My review is a bit overdue but it's definitely worth the read. We rescued 2 pups last year who had some earlier trauma. At first, we tried the traditional obedience training for them to learn the basics, but they were both so overly excited and timid during the training that it didn't work. We took a break to let them settle in and then began our search for a new training program. One day, I was at HapE dog grooming waiting to get my pups in for their appointments when another dog came into the store and my pups started the whole barking and lunging routine. Quietly, the other dog calmly sat next to her owner as I was full of apologies to her for my pup's behavior; she raved about Doug Parker's training program. The way she explained it was that she hired this dog whisperer guru, Doug who has a unique approach that is really hard to explain but trust me it works. It will be the best money you've ever spent. I went home, looked him up, read every word on his website, watched his videos, and checked out all of the glowing reviews on yelp. When I called Doug, he really took the time to understand what was going on with my dogs and explain his approach. Doug told me his approach is simple. It just takes patience. He told me I already have the tools to make this work, he just has to show me how and then my husband and I will do drills with the pups throughout the day for the next X # of weeks. I knew that I'd be spending the next 15+ years with these pups and I wanted the best possible relationship with them, so I was willing to put in the work to make that happen. Doug came out to the house for the first visit and spent several hours teaching us how the program works and practicing the drills. He truly has a deep passion for teaching pet owners to be leaders so that we can have great relationships with our dogs. He teaches owners everything he knows so that we can be great leaders and our dogs are happy. My chihuahua was dealing with some previous trauma in his life before we adopted him and was really high strung and relentless with his barking and growling. Doug was just as relentless in his patience in working with him to get him to relax. The basic idea behind the training is to develop a relationship with the dogs (this involves holding their eye contact) to the point where they feel relaxed enough to submit. There are all kinds of "tells" the dog will communicate during this process from looking to the right, left, center, sniffing, scratching, yawning etc.. As a leader, you need to read these tells and learn that is the dog's behavior telling you what he/she needs. Stop yourself from creating a narrative and listen to what the dog needs. The dogs' needs are already pre-programmed in by nature. When you can get the dog to be so relaxed, they are at a lower energy level to learn what you want from them. Too often, owners try to train their dogs when they are at their high wild animal levels and that is setting the owners and the dogs up for failure. They can't learn when they are in that state. So first, you need to get your dog relaxed and trust you to lead them. It's also very important that everyone in the house is following a consistent training program or else the dog/s get confused, and the process takes longer. It's hard to put this program into words. You must experience it, practice the drills and then one day the magic happens, and you think he switched your dog because it's not the wild animal out of control excited dog that it used to be. It's relaxed, healthy wet nose, wet eyes and well behaved. Doug is the most kind and patient man I've ever meet. He truly has a deep understanding and passion for helping dogs and owners develop solid everlasting relationships. He definitely has perfected the art of communicating with dogs and it's fascinating to see his training in action. I highly recommend Doug.

Daug is the dog wisperer, for sure. With his training methods he reversed a quite concerning aggressive behavior in our dog. We completed the training sessions and our sweet boy is relaxed and nice at all times now. Even when previous triggers are in his environment. He is obedient, too, something we couldn't achieve before Daug. We are relieved and confident, that we now know how to address any potential issue. Patience is the foundation of Daug's methodology. He is observant and impressively intuitive . He has utmost respect for nature and the dogs' well-been is paramount for him. Patience, patience, more patience and variations in the tone of the voice and its level, are Daug's main tools. After every training session, not only our dog, but we too felt calm and relaxed. Watching Daug train was as watching a magician at work. We are impressed with the results of Daug's methodology and training sessions, and they exceeded our expectations. We noticed significant positive changes after only one session. Not only Daug trained our energetic Golden doodle, but he educated us and provided us with tools we've been using with great results. He makes sure that we know we can call him with any potential questions or concerns, even after the training end. We cannot recommend Daug warmly enough. We know that many dog owners will benefit from his help. As I mentioned in a previous review, we felt lost prior to connecting with Daug. Life as dog owners is so less stressful now. Daug is the real deal. He is understanding and kind, and respects his clients. We count ourselves fortunate to have met him.

We couldn't even have them stay in the same room together. Now they're best buddy's :-)

Doug is amazing. I highly recommend him to anyone whether they have a puppy, a rescue, an adult dog, or any type of situation. He helps you as the owner realize that your dog wants a strong leader, and in showing your dog that you are a strong leader, you can fix any issue. Doug is patient and kind, he stayed an extra TWO HOURS with us and our dog to help us as much as possible. He charges per session, not hour, so he did not have to do that at all, he did that out of kindness. If you want someone who will help you fix any behavioral issue or introduction or anything, I recommend Doug. He doesn't not use treats, or toys, only energy and body movements. He is kind to the animals and respects them. Highly highly recommend. We rescued our dog about two days ago, he was obviously jumpy and nervous, and had a bad habit of running through doors and not paying attention. After just one hour with Doug, here is a picture of him laying by the door that he refused to let anyone go through before him, and with consistency he is doing even better. Mind you, the side door was completely open and he was aware of that.

Doug Parker is masterful. I have to admit that I was skeptical and thought what he wanted me to do was hokie as my dog has always been stubborn. Turns out my hubby and I were the problem and once we accepted and learned Doug's training our dogs became followers and we became leaders. They are calm and the amount of barking has gone from a 10 everyday to a 1 everyday and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Doug we really appreciate you.

I have had multiple dogs and she's the only one I've ever felt the need to get help training with, so she's a challenge. Her behavior isn't perfect, but she's made a ton of progress and is completely manageable now. She's still getting better but even if this is was all the improvement she made I would honestly be totally content with the results. Additionally, their prices are really reasonable compared to other places. My recommendation to get the best bang for your buck is to do the 3 week training program at their facility while coordinating with an extended vacation you might be planning. Their price is in the same ballpark as an upscale boarding house, except you get the huge benefit of the training and attention for the pooch! The team is also very personable and flexible, being very gracious with their schedule when I needed some follow up training sessions to make sure I was reenforcing the training properly. I also always was left feeling secure that these guys are dog lovers and my precious gal was in caring hands when I was out of town. All in all, I sincerely was very happy with my experience and have already recommended them to several of my friends.

Stephy is absolutely amazing at what she does. She's incredibly knowledgeable in her field and made the entire experience both fun and educational. Over the course of six weeks, we saw such a positive transformation in our puppy, Moose. The group class was small and intimate, which made it easy for both of us to be involved in the training process. What we really appreciated is that Stephy wasn't just training our puppy she was also teaching us about puppy behavior, communication, and how to be better dog parents. She was so patient with us (and Moose!) every step of the way. Moose genuinely looked forward to going to class every week, which says a lot. Thank you so much, Stephy, for everything. You've helped us lay the foundation for a well-behaved, happy pup, and we couldn't be more grateful!

I did a lot of research on Yelp, Google +, and just simple google searches. From the numerous dog trainers I've spoke with, I was happy to have reached them. Firstly, I checked Sit Means Sit for obedience, but the trainers are unfortunately bound by contract to only assist people in their assigned area. This means the highly rated Summerlin Sit Means Sit training is only available for the Summerlin community. I then called various other trainers who claimed that training would cost hundreds of dollars and weeks of training with the trainer. Luckily, after a few weeks after I sent ACT an email, I finally got a reply from Carol, the owner. I then struggled to get in contact again with ACT with several phone calls, but eventually I received a call from Kathy, the dog trainer. I set up an appointment with Kathy the very same day she called and it was money best spent. Kathy told me that she would only be available for 1.5 hrs, but ended up helping my friend and I for 2.5 hours before leaving. We worked on basic obedience which had absolutely no BS at all. Her lesson was extremely informative and she had a tremendous amount of patience with my dog and my friend's dog. For both dogs, she only charged $80 for the first lesson and the best part is I just need to individually practice her training on a daily basis. I now feel a lot more confident in my dog and my training for my dog. In conclusion, you may have to work a while to get in touch with someone; however, if you get Kathy as a trainer, you will NOT be disappointed.

She took the proper time to introduce her dog with mine then let them play in the backyard together. She was great at handling him on the leash and really impressed me with the first impression. I decided to board with her for five days. I took advantage of the train and board so she could work on my dog's leash skills. After getting him back, he had improved with just four training sessions. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with her. Its a home and made me feel like she had the time and attention to give to my dog. He had ate his entire time he was there which made me feel like he was comfortable too. She was quickly available through phone calls and texts. Highly recommend.
