I've only been here once -- Sunday of Memorial Day weekend -- and unfortunately it wasn't the best experience. First off, by the time we arrived around 10am, they only had a few donuts left. Honestly, I wouldn't necessarily count that against them because it may just be a sign that the donuts are really popular. They were completely sold out by 10:30, though, so definitely come early if donuts are your priority. We were lucky enough to grab a strawberry donut and a half dozen munchies, and the donuts themselves were GREAT! I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on an Asiago bagel. The flavors were good, but the bagel was a little too crunchy which made it difficult to eat. If I went again, I'd probably either get the Asiago bagel with cream cheese or stick to a plain bagel for the sandwich. My daughter ordered the bacon, lettuce, and pimento cheese biscuit, but they were out of biscuits so she switched to a bagel instead. Unfortunately, they forgot the bacon entirely, which was pretty disappointing since that's a major part of the sandwich. My other daughter ordered the Baja breakfast burrito with salsa on the side, but the salsa was put directly on the burrito. To their credit, they did offer to remake it, but we had already been waiting about 20 minutes so we decided to just keep it. Oddly, we still had to wait another 7 minutes after that for our food. Overall, the donuts were excellent, but between the long wait, several order issues, and limited availability, it just wasn't a place I'd personally go back to. read more

These donuts were outstanding! I had the blueberry cake, the strawberry frosted, and the Boston creme (the others were my friend's). The blueberry cake was perfectly glazed and had a wonderful blueberry flavor. The yeast donuts were so soft and puffy. The strawberry frosting tasted like real strawberry and the Boston creme was filled the perfect amount. The inside is nice, though there isn't a great place to form a line. There's lots of seating both inside and outside. The service was quick and it's nice that you can see all the donuts while ordering. This place has an off morning as their staff got slammed right after we ordered. They left off the turkey on my bagel, ran out of cups for hot drinks so they couldn't sell it to my friend and then forgot the cold drink she'd ordered instead. That said, I think this was a one off and the food was still good while staff really tried to remain attentive and helpful amidst the chaos. The everything bagel was good with cream cheese and turkey. I had one of my friend's donut bites and I'm sure the donuts were delicious (whole one). When going out boating with some friends, I grabbed some amazing breakfast items from Donut Inn to share. We split two different breakfast sandwiches on bagels (warm, delicious!) and a dozen donuts of so many fun flavors. Went here for breakfast and they are out of everything at 11am. So then I I ordered a blt on white bread and they put it in a wrap instead and an egg and cheese bagel and they put bacon on it. To make it quick and simple, Donut inn has the best donuts in town, they delicious, fresh and just a few minutes from the beach! Donut inn is just a few minutes from Wrightsville beach and has a wide selection of donuts to choose from, my favorite so far are the Long Johns (which are huge) and the powdered jelly donut. They are super soft, loading with fillings and are overall some really great donuts. They can get pretty busy, but the line moves pretty quickly. They also have options for coffee, bagels, and some outdoor seating as well. There is limited seating and the inside fills up pretty quickly depending on what time you get there so plan accordingly. read more

It's been a little over a week since we had these donuts and I still cannot stop thinking about the strawberry frosted. It had the lightest, most decadent flavor of strawberry I've ever tasted. The apple fritters were HUGE. Those were a big hit in our group. The maple was delicious (I knew it would be!). Another surprise was the chocolate Bavarian filled donuts - they know how to load a donut. Some places skimp so much in the filling, but not this place! I stopped here while visiting Wilmington. It was on my way and I love checking out local donut spots when traveling. So it worked out perfectly. Dangerously good! Be prepared to wait in line because this place is a gem. We visited both locations and both were packed, however, the lines move quickly so stick it out! We tried the glazed, glazed croissants (hello cronut!), chocolate frosted with sprinkles, cinnamon and coffee roll (not pictured). We came back a day later and got the exact same thing, it was -that- good. The donuts are light, yeasty and do not taste of oil at all. The glaze is thin and not overly sweet and pairs perfectly with your beverage of choice. They also offer donut holes of all sorts for .30 each if you just want to try a few to see what you like before buying more. Great place to take the family for a special treat. I ordered the strawberry and chocolate sprinkles for my kid, apple fritter and black raspberry for my husband and the sugar rise and old fashion for me. The Donut Inn is a local eatery in a strip mall in the Mayfaire area, close to Wrightsville Beach for those that care. In the few times I've been there (during COVID-19 pandemic) the staff have been extremely helpful and polite despite the stupid clientele they have to deal with. They literally made a sign explaining why they are short-staffed, lack maximum capacity inside and with those factors there's going to be a longer wait for your food. Parking is limited especially on weekends. There's a handful of tables and chairs inside and additional seating outside in a semi-private patio. The donuts are big and fluffy, some with a cakey texture which I love - bread & pastry girl - not like Britt's aka greasy, limp and take like oil from the fryer. Donut Inn has a baker that know what they're doing! Aside from the dozen or more regular donuts ranging from classic glazed to rocky road, they always a donut-of-the-day special and seasonal donuts to choose from. As for the bagels and food, sorry I can't tell you much other than they have eggs, cheese and all the meats to make your own breakfast/brunch sandwiches. Choices of different coffee blends and roasts, they are ok nothing to brag about. They also have smoothies and other drink concoctions but again, never had it so I can speak to that. I don't leave many reviews but wanted to leave one for The Donut Inn. It is absolutely amazing! The donuts are some of my favorites, they are SO tasty! The service is wonderful, everyone here is so kind and helpful. We got the donuts and some breakfast sandwiches; I got the Baja Beach Burrito which was amazing, and my other half got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit which was huge!! It is extremely clean in here and has a wonderful ambiance. I highly recommend this donut place!!! This place was so cute! Tell them it's your first visit and you'll get a free donut! We choose to go here because of the great reviews and story behind the shop. We love the dedication to customer care, and the personal touch to the shop. There were cute plants everywhere, adorable decor pieces and delicious fooood. The breakfast items were so amazing. Fresh and savory and amazingly cooked. The doubts were great too! We visited twice. The first time it was slow, and they made my drink amazingly (an earl grey latte) and the second time they were busy and messed it up a bit but it was still ok. These donuts are worth it! Make sure to go early when they open because a lot of flavors will sell out quickly. We went once after 12pm and there wasn't much to choose from.
