Small Joe's Special sub with prosciutto, fresh mozarella, balsamic glaze, roasted red peppers
    Carole S.

Amazing subs! I've stopped by several times when in Canandaigua and unfortunately they were closed every time. Finally I was there when Casa Italiano was open. Their subs have great views & I now can agree. I did a takeout of a small and a large Joe's Special. The bread was very fresh with a generous amount of all ingredients. We added lettuce, tomato, onion to the sub as well. Absolutely delicious! When in Canandaigua, a must try. Do check store hours before you head there. They have several small tables to dine in. There is also a vast selection of Italian import/specialty products. Off street parking.

    Small Meat Lovers Pizza

Loved the pizza, I got a small 12" Meat lovers. (should have ordered a 6" personal size, but thought it was going to be tiny......it wouldn't have been but was glad to have leftovers to reheat from the 12" anyways!) Has a really nice little Italian deli, the subs looked phenomenal. Will definitely come back to try those. They use DiPaolo twist rolls (a regional Rochester bread bakery) you'll find alot of hamburger & BBQ places in the finger lakes use these rolls, with good reason because they are amazing. Counter service was excellent, grabbed a table inside the deli and she brought our pizzas right in to us. I would totally come back and try again. Great find for pizza in Canandaigua area.

My husband and I were visiting Other Half Brewing in East Bloomfield and wanted something to eat on our way home and chose this place in Canandaigua. One side is like an Italian deli while the other side is a pizza place. We wanted pizza so we ordered and asked for a thin crust. They had a few tables and we waited. The pizza came out and it had the wrong toppings (they had pepperoni instead of sausage). They apologized and made us another. They gave us plates and napkins and we ate it there. It was cheesy and thin crust like we wanted. Not much of an atmosphere but I could tell they do mostly takeout.

Great Buffalo chicken wrap! So flavorful and the perfect amount of spicy. Loved the store, had lots of cool imported items and a good deli menu.

Italian "Wedgie" - the perfect marriage between pizza and sub

Easily the best pizza in the area, always cooked perfectly and the crust is my favorite I've ever had. They'll make literally anything you ask for however you ask for it. The "wedgie" isn't even on the menu but I get it every time.

Extra thin, light on the sauce with fresh garlic cooked well done. Outstanding!

We started with the Ricotta appetizer (again). Amazing (again). First the menu changes- no longer options to create your own pasta. Second you no longer get the fresh Italian bread with garlic butter. Now you get hard, stale focaccia bread that's barely edible. Third, we ordered a special for summer vegetable pasta. There was lots of noodles- little sauce and fewer summer vegetables. The veggies included were heavy on canned olives & mushrooms. Yuck! Our waitress was new and trying hard. She was struggling The neighboring table was annoying. They wanted greens but not greens & beans. They were friends of the owner so he was summoned to help them. Obviously they required a higher degree of service. The owner scuttled off to their beck & call and chose not to check in with those of us annoyed by their demands. I was sad to see things have declined here.

We were seated in the middle of the crowded dining room around 1:30 that thinned out quite a bit during our brunch. Without a reservation you can't complain but we got bumped into a few times so it didn't make for a very relaxing experience. Our waitress was not very good. For the french toast she asked if I wanted a small or big stack. I didn't have glasses on or I might've noticed on the menu short=1, full=2. Using the same terminology or explaining would've been very helpful because when only one piece of toast arrived from my shorter "stack" I was very surprised. The mimosas were in small flute glasses which is way overpriced for the size. My husband's coffee was meant to have refills but we had to flag her down for that. She didn't actually bring us anything either, other wait staff brought the drinks and then the meals. The food was good, the ambience if you have the right seat is nice too. At the hostess station we overheard a phone call with someone requesting to be by the fireplace and now I see why. Will not return to this location when we're in town on a getaway this summer but might try the one in Pittsford or Penfield.

This visit came two days…read moreafter a similar visit to one of those golden arch restaurants in Farmington where I was disgusted by the condition of the restaurant and the inattentiveness of the staff who spent most of the time chatting with one another while debris and food waste remained piled on the floor. After a ten-minute wait at this "fast food" site, I was out the door for the last time! My faith in the future was at least partially restored when I visited Charlie's. While waiting for my order - taken by a cheerful and engaged worker - I observed the workflow in the restaurant and was astounded by the level of effort and competence that I saw in that short period. Although everyone remained busy taking care of the counters and tables, cleaning, tidying up and refilling dispensers, I noticed one young lady who had clearly mastered the art of multi-tasking. While moving from one end of the counter to another to take care of customers, she grabbed a cloth and wiped down the counters on her way. During a few moments of available time, a broom appeared in her hand and the floor was swept clean. As I was observing, I attempted to identify a manager or supervisor and could not do that. That suggests to me that the culture at Charlie Reidel's has evolved to a point where these dedicated employees take ownership of and pride in their jobs. They don't need managers or supervisors standing over their shoulders to force the work to be done. Oh, the food was delicious too.
