DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH. I am prefacing this by saying the US MEDICAL BOARD has been notified but I need to make sure that this type of mistreatment does not happen to anyone. Valery Shulman and his whole office are absolutely horrible. I have been his patience since I was 18 years old, I am now 23 and while the service and care have always been less than standard, I dealt with it because it was convenient. The last couple weeks I have been dealing with a cancer scare. I needed a biopsy, and MRI w contrast (this is important for later) and multiple other tests. After I got my mammogram and X-ray done I was told by the doctor who would be performing my biopsy that I should get an MRI w contrast. I had to BEG Shulman for a referral. When I finally got one I booked the appointment for April 4, the appointment was scheduled everything seemed fine. The day before the appointment I receive a message to confirm my appointment, which I do. About 45 minutes later I get a call that I can no longer come to my appointment because SHULMAN CALLED THEM AND SAID THAT I SAID THAT I NO LONGER WANTED THE APPOINTMENT BC I DIDNT THINK IT WAS NEEDED. They never called me and asked, of course I wanted the appointment. This was a very important appointment. I tell the person on the line that I do want an appointment and it's a mistake. Turns out Shulman gave the wrong type of referral and tried to save him self by saying that I didn't want the appointment. The person on the line says that all they need is a verbal OKAY from Shulman to continue with the appointment. The next 3.5 hours are filled with me and my mom calling Shulmans office trying to get him to give the okay, he refuses. While his nasty receptionist SOPHIA is hanging up the phone and using nasty nasty language to talk to me and my mother . My mom went to his office which he yelled at her, kicked her out, and refused to help. He kept insisting that it's not his responsibility and that he knows what he's doing. When he finally said that he would call, we were so pleased that his would all be over. I wait another 45 minutes and call back the MRI place only for them to tell me that Shulman in fact didn't not give his okay, and when they tried calling him he just kept hanging up on the MRI place FOUR TIMES. Finally, I decide that I will just pay for the MRI W CONTRAST out of pocket for my appointment that was supposed to be on April 4 at 4pm. I call the mri place to tell them that I will be paying out of pocket to which they respond THAT SHULMANS OFFICE CALLED 25 MINUTES AGO AND CANCELED MY APPOINTMENT. Now, a procedure that was immensely important to my health is canceled with no future appointments available in the next 2 months (I needed to get this procedure done before my biopsy). Shulman decided to cancel my appointment because of his petty vendetta against me. After all of this, I call him again to find out why he did it, he says, "your mom canceled it, not me" THAT IS A COMPLETE LIE. My mother was either on the phone with me or with me the whole time. He is a horrible, nasty, disgusting old man. He is trying to make sure I do not get the care I need and CANCELING APPOINTMENTS ON MY BEHALF. Do not go here. Go anywhere else. MOST RUDE STAFF!! the office looks very dirty. They don't even really look at you when you come in for a check up. You wait over an hour and get a rude nurse that takes your blood pressure and she leaves you for about 25 minutes and then the nurse practitioner comes in, although very sweet you never get to see the doctor.! If you are not Russian they treat you very bad we are always the only non Russian speaking clients (all though i am part Russian) they literally are undertrained and the front desk lady doesnt understand simple things like when is my appointment? A doctor this old too at risk of brain rot am hesitant to give my life over anymore after time after time my health not getting better. No price will be paid for your injustice. I have never experience such rudeness and unprofessionalism as I have at this doctors office with the front desk staff. 1. The front desk woman that answered the phone would let me finish my sentence to what I was going to ask said "I DONT KNOW" and abruptly hung up the phone on me. 2. When I called back later to speak with the office manager about what happened she wouldn't listen to what I had to say and defended the front office worker. She said she is the best worker in the office and said she didn't want to hear anything else I had to say about her. 3. The worst. To call this a doctor's office is a gross misrepresentation of the service they provide. I don't know if it's possible to revoke a medical license on the basis of poor business management, but the Valery Shulman group would be a prime candidate. It's more of an answering service than a medical facility. In the 3+ years I've been a patient, I've been successfully able to schedule an appointment a grand total of exactly ONE time. The office is only open for about 3 sporadic hours throughout the day, and when you do manage to get in touch with someone capable of scheduling a visit, their availabilities are sparse and not readily available at all. God forbid you have a cold or some kind of medical emergency you're not going to find much help here. The facility itself is small, old, and not particularly inviting of sanitary confidence. Dr. Valery and his staff are nice enough, albeit potentially incompetent. I went in for a routine checkup-- bloodwork, etc. We also made plans to schedule a PET scan for a separate issue I'd been having. Several weeks later, after having received no updates on my results and no follow up for the PET scan, I called to check in. Lo and behold I got reacquainted with the Valery Shulman answering service, and (spoiler alert) never received any follow up, nor the PET scan, or another visit to the office. I'm writing now, in the midst of a medical emergency, having spent 2 days in the ER, and finally being released because health insurance won't cover anybody but my primary care physician for this specific procedure...my primary care physician...Valery fucking Shulman. This should honestly be criminal that a medical group like this be allowed to operate in a PPO or HMO insurance family. If this review prevents even one person from opting into the medical practice of Valery Shulman I might feel a bit of vindication from this ordeal. Please do yourself a favor and FIND ANY OTHER PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN. Find a Target employee or a stock photo of a puppy with a stethoscope. Literally anything other than Valery Shulman. Please. I've been terrible pain I went to this quacks office to ask for something to help with my pain he didn't even have the courtesy to see me for 5 minutes! I told him I was suffocating on my saliva and if he could at least give me something for that, he gave me antibiotics! I went downstairs to the pharmacy in the same office building and asked the pharmacist if this would help me, the pharmacist shook his head no I'm always having a hard time with this Dr prescribing my meds on time and this quack seems to be in an increasingly mental fog so I asked the pharmacist if he was going senile and he nodded yes and said check out his Yelp review s. Terrible doctors office. When you get an appointment make sure to get there 2 hours after the actual time they schedule you for because that's when they'll actually take you. Dr. Shulman will rush through your appointment and not really evaluate what's actually wrong with you and then prescribe medicine that never really helps. Please, don't just leave a review here. Call your insurance and file a complaint. This place needs to be shut down!!! Awful place, very unprofessional stuff. The nurse taking my blood was very rude because I was afraid of needles. Doctor never called me back with my blood test results. I called several times but they never called me back. Girl working front desk said: when results are good we usually don't call back". Turns out I needed to get MRI which no one told me about until I got papers in mail. I called again and asked to talk to the doctor because I didn't even know what MRI was. To which receptionist gave me a brilliant answer: you can google it. After that I was done with this clinic. But after about a year they left me a voicemail that they confirm my request to see a gynecologist. The problem is that i never requested it so, I guess, they just wanted to get the money from my insurance. I called my insurance and filed a complaint. And changed the doctor, of course. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Shulman for nearly two years and I have never had more confidence in a general practitioner. He devotes as much time as is needed to make sure I get the best care. I recently had an appointment as I was suffering from tinnitus and what appeared to be allergies. He was happy to refer me to a specialist but also asked if I was taking herbs, as he thought this could be the possible cause. I stopped taking herbs and both conditions are slowly but surely clearing up. Dr Shulman is obviously not only a highly competent doctor, but also someone who is passionate enough about what he does to want to cover the entire spectrum of healing. . I was just about to post this review when I noticed 4 one star reviews on here, vilifying Dr Shulman's staff. I am, quite honestly, stunned, and also a little suspicious that all these people would give such a similar review. Patterns like this are usually the work of a disgruntled ex-employee. One particular comment stands out as questionable - "I was informed this office has many complaints". Who on earth could have told this person that and where could all these complaints have been made? It just doesn't make sense. However, the criticism that is clearly ridiculous is that no one at this practice speaks English, and then the reviewer goes on to say that these same people had 'thick Russian accents'. How can they have an accent if they can't speak English? Full marks for stupidity, whoever wrote that. For the record, I have found the service the staff give to be exemplary. They return calls and relay messages efficiently, and also telephone patients as soon as they get approvals, which I'd never heard of before, never mind experienced. All the staff are completely fluent and yes, I have had to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment, but that's because Dr Shulman doesn't pack his waiting room with as many patients as he can squeeze in. Dr. Shulman squeezed me in between his appointments just to make sure I get that my bronchitis gets treated as soon as possible. This so-called "Doctor" has wasted EIGHT years of my life. For 8 years under the care of V. Shulman I developed a number of systemic diseases due to the absence of proper diagnoses, the absence of procedures, absence of proper blood test, etc. in my case. In 2013, I had very bad skin swelling. Without treatment, the disease my body starts developing can lead to death in a short amount of time. While I was in a very bad condition V. Shulman said: "You ate something", "It's an allergy", "You're still young", "You look good." I demanded that he send me to an appropriate specialist. After countless wrong referrals from Shulman's office, more times was wasted without any diagnoses. Thankfully, I was eventually able to get a doctor who agreed to do Shulman's job. Finally, ANOTHER doctor correctly diagnosed and correctly treated my illness. My patience with the doctor completely came to an end when I recently began to explain to Dr. Shulman my symptoms which included passing out several times, a general dizziness and 42 more symptoms. Since I didn't call 911 and was helped by relatives to return my consciousness in a couple of minutes, V. Shulman accused me of lying. For the records, I'm receiving disability confirmed by numbers of CA Medical Board Certified doctors (V. Shulman is NOT Board Certified and can't be considered an expert). Shulman's comments "look good equals feel good" doesn't apply to my case.THAT WAS TOO MUCH! That episode 100% can question V. Shulman' professional ethics and mental stage. Shulman's patients' lab results have always been "excellent", even if some elements are out of range. When you start asking what type of test he plans to set up for your specific symptoms, chances are you'll find NO answers. He is testing the basic panel ONLY. Why? 1. He does not know what to check. 2. He does not know how to read your result and rely on comments from the laboratory (which is general, not individual !!!) 3. If some items are out of range, the doctor still considers your result "EXCELLENT" because the doctor has ZERO knowledge what, for example, high levels of bad cholesterol with low glucose level are sighs for. 4. If you have out of range elements in your blood test result, a normal doctor should schedule an additional ( more detailed) test to see what is wrong.This is not the case with V. Shulman. He doesn't care about his patients at all! V. Shulman cannot provide any proper treatment because of a lack of knowledge. If you need help to improve your health, ( not aggravate your health) DO NOT GO to his office. If you experience same mistreatments, you should notify your insurance ( it can be made confidentially if you wish) by simply calling and letting them know what is going on in doctor V. Came to this medical office to seek a primary doctor and the serve was beyond disappointing. The receptionist is very rude and no help at all. The office manager is extremely rude, she does not let you speak and demands to be heard. I didn't even get to see the doctor..
