My Name is Fred and Joyce Jones with our eldest Daughter Shay we met up there. We came into this nice and cozy restaurant beautifully decor really intimate. So the Owners A Daughter and Mother operation we met Ms. Mandy one of the daughters and their Mother Ms. Willowmena they gave us such a down home Welcome and the hospitality was second to none. As far as the food it's was incredible true to its roots true down home cooking . We told the ladies we would be back. P.S. try the Southern style Fried Fish and the Mac and Cheese and those Damn Collard Greens were to die for those Smothered Pork Chops were out of sight we couldn't eat all of our food. Please give Cassy Kitchen a try you want be disappointed ENJOY

There were 2 servers that were assisting with the table. Both very nice and got our orders correct. I had to split the bill in a weird way and they followed instructions well. The restaurant is always nice and clean including the restroom. The restaurant has a lunch option for 2 items for $25. What a steal! I got the wedge salad because I love the smothered blue cheese dressing. I got the mahi mahi tacos. Tacos were a good lighter choice. I didn't realize that it came with fries. All delicious options and so many options for even the pickiest eaters. Always a good choice for a nicer lunch.

Service: not great, we had a manager start off as our server but she was awkward in a "not socially aware" way (ex. she kept saying our server had to use the bathroom, even when our server came to the the table and looked so embarrassed; she also told me my non-alcoholic drink order would not taste good without knowing it's what I drink at home), rushed us (every time she said she would give us a moment she'd come RIGHT back to the table within seconds) Our actual server started off rocky as well, perhaps wasn't having a good day and she was visibly annoyed with the manager. She was short and blank with us until she realized we're very nice lol and by the end, her tone and energy had completely shifted for the better. The foreign object: about 2/3 of the way through the meal, I bit into a small piece of blue plastic. Did not know if it was in the fish or the mac and cheese, but I was devastated because I was almost finished eating but couldn't due to paranoia. Our server handled it swiftly and the manager came and let us know it was take off the bill and offered free dessert. Overall, not bad and the food was good enough to where I would go back and give them another try in the future.

I bring family and friends here all the time along with business partners. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, Texas. You will experience the best food and the best service here every single time! Today was the first time I decided to get some food to go. Bradley was an absolute professional. While I was leaving, Johnny Carrabba came out and talked to me for a second. What a nice guy. Full of natural charisma. Reminds me of an old wise guy from casino or Goodfellas. We had a great conversation. I told him how my grandmother was born in Bryan Texas in 1927. He told me about his family that migrated there in 1905. He also mentioned his family had a store on Canal Street. I had no idea. An exceptional person, a legend in the restaurant industry here in Houston, Texas. It was great to meet you today Johnny. Thank you for your professionalism and hospitality and also thank you for serving some of the best food in Houston, Texas! Food: as you can see from all my pictures of the food is simply amazing. The best cornbread in the world. The best pot roast. The best sticky ribs. The best desserts. Everything here is phenomenal. Lunch dinner brunch you cannot go wrong. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Bradley and Johnny today I've been coming to this location for years and I will continue to come and support this restaurant.

The place is cozy in size similar to Andy's Home Cafe and there is a bar for solo diners to eat at. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is a steam table that serves a lunch special with multiple options. It is not manned all the time because customers may want to order from the menu instead. The prices here are cheap, even less than Frank's or Telwink nearby. My catfish and eggs were $11.99 and it was only $1.50 to add an extra egg. The catfish may have been swai though given how mild it was, but the portions were comparable to the diner competitors. You also have to season the eggs and grits yourself like at other diners. As I was eating, customers started strolling in for lunch. The bad thing about the place is the steep entrance and exit to the parking lot. If you have a low car like mine, you'll definite scrape the bottom no matter what angle you take. So I don't think I will ever return despite the food value here.

It's worth making the trip now, not later. The menu is exceptionally well-curated, hitting that sweet spot of what Houston does best. comfort, creativity, and just enough flair to keep things interesting. The space matches the vibe: modern and minimalist with a subtle Chip-and-Joanna-Gaines touch. The drink menu is just as thoughtful. Even the well spirits are solid. We kicked things off with the deviled eggs topped with maple pork belly, easily some of the creamiest I've ever had. Do not split an order. Everyone at the table should get their own. For the entrée, I went with the Sunday enchiladas made with Killen's famous brisket. Smoke, salt, pepper and exactly what you want from a dish like this. It typically comes with Mexican rice and refried beans, but the rice was running behind during my visit, so I swapped in scrambled eggs (it was brunch) no complaints. This is my first updated review on Yelp and not for the better. Since it was closing, my close friends and I wanted to go back one last time, especially for the peach bread pudding. One of our friends in the group hasn't been here before but was excited and to celebrate her birthday later since we were all out of town last weekend. This is going to close next Sunday and turn in to a gas station, which we literally don't need in this corner location of Heights Blvd and Washington Ave. I made a reservation while I was in Boston just in case. Our friend had called 2 weeks ago, and they told her there wasn't anything open because they were closed Sundays. They're not closed Sundays according to their hours of operation online. Weird. Everything started fine. Our server checked on us regularly. She couldn't answer any questions about the menu. She said she was new and didn't know it. Why would you hire a server who doesn't know the menu on the last week of service? That doesn't make sense. She repeatedly said that the whole time like how people say they couldn't do something because they were short staffed. The chicken fried chicken and chicken pot pie were solid. That was the entrees we chose, and some of us ordered a chicken pot pie to go. Apparently, we ordered the last few ones. Interesting because they just opened at 11 am, and we ordered to go right after the deviled egg appetizers, 15 minutes from opening. She tried to close out our tickets without asking about dessert. We had to tell her we weren't finished and wanted to order dessert. When it got to the dessert, we wanted the peach bread pudding and Texas sheet cake. They didn't have the cake, so we said ice cream. We thought it would pair well with the bread pudding. Then she said she doesn't know the ice cream flavors since she's new. So, she checked and came back to tell us there was no ice cream. Who knows if there were other desserts at this point. So, we said just the peach bread pudding. We got it, and when she placed it on the table, it didn't really have the tres leches sauce and absolutely NO PEACHES. Mind you, I've been here 4 times before and recommend this dessert to everyone. One of the most memorable peach bread puddings in Houston. Today just shattered that image. When the server asked if everything was ok, I said the dessert was missing the peaches. We hadn't even started eating it. She said she'd ask the kitchen. Nothing happened. We cut into the bread pudding thinking there might be some sliced peaches baked within, and the edge of the container was hot, but then one of our friends said the bread pudding itself was cold. It was cold. I remember it being warm with brulee'd peaches on top. The table next to us also ordered the same dessert, and they had peaches on top. Disappointing. She said the kitchen could make us some peaches. We said no. It's too late. The texture was gluttonous without the sauce and peaches. At the end of our meal, we all agreed it was a let down. Now we need a redemption brunch. Maybe it's for the best they're closing this Heights location.
