Mama's Kitchen - Not much to look at outside but great eating inside. My kind of place.

Use these and connect people!!! Some really smart ideas: water with a side of lemon juice - this is genius because the lemon mixes immediately into your water! Straws on the table (i know some advocate against the use, and I actually hardly ever use a straw) numbered tables Ok what I ordered: They have a nice grouping of omelets but each one had something I wanted and something I didn't. So I made my own, and it was no problem. Beef fajitas(came with sauted peppers and onions- which I didn'tknow about, nice surprise) spinach, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms What I got Pretty similar BUT they added !!cheese! Which is usually a great surprise but not today (and not for any of those lactose intolerant people) also my hashbrowns (another thing I don't usually eat) could have been more crispy. All in all a good experience and we will definitely come back :)

On their menu, you'll find various sandwiches, salads, steaks, seafood, fried foods and they're open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you come for lunch, try their buffet. On a Tuesday when I visited, the buffet offered 3 meats: pot pie, Salisbury steak and chicken fried steak, green beans, fried okra, scalloped grilled potatoes, corn, lima beans, mashed potatoes, yeast rolls and jalapeño corn bread. Also they had a salad bar and a pot containing some pretty watery vegetable soup. My favs were chicken fried steak, Salisbury steak, sliced potatoes and yeast rolls. Price for lunch buffet is 8.95 (for 1 trip), 9.95 (unlimited trips to buffet line). Even though I went up 3 or 4 different times, they only charged me 8.95.

Bottom line, plenty of spaces. Side note, they're not all spaced the way you might expect. Walking in, the place was hopping. Much more crowded than the former business. Pretty good sized menu. They serve you the red salsa, but you can ask for the green. The kind that gives you heart burn for hours. Worth it. Both salsa were great, chips were fresh. We ordered house margaritas, and those were also very good. Pricing was average. For food we ordered the parrillada El Malecon. Mixed beef and chicken, with ribs and quail. Here's where things went a little rough. We ordered the "for two" but the entire was still in a " for one" portion. 3 pieces of steak, 3 chicken, one quail 2 rib portions. Definitely seemed off. The manager came by, and we discussed. On THEIR menu, the double portion is only 4 strips of steak, 4 of chicken, still only one quail, and two rib portions. The reasoning we were given is that people don't seem to like the quail. First, nothing about this is "for two." For 45.99 this isn't it. The chicken and beef were good, the quail was not seasoned well unfortunately, and the ribs were over sauced with a cheap syrupy sauce. Overall food was a no. But here's where I also have to give credit. They stuck with their defense, and while we discussed someone brought a plate of chicken and beef. While we weren't going to ask for anything, we do appreciate their thoughtfulness and speedy resolution. Maybe they knew it was coming , or maybe they just jumped ahead to make it work. Either way, we appreciated that effort. Overall, service was great, food was 50/50. Wouldn't do the parrilladas again, but would try other menu items.

If you like barbecue, bacon and sausage, then I suggest you try them Cowboy hotdog it's made with beef, smoked bacon, cheese sauce, crispy onion, bits, and barbecue sauce. One thing I like about this restaurant they bring food out piping hot! If you are at the bar say hello to John he was excellent. I also tried the Chili Idol hotdog and it reminded me of being a kid and getting a chili cheese dog! The freshly chopped onions topped it off! I am pleased with my dogs and @ 1/2 off on Wednesday it was awesome! This is a good place for groups to hangout and sample different beers and try different shareable's. I recommend this place. GN3

Menu was in a box after I entered through the doors. Ordered at the counter, took a table number, and found a seat at the side. Food was served to my table pretty quickly. Service staff were very friendly. My Chili Idol was very good. I loved everything about the Chili Idol - from the beef dog, to the chili, and to the bun. Everything was cooked well and the bun was perfect. Also got the Chili Cheese, but changed it to fries instead of tater tots. The seasoning on the fries were plenty, but went well with the side of cheese given. Parking is plenty here. Happy Hour all day at the bar!
