Great place! So much decor to look at, take the time to look at each piece and how it all has a story. It's big in here! If you need a place to chill and get some work done without it being super busy, this is the place to be. They also have a kid play area. The maple pecan plait was amazing! Love that it was warmed up. Only knocking down to 4/5 because on their website and from a friend I was told they had breakfast sandwiches and they didn't unfortunately at the time. This community coffeehouse is located in the South City neighborhood walking distance from "The Grand Strip" as I'd like to call it. Parking is limited to only street parking which is also near residential areas. I was meeting a friend there and it was his recommendation and near his home. He raved about it and upon entry, I understood why. When you walk up the stairs to this coffeehouse, it is like walking into a place of refuge. You are hit in the face immediately with the lovely smells of incense and you are greeted by every single worker there with "Welcome Home, Family!" You will not get those vibes at Starbucks or any other local coffee shop. I have yet to be greeted like that, ever! My friend is posted on the couches which let me tell you are SUPER DUPER comfy. I don't know what this place used to be, but it gave me furniture storeroom vibes but with the comfort of home, community, culture and belonging. I felt every piece of this coffeehouse spoke to anyone who entered. The art on the walls seemed carefully curated to create a vibe while creating an unspoken message. I felt safe here. I felt seen here. I fell deep into conversation with my friend and was checked on several times by the cook Big Ash to make sure I was good and if I needed anything. Rae, was working the register with a smile and Lil Ash, the barista helped me choose a great latte. I chose the Sunset Latte, a seasonal flavor of theirs after seeing my friend down his coffee. I also ordered a breakfast sandwich to go after getting whiffs of his meal. We talked for probably 2 hours before going our separate ways but Big Ash, the cook showed me around the coffeehouse first since it was my first time there. They have a library room with banned books and sections that pay homage to Asian and Latin culture as well. I felt like I was in a literal history book while indulging in lovely conversation over an iced latte for the summer day. I was so bummed to step outside. I felt like a vampire exposed to the sun. It was cozy inside with natural light and relaxing overhead and lamp lights inside. When I got home and ate my breakfast sandwich, it was like having a Denver omelet tucked beautifully between a butter croissant. The sauteed onions and bell peppers were just the right balance. Today was my first time here, and I will be back! This morning I got Angie's Famous Lemon Wet Cake. Very tender and moist (from lemon simple syrup poured over it). The lemon flavor was good but not overpowering, and overall it was really quite perfect. The plate underneath, which I saw after I devoured the cake, said "enjoy life". Love it. I also had the Lavender Dream Tea (hot) with whole milk - came in a verrrry cute cat cup! The tea was hot and sweet, but not deathly so. I thought it was great that they looped the teabag onto the handle so didn't disappear into the drink. Really interesting decor, beautiful artwork, paper lamps hanging from from the ceiling. Bathroom made me smile. Music was a little bit loud for taste (but that was me, I sat too close to the speaker), but it was really a nice place to be. Plenty of cozy places to sit, along with some tables. I think it's all the little touches, the cute cup, looped teabag, all the cool furniture, etc, makes this place special and someplace I would come back to. Oh, very clean and good service, too! The entryway is kind of "hidden", (no big neon sign!) and do watch your step going in and out, as the stairs are uneven.....,but do go! You will be happy that you did! read more

Wow, this coffee house is amazing! It is so big inside and the staff are inviting. I was able to walk around and get a tour since it was my first time there. When we walked in someone said welcome home and invited us inside. They have a mini library and a nice cozy spot where you can sit down, read, and drink whatever beverage that you get. there's art on the wall that the owner did. There's also a whole section dedicated to their church. The prices are extremely reasonable, and the drinks are made fresh and hot. Summer time they have an outside seating area that's enclosed that you can get two from the inside. They also have a small section for kids so they can go and play while you sit and enjoy your beverage. read more

Welcome Home! It's what you'll hear when you walk in the door to this comfy cozy coffee shop. Make yourself at home in their big comfy couches and grab a Lavender Dream Tea, come to eat, drink or simply just to chill it's a great space. Have the kiddos with you? They have a designated kid fun space too so all can enjoy their time. Take a moment to walk around and look at the art and photos of history, it's truly a sight to see! They also have a small library where you can curl up and read a book but please return it :) They've done an amazing job building a comfortable space that also has points of education. I love they had a give backs to nonprofits in the city, they have a collection bin for the Mother to Be Center! But I could go on and on.. NOW the food... They have a Breakfast and lunch menu. We went with their croissant breakfast sandwich. It has a fluffy egg, Gouda cheese, sautéed onions and peppers with bacon, YUM! They also have bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls and oatmeal. WOW!!! A true treasure on the south side. The signage and decor make everyone feel welcome. Yes, they offer a variety of hot & cold coffee and tea; as well as scrumptious breakfast, lunch, and brunch options. I enjoyed a very generous cup of potato soup, quite savory with big chunks of potatoes. But, the very best part...casual comfy seating...great place to curl up with a book, or relax with friends. They greet you ' Welcome Home' when your walk in, and it's exactly that. Warm, comfortable, plenty of spacious seating and A KIDS AREA! Their philanthropy and collabs w charities are posted all around - get a cup of coffee and also give back. The sweet potato latte is WORTH THE HYPE. And I had the best decaf coffee I've ever had, which makes sense when I saw the Red Bay Coffee (a NYC black owned brand) they use. It's obvious they're serious about using quality ingredients with all the health forward and social justice flyers around. I haven't even discussed what can only be described as lush art stations all around, paying homage to worldwide social issues. The ambience is wonderful! The food is outstanding! This is a coffee shop that is full of the past and the present in social justice. It should be supported and loved by the community. And the women there are outstandingly friendly and welcoming! My 10-year old granddaughter is asking questions about race relations. this cafe has a nice calm atmosphere (at least at 9am) and kind staff. there's plenty of decor and photos to browse while you wait and lots of comfy chairs. i got a breakfast sandwich with bacon which was delicious followed by a vanilla latte. everything is so well priced that it makes you want to tip that much more :) read more
