my experience wonderful. Probably the best hair dye job I have ever had. I'll definitely be back. read more

My stylist, Meredith Van Sickle, started with Emily J Aveda this month. I was in desperate need for a cut and was so glad I visited! The salon and the staff are fantastic, and Meredith is thriving in such a great atmosphere. It's great when a stylist you trust is happy where she works... that's when people truly perform their best! I got my hair colored from Emily J and I absolutely loved the experience. Their customer service is excellent with a reasonable price to match. I color my hair all the time and so I worried that it would get damaged even more due to the chemical dyes but their Aveda products minimize the damage and I was very satisfied with my hair. Sara has colored and cut my hair multiple times and i LOVE it every time! She always knows how to do it exactly how I want it and she is always getting me to try new colors and styles.
