I try to hit at least one Irish pub in every city I visit, since they are getting quite ubiquitous. I went to the Dublin Pub on a Tuesday evening for dinner and the open mic night. The food was good for pub food. I had the classic boxty and found it tasty although a bit too salty. The garlic green beans were awesome. Good selection of beer and the bar tender knows how to pour a Guinness. The two musicians doing the open mic thing were good, one playing mostly modern American acoustic guitar and the other (whom I believe was Scott) playing some Irish tunes. I wished I had my guitar to get up and play a few. There were posters around the place for an upcoming CD release party for a celtic band featuring banjo, guitar, pipes and whistle. I liked that - they appear to support the traditional celtic music scene. I would love to check the place out when a band is playing. read more

Living as long as I have in Dayton, it is crazy I haven't visited this place sooner. It was always highly recommended and it always looked busy when driving by. So I am glad my friend recommended it for lunch today. My four stars are for atmosphere (we ate al fresco and it was quite comfortable, but the indoor pub was quite cozy as well), the portions (quite generous and flavorful), and the fantastic service (attentive, friendly, and accomodating). Overall this was a great experience, despite the fact that bar/pub food is not something I seek out. I would like to return and try some other dishes that caught my eye, and perhaps some of their more liquidy options on the alcoholy spectrum, for consideration of that final star. read more

The best Portobello Mushroom Burger I've had in Dayton. Aside from the food, service can be so so but that's only if they're ridiculously slammed. If you go Thursday through Saturday you're going to be waiting a while for seating. We learned that lesson a month ago. Pub atmosphere with great patio dining. Food portions large. Quality very good. Had Celtic band on stage when we visited. Unfortunately stage is small as is pub thus sound was loud making it hard to converse. Area dimly lit which made seeing menu a challenge for us older folks. Booths and chairs wooden. Little maneuver room between diners. Very limited parking in front and difficult to get out if parked on the side. Parking available across the street - hope it doesn't rain. Refurbishing and expanding pub will create more dining space in the future. Appears to be in an emerging popular area of town. Highly recommend a visit. Was told the Banana Bomb dessert is going away. Would suggest management keep it on the menu as it was awesome!!! read more

St. Party's is off the hook here. There is absolutely no reason to go anywhere else in Dayton, but the Pub. Cool environment, courteous staff, decent pub menu, good drinks. Great for a night out drinking with friends, or a lunch/dinner date. read more

Stopped by here on a Monday after work on a colleagues recommendation. I was told the seating is pieced together from an old church that existed in the same spot and the bar itself was flown in from Dublin, Ireland. Things to note: this place makes a good pour. If Guinness stout is what you're looking for, they do it right. They make you wait until the foam has settled and too off the glass with a clover. Bryce behind the bar let me know I was making a good choice with the dry rub pork wings. That was a huge understatement. They were crispy on the outside and juicy fall of the bone on the inside. One of the better appetizers I've ever eaten - suitable for one hungry guy or shared between 2-3 as a starter. I also had a brisket bacon sandwich on a pretzel bun with cheese fries. I certainly ate my calories for the week but it was worth it. The bartender was kind and welcoming and gave good insight on the menu, the Guinness was poured expertly, and the food was delicious. Next time I'm in town, I'll be sure to find a reason to stop by. This place is a must try for a good Irish pub experience in the heart of Dayton. Far exceeded my expectations. read more

I know this place is popular among locals due to it being Irish Themed and within the Oregon District. The ambience is nice and service is very good but I must say the food less than spectacular. I ordered the Blarney Stones and they were still partially frozen in the middle. I dismissed this and awaited my braised short ribs. When they finally arrived I was less than impressed, poor execution and flavor and the meat was very tough. Having been to Ireland and enjoying the Irish fare I think this place is missing the mark for Irish staple food. The food here is what you would find and prepared in the same manner as any knock off Irish Pub across the States. If you want a place to come and enjoy a drink in a quaint Irish atmosphere then this is your place, just skip the food. Happy hunting Yelpers. read more

Pretty good Irish restaurant in Dayton that I checked out with a large group of family on 9/17. The beer menu was solid. I didn't get my first choice, but not a huge issue. It looks like they go through quite a few craft kegs and that portion of the menu is printed regularly (maybe daily?) You should find something that you are looking for in that regard. I went with "The Ruck." It was featured and was listed as what they're known for--you will -NOT- be disappointed. It was a very, very good brisket that I wanted so much more of. They also offer the same brisket on a burger or chicken sandwich, and I might go that route if I'm ever back at The Dublin Pub. So solid beer menu and a good dinner....what went wrong for a 3 out of 5? The waiter kind of pulled a bait-and-switch on us. He stopped by at 6:40 and asked if anyone needed another drink (no one did) and he said, "Well, just to remind you, we're in 'Happy Hour' right now until 7, so let me know if I can get you anything before then." 6:57/58 comes and the whole table is ready for drinks. One of my friends asks, "Is it still in Happy Hour?" "Aww, sorry, it was only until 7p!" A few people got drinks anyways and as he left our table, I checked my Apple Watch (I think that's a fair, non-biased measurement of time...it says 6:59 then.) Mention Happy Hour and don't stop by for 20 minutes and then pull that when it's still before 7 anyways? Come on man Got seated and we were enjoying some sports on their large screen TV as we made conversation. At 6:30 the screen gets closed and a band gets to the final stages of setting up. We were seated pretty much front-and-center and when the band went on, it was next to impossible to talk, much less have an actual conversation. This is at 7-something on a Saturday. I love live music, even during dinner, but the rig these guys set-up was a bit overkill for an Irish restaurant at 7p on a Saturday night. We have visited and dined at this establishment numerous times and have always found the food and atmosphere to be excellent. That is the basis of the three star rating. We met another couple there today (2/4/2017) at 3:00 PM. Our waitress asked for our drink order. Two members of our party placed their order, asked for silverware, and as the two remaining were still looking at the menu, she walked away. Several minutes later she returned, minus the silverware and drinks. Finally we were able to place the drink orders. Once the waitress returned with the drinks, again we reminded her about the silverware. We then placed our food order and it was delivered timely. But still with no silverware to eat with. We asked the lady who brought the food for silverware and she rolled her eyes and walked away, but did bring two sets of silverware, instead of four. We actually ended up sharing the two sets between the four of us. Maybe they were overwhelmed, or inexperienced but there is no reason for that lack of inattentiveness and never a reason to roll your eyes for a reasonable service request. I can't get enough of this restaurant. The staff is great and friendly. The food is superb. They always have the best sports matches on the television. Their Guinness is the best I've had, hands-down. Whatever you do to that beer, keep it up! The McIntosh drink is delicious. A perfect birthday cheer! I've been to this restaurant countless times with family and friends, and it's such a great cheery atmosphere. Have yet to go when a live band is playing, but I can only imagine it would be hopping. Being next to the Oregon District is a plus. The food is pure happiness. The potatoes are a kind of delicious only the Irish could master. Their dishes are generous--leaving you with a distended stomach, but somehow you're still left wanting more. The only restaurant in the Dayton area to truly master the art of pub food. read more

By far one of my favorite and Go-to spots in Dayton. Staff is friendly and quick. The food is phenomenal, I always recommend for your first time going to try "The Ruck." It's a little messy of a sandwich but the flavor it totally worth it. Also the fluffy crisps they serve with their spinach beer dip are amazing and extremely addicting. I take all my out of town guests here for dinner and it never disappoints. If you're not into the pub scene this probably isn't for you on a Friday or Saturday night, they usually have talent play and sometimes charge a cover. Popped into The Dublin Pub after a movie at The Neon. Waited forever for the server as we heard other servers scurry by stating, "Where's Sarah? Where's Sarah?" If someone could have possibly stated that Sarah would be with us in a minute as they searched the premises for her or taken our drink orders or even acknowledged us, that would have been fantastic. However, no one said anything. Sarah arrived having memorized the entire beer selections, but didn't know much about the mixed drinks other than to give me a recommendation list. There was a live band outdoors, but it was packed. The inside was available for seating, so I sat there. The music was eighties and cranked up really loud, so it was impossible to hear anything being said. We determined not to order much due to the excessive wait time. We both tried the potato soup, which was wonderful. We had fried pickles for an appetizer. I wasn't that impressed with the pickles breading. It was kind of doughy. I would go again to give it a second chance, but if there were problems waiting again, I would find a different bar to grace with my presence. read more

EDIT: the owner contacted me and apologized as well and informed me that the woman who mistreated us is no longer working there The manager was an extremely rude person to me and my family. This was my first time eating here and you couldn't pay me to go back. An event was going on that evening so the table situation was tricky. There was a sign to seat yourself so we attempted to do so but the whole front room was full of people for the event. We asked a waiter where we could sit and he pointed us to the back room with a table that had 8 chairs. Our group was 6 people and as we were sitting the manager came by saying she would rather us sit at a 6 top because they were going to get really busy. Since there were no other tables to sit at we stayed at this table and our waitress kindly served us. Throughout the night the manager walked around to other tables and when passing ours she rolled her eyes, almost every time. Towards the end of the night she came to 'apologize'. This consisted of her saying sorry if we thought she was being rude, and made sure to remind us again of how busy they were. We came to celebrate a 21st birthday and the manager ruined the restaurant experience completely. I am not one to complain but I really felt like it was needed. For years I have been a regular and a supporter of the Dublin pub. When asked where I would like to go or asked for a recommendation I would always answer "Dub Pub " typically with a follow up "try the beef shot ,pub fries and a blacksmith " . Unfortunately over the last 2 years the pub has dramatically dropped off in service and food preparation. With the conclusion of a visit with some friends toward the end of summer 2016 my wife and I both looked at one another and said "never again we are officially done with the pub" That lasted until today when I said "let's give it another shot , it was our favorite place for years" . With that being said I would like to thank the staff of the Dublin pub for collectively proving our being done with the pub was the correct choice . We sat as a party of 3 at a high top table in the expanded portion near the brunch buffet . A gentleman worker walked directly by us and checked on a table behind us ,dropped off menus to an empty table next to us and proceeded to return to the bar/kitchen area. We sat for roughly 15 minutes before a bearded gentleman came by and asked if we had been helped , we replied a resounding "No" he kindly apologized and took our drink orders and followed up saying he would let our server and her trainee know we were there. Our server (trainee in tow) arrived roughly 5/10 minutes later and asked if we had been helped I responded with a very irritated "only drink orders" she said oh ok and walked away returning shortly with 2 out of 3 drinks correct ( a water a Bloody Mary and a coke, the water having been replaced with a sprite) that is ok as it happens due to water and sprite having such a similar pronunciation and spelling. Follow this snag up with another 10 minutes of waiting for the server to return with the correct drink and taking our orders (brunch buffet all around) meanwhile an older couple sat next to us , and promptly the original gentleman returned to check on his table an additional new table and the older couple freshly seated, he made it a point to check on the couple 8 times during our brunch while we were asked by our server 2 times if we needed anything ,the bearded gentleman never returned. The brunch buffet was a hodgepodge of items including frozen biscuits incredibly greasy bacon pre partied sausage 3 total items containing bell peppers and onion (out of 7 items ) the carving station/omelette hostess was friendly and attentive constantly coming away from her station to check the buffet answer questions and deliver omelettes ( in retrospect she should have received the tip) to attempt to wrap this up I will say " The Dublin Pub is a lackluster restaurant with subpar service high prices and food that is made to disappoint " I will not return to the Dublin pub I will never again recommend the Dublin pub to anyone on the contrary I will do my absolute best to explain why this restaurant should be closed to each and every person willing to listen. We really tried to like this place, but wasn't impressed at all. My husband and I both got fish & chips and was very disappointed. They were just large fish sticks. Neither of us liked the cole slaw and I couldn't drink my Bloody Mary. They did have a brunch buffet so maybe that was good? The staff was very nice though. read more
