Without clearly marked parking spots, neighbor courteousness comes at the luck of the draw. + Peaceful ambience. Apart from cows, it's pretty quiet out there. - No service. Great place to stay on a budget trip to yellowstone. Perfect little cabin near the park, clean and has what you need. The biggest cons were that the wifi does not work really at all and wish there was a sponge to wash the dishes. You can hear cars passing by but did not bother us at all. My daughter and I stayed 7/8-7/11. The owners were very accomadating when I had a family emergency and were flexible with re-booking. The cabin we stayed in was cozy, clean, and only a short drive to the W. gate of Yellowstone. DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. I don't normally post reviews but the way my booking was handled by the owner, Mike, was shocking... I had planned a road trip from Texas to Canada and booked this place well in advance. But just a week before my trip, I was in a serious accident that required major surgery. I had to cancel everything. Every other hotel and lodge I booked showed compassion and worked with me, except for this one. The staff, especially someone named Kessen, were cold, rude, and completely dismissive when I explained my situation. When I finally reached Mike the owner, he flat out refused to refund me. His words? "You should have had travel insurance." No sympathy. Just greed. Then he had the nerve to complain to me about HIM losing a one-night booking. As if my medical trauma was a personal inconvenience to him... After I explained I was dealing with recovery and new medical bills, he argued that he "couldn't afford to lose my one-night payment" and angrily HUNG UP ON ME. This place isn't just unprofessional - it's owned and run by someone who clearly lacks basic human decency. If this is how they treat people in crisis, imagine how they'll treat you if anything goes wrong with your stay. Do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else. These people are heartless. And by the looks of the other reviews, this is how they treat everyone. Do NOT book Drift Lodge & Fly Shop and do NOT do business with these sick people. read more

Unfortunately, due to a death in the family, we never got to stay here. Our Nana was unexpectedly hospitalized and subsequently died two days before we were supposed to leave for our trip. We were heartbroken due to the death, and obviously needed to postpone our trip. When I called management to explain and ask for any kind of refund (they took a while to get ahold of by the way) I was told and this is a DIRECT quote, "you should have had travel insurance". Yep, I was told that while our Nana was dying in the hospital. They did offer to change reservation dates, but I've planned this trip over a year ago. I can't just switch the week. I asked to move it a few days back and was told no. We argued back and forth a little bit and the call ended with them telling me that if they could fill our room, we'd get refunded. Pissed about the insurance comment and hot from arguing, I decided it was best I said nothing else and agreed. Fast forward a few days, I checked availability online at their site and hotels.com- no vacancy. So, I email to check in and was told the room wasn't filled. I sent screenshots of what I was looking at and waited for a response. I was told to make sure I was checking the "all rooms" selection -as if I didn't double check that in the beginning. I said I did, and this is when it got rude. They sent me a photo of their schedule- the one only THEY can see- and this is what I was told. " As I mentioned in previous email, a guest staying last night was moved due to a disability. If the night is not colored cabin is open. I have no idea what you asked for. This issue is over and done." We lost our 87 year old Nana and this is the kind of response we got from a "family" run business. I'm $800 in thye hole and we lost the matriarch of our family in the same week. I understand there's policy, but the blatant rudeness is enough for me to fight tooth and nail to make sure nobody ever gets treated this way again. read more

The owners of The Drift Lodge have turned to a LIFE OF CRIME probably due to the hard times of Covid 19. Following is the technique they will use to double their income while cheating you. On the day of your expected arrival, The Drift Lodge will cancel your reservation unbeknownst to you. When you arrive they will state: 'I'm sorry, but we gave your room to another customer since you cancelled' Of course, their internal system will have you as 'pushing the cancel' button. There will be NO REFUND because you cancelled the day of the reservation. This will represent a 100% loss of your deposit. Of course, this also leaves you on the street with no room. This SCAM allows the management to double or triple their income for a single room each night. There is evidence to show they might have been honest hard working people prior to Covid 19. read more

We booked a fishing experience, through our lodging, and our family had a great afternoon. The fish don't always cooperate, but Pat and Garrett were excellent teachers and worked hard to put our family on the fish. This place is incredible. I was in need of new fishing gear since the stuff I got at target was garbage. These guys helped me restring my reel, set me up with some lures and gave me the details of a kids fishing spot. If the weather was better I would have gone on a day trip with them. They also have a HUGE selection of stuff to make your own lures for fly fishing. If you're in Island Park, ID or West Yellowstone, this is the place to stop! read more

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Drift Lodge over the past 3 days. The cabins are clean and adorable and smell so great from the cedar. The community fire pit and grill were a pleasant surprise and we enjoyed the company of the other guests! They have truly accommodated us. We appreciate their support for law enforcement! Our only complaint is about the water pressure in the shower, but everything else has been awesome! read more

Spacious cabins, good beds, kitchinette, microwave, cable TV, won't leave your credit card smoking & very friendly owners. Located about 30 mins from Yellowstone. WiFi not available in the cabins, only in and around the office area which closes around 7 PM. Our cabin could use some updates on bathroom (luke warm water for about 5 mins) and kitchen. The owners aquired the property just two years ago and are making improvements almost every day. Should you be interested in hunting and/or fishing; ask them, they are very knowlegableabout the subjects. read more

It was clean and had room for plenty to sleep. A fridge and small stove were nice to have. It's very close to the highway and you can hear trucks going by all night. It also felt as though the owners lived right next door. At almost all times there were teenagers and their dogs on site. The dogs (3 of them) were not all that friendly. They tried to get into my car and my cabin, but two of them barked at me and my 20-month old if we moved toward them. This is probably a great place to stay for a fly fishing trip as they sell lots of items and licenses on site, but not much of a spot for the family sight seeing. read more

I could not be happier with the Drift Lodge! We booked a cabin here while attending a wedding in West Yellowstone. It's a 20 minute, easy drive to town without the high end prices. Our two night stay was easily half the price (in the single bed duplex cabin) than what a hotel would have been in town, and there's so much more charm and personality here! There are large family cabins or one room duplex cabins; our single room is a "tiny house" style set up, and is brand new with clean, quality linens, and a hotel-quality Tempurpedic mattress. Every cabin has a porch with chairs. The scenery is beautiful, and with the exception of cars passing by, it's more or less silent. So peaceful! It's a family run company and they are warm, welcoming, and accommodating. We even got to spend time with their "welcoming committee" -- the family dogs frequently make the rounds to say hi to the guests if you're out on the porch. If you're looking at West Yellowstone, but want something with a little bit more Big Sky charm and at a much better price, the Drift Lodge is for you. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! We have stayed there 5 times, each time in a different cabin, both in the summer and winter. The cabins are cozy yet roomy, and had everything we needed stocked in the kitchen and bathroom. The prices are so much more reasonable then West Yellowstone! The owners are so friendly and helpful. They made us feel right at home. We were able to get our fishing licenses and bait right there at the lodge, as well as advice on where to fish and what to use (their fly shop is awesome)! We arrived late this last time, and I felt bad we had to wake them up. They were very accommodating even after the office had closed. We have stayed at a few places in West Yellowstone and this was SO MUCH BETTER! It's right off of Highway 20, and is really easy to find. Great place to stay year round! read more

We stayed at the Moose Bay lodges but also did some shopping at The Fly Shop and both were incredible! We spent the day on the nearly-empty lake and did a ton of fishing. We even ended up buying two fly fishing set-ups from Mike and he was kind enough to overnight one of them to us (and deliver it to the lodge!) so that we could fish all weekend. The cabins were super clean, well stocked and very comfortable. Mike was very nice and accommodating and gave us great tips for fishing. The lodge isn't too far from the park, and you get to feel secluded and comfortable without all the cost of the park lodging. Wifi worked great, satellite was provided in the cabins, but we had so much fun around Henry Lake that we didn't even need it. Recommended to anyone - we had three families in three cabins and couldn't have been happier! read more

This man was horrid to us. We were 4 states from home, lost, no cell service, no GPS, getting dark out. Tried and tried to call the Drift Lodge to get a call through for directions. Dropped calls on our end, ringing on his. (We didn't know it was ringing on his end; we kept calling, naturally, hoping a call would go through, as anyone would.) He was so angry that we tried to call him during his dinner that he frightened our son, who is handicapped. His hostility was unbelievable. Our son went into meltdown in the car, so we had to leave. (The man later refused a refund when I called him. Said he was only the manager and had no control over the refund situation. He then hung up on me. And this is not true. He is the owner.) Afterwards, during our trip, we met 4 other merchants in that little town who asked how our trip was. We related the story to them about our terrible experience with the owner of this lodge. 3 out of the 4 knew him or knew of him. Not one of the 3 who knew him had a positive thing to say. One, as soon as I said 'Drift Lodge', said, "Ohhh, no...THAT guy?!" She then told me about an incident when he had been ridiculously rude to her. The manager of the motel where we ended up late that night, said, "You're not the first person I've heard that from." The third, I won't repeat. After we returned home, a rental cabin owner who heard through the grapevine what had happened to us actually called us and offered us 2 free nights in Island Park because she felt so bad that something like that would happen in their town. So, Give your money to a kind merchant who will be polite when you walk through the door after being lost on the highway for an hour with no idea where you are. I even have a text on my phone from him that told me to "GET A CLUE..." about how to use a cell phone! If you look at the travel sites (which I failed to do), you will see some other negative reviews, some having to do with an unkind attitude. Or call the Island Park, Idaho, Chamber of Commerce for a lodging referral. Wish I could give zero stars. read more
