This place gets busy, but they are working hard to take care of everyone. We ordered two specialty sandwiches to go yesterday and we were out the door in 10 minutes. Ma Bailey (grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, feta, tomatoes, red onion, mixed green w/ caesar dressing in a wrap). Red Hatter (smoked turkey, provolone, roasted red peppers and pesto on toasted focaccia bread). Both were very, very good, but that Red Hatter was the winner! Used to love them. The sandwiches, especially focaccia have been going down hill now that they aren't wrapped (dry), and they close unexpectedly before 6 on a Friday night when they are supposed to be open until 7. Won't order again. read more

A deli is a deli, right? Wrong! This place has a nice variety of sandwiches and they all sound fantastic. I was just about to go for the classic Italian when I spotted they are grilled pastrami and corn beef with provolone. It did not disappoint, it was absolutely delicious. It's also a great little place to eat with an old school decor and reasonable prices. How do I know that it was a great sandwich? I was still thinking about it hours later. I don't get a Seneca Falls often but when I do I will definitely be back. read more

I add this context because this place brought back memories of what a great deli is, and I loved it! It was nearly impossible to pick a sandwich, I finally opted for a Cuban, but literally every sandwich that went by made me want to order a second sandwich. We stopped in for a bite when we arrived in Seneca Falls and luck brought us to Downtown Deli. Very cute and old fashioned decor, extensive deli menu and cute sandwich names. Food was made to order and very good. My husband had Uncle Billy's Cuban and I had the New York Deli Gyro. Both sandwiches were put up fast and were really delicious and large. Excellent food. Tons of options for sandwiches, subs, and wraps. I had the Red Hatter with a side of macaroni salad. It was so delicious.

Great food! I got the pastrami and roast beef with peppers & Cole slaw on rye. I highly recommend the pickles too!

The customer service was second to none. The girl waiting on me made my sandwich with lots of love and it showed in the first bite. I came in super close to closing and I ate inside. I didn't feel rushed. They have a great selection of chips and lots of sandwiches and toppings. They also have ice cream...I didn't have any but I did splurge on a caramel apple cookie. Yum. Great sandwiches! I got a Zuzus which is a hot panini sandwich with grilled eggplant, roasted red peppers, onions and garlic mayo on foccacia bread. I got pesto sauce instead of mayo. It was the tastiest sandwich I've had all day! (Never mind the fact that it's the only sandwich I've had today.) My friend got a half roasted turkey sandwich on pumpernickel bread with spicy mustard. They really load on the turkey! A whole sandwich is more like getting two sandwiches at this place. This is an excellent place to stop for lunch. First off it would be nice to know that a whole sandwich is really two full sandwiches. They cant tell a tiny little girl who just wants a regular sized sandwich that surprise your getting two full sized sandwiches fit for an army. Second I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich and much to my dismay they were microwaved. They looked pale, pathetic and unappetizing. The bacon was like chewing morsels of fat in my mouth. Like I might as well of gone to Wendy's if I wanted a quality chicken sandwich. My bag of sun chips also tasted stale and old. Would not recommend and will definitely not be returning. read more

I love the deli. It's one of our favorite places to go. The sandwiches are always delicious and the portions are reasonable for the price. If this review was solely based on food I would give them a 10 if I could. But tonight I walked out. I went in and waited. There was a customer ahead of me. I don't mind waiting if I'm acknowledged and told we will be with you in a minute. But nothing. There were 3 young girls there. Then one that had been behind the register asked the other two if they needed help. One young lady spoke up and said she could help with the current order or wait on me. She said something about having to go to the office. I walked out at that point. This isn't the first time I've had an unpleasant experience with the service there. Disappointing. Update 8/28 Went back in tonight and was completely ignored again. The same girl in the above review that went to the office straight up ignored me as well as the young man restocking tomatoes. This place keeps steadily going downhill. The service is shit. The staff is so inept, this past visit will be my families last visit, they messed up the entire order. The slogan here is "A half is like a whole" so we usually order 1/2 because they are large enough for us. We phoned in our order and picked it up about 20 minutes later. As I was being rung up I noticed and pointed out we wanted 1/2 sandwiches rather than whole. The inept worker attempted to dig the ingredients out of the whole sandwiches to make smaller ones!!! I stopped her, paid for the food I did not order or want and left...only to find the poorly assembled sandwiches were terrible. For $19 I felt raped and I WILL NEVER EVER RETURN. read more

Incredible and delicious. Gobble the sandwiches. They are all to die for. The owners pat and Anne are the kindest people I've ever met. They bend over backwards for our community and its gleaming and shiny and resembles the old world charm and hospitality we ALL look for. What's unsettling is the Italian side of the business is closing up shop. Like most of Fall Street aka the old village the Italian contingent is weeping in their espresso. Please go support this business and tell them I sent you. And be respectful. They have tried and invested their money into this gem. read more

If you're in Seneca Falls, this is in the middle of all the tourist-y things you'd be visiting. The food was alright and seemed fairly priced. It's a NY style deli, so be prepared to a quick demanding ordering process. Some of the sandwiches are named after It's a Wonderful Life characters - which was fun, except I've never seen the movie. But I guess the movie's town was based on Seneca Falls and there's a museum half a block away about the movie. Overall, clean and nice if you like subs and deli food. read more

The WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A DELI. I ordered in the morning at 9 for 10 sandwiches- and called to switch 1 sandwich, not only was the order ALL WRONG , but when I went to pick it up the girl said she " Repeated my order 5 times" I told her that makes no sense as I have a lunch with 10 people why would I get an order that was half- again she says I checked with you 5 times! Well - NO YOU DIDN'T. Not only that but she picked up each sandwich and the pickles fell out of 1 and she never replaced them . 65.00 later for sandwiches and macaroni/ potato salad and the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, I'll take my business to Sauders in Seneca Falls where the food is great and they treat you like your money matters! read more

Enjoyed lunch at The Downtown Deli last week while in town on business. We had about 40 minutes to get in, eat, and get out. We were able to do just that. This place is quick and efficient. They have TONS to choose from and are decently priced. I was a little thrown off by the sizes. I ordered the HALF and it was the size of a normal large sandwich. A coworker ordered the FULL and it was the size of 2 large sandwiches!!! The food was very good, though. The place is a bit small, but people didn't seem to linger...didn't get the feeling that seating was an issue. I would definitely suggest The Downtown Deli to anyone in the Seneca Falls area looking for a quick bite. read more

I went here for lunch twice during the week. First time I got a chicken cutlet sandwich which to my surprise was more of a chicken patty. That to me is an immediate turn-off as you never know what's in those or where they came from. In their defense the patty didn't appear to be compacted meat remains and was OK at best. The next day went back and got a toasted turkey club which was much better. Not the highest quality in cold-cuts but this place is OK in a pinch. read more

It's not like there's a competition for best deli in Seneca Falls. With art deco accents and bagels, this deli brings downtown charm and pride upstate. The sandwich and panini combinations are interesting and have cute Wonderful-Life-themed names. The salads, though, are a bit of a disappointment. read more

This deli serves wonderful sandwiches ! We had the Balboa- garlic bread with roast beef and cheese- my boys loved it! We also tried Tim's Folly- roast beef and turkey on rye. Stopped in for a late lunch while visiting the Seneca Falls attractions. A lot of the sandwiches are named after things from It's a Wonderful Life. Decent amount of vegetarian options. I got a panini with grilled eggplant in it (I forget the name) that was delicious. My friend got something with pesto in it that looked equally appetizing.
