Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a place in STL that has actual food and coffee in the middle of the afternoon on the weekend? I will tell you, it's not easy. The man wants coffee, when all the coffee places are closed, and I want actual food, not carbs. This is how we stumbled up on Mountain House. He was happy with his order, so I want to tell you about mine. I was so pleasantly surprised with the generous portion of my sandwich and I did not realize my order came with chips too. I was even more pleasantly surprised to see MUD\WTR on the menu, I recently quit drinking caffeine, and of course I have seen a lot of ads for mushroom coffee, I very much appreciated the opportunity to order it here as opposed to having to buy it online to try it. This is a go to coffee spot when out and about STL. They have plenty of coffee options to choose from. My favorite seasonal coffee they offer right now is the Teddy bear latte. It is by far 10 out 10. The service is excellent. We originally ordered the cinnamon roll which looked great and then unfortunately found out that they were out of them, but we were able to order a delicious bacon and egg croissant sandwich instead. I was very pleased with the warm customer service in this could-have-been-awkward moment. The space felt calm and it resonated with those good community vibes that make you want to keep coming back. Would definitely order everything again (Churro iced latte with oat milk was bomb). The only thing I would critique is that the adorable shop dog poops in the grass right outside the cafe and we almost stepped in it both walking in and leaving. Watch your step when you go. Since I have a pathetically soft spot for croissants, I went for one stuffed with chocolate. Add a lavender mint tea and I was ready to be assumed into heaven! Looked for a late open coffee shop and decided to try this one cuz it was on the way home. So glad I picked this one rather than some of the ones that internet showed first. Cute cute place, small and cozy, made me order mugs to stay there instead of a pour and go like some places . Coffee with cardamon flavor rocks! The mugs we had were great, too bad I couldn't take one home for a souvenir. Also, there is a sweet dog there you have to pet. My caramel latte was perpetrated parts sweet, oat milk and coffee. We also ordered two pastries: the blackberry cobbler and this Kentucky Bundt cake. The pastries were buttery, sweet and filling. We're so glad this place opened in the neighborhood! The decor is so cute and cozy and it's such a nice location with lots of street parking available. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and accommodating and the coffee was great - my boyfriend even said it was the best cappuccino he's had in the STL area!!
