I love a small place with good food. Nothing special just food cooked as expected and taste as expected. I haven't had anything bad. Best part is all you can eat on Sunday at 1:00pm. let me start this isn't a buffet as advertise. This has got to be the worst food. I ever had. you have the owner serving you own a paper plate where what he wants to give you a scoop of all 10 items on one plate where he takes his spoon and breaks pieces of meat, which I never was able to get any meat but seemed to be bones and gristles that was the pork chop I asked for on two occasions both times the same results. Don't waste your time everything was old and cold. We spent $50 and had to go get food bc we were hungry. I've never had such and experience. My husband attends the Duketers with his high school classmates for a monthly get-together. One of his friends suggested they support The Dukesters. They went for a Sunday Buffet and he came home and raved about the food. Finally, for his birthday, I wanted to see what the hype was all about. Well, I took my kids and grandkids for his birthday. My daughter was reluctant because she read the reviews, but those reviews were from years ago. We had an assortment of soul food, fried chicken, fried fish and salmon croquet, ribs, turkey and dressing, cabbage, green, mack & cheese--rice and more. I wanted to taste everything so I could critique it. Everything I ate was delicious. Try the buffet (drinks and desserts are included.) you won't be sorry. Well, I have been hearing this advertised on 1230 AM The Buzz for quite some time and I was looking for a good spot to eat. It was easy to find. It was in a little place area. The place is pretty small. Take out only. I bought 3 dinners and 3 desserts. It was a little expensive to me but I was like the food has to be good and have large servings. It was about $15 to $17 per dinner. Got home and started eating and I was not impressed. The mac and cheese taste like box mac and cheese...not baked like I'm used to or like most soul food places do it. The greens tasted old. And the chicken was dry. The people I got the other dinners for weren't really happy with theirs either. I got lemon cake for the desserts and that was the best tasting thing I got. The woman working there was nice. She said someone was supposed to be there helping her but they didn't come in. The wait was long due to that. Maybe it was an off day for them. Some places are a hit or miss. But other people I know said they didn't really like their food. But the are rather expensive to me. The most expensive soul food place I have been to. I might give them another try but if I don't, it's ok. read more

7/23/2018 - Had a brother visiting from GA and after church he wanted some soul food. The first thing that came to mind was the Dukester. I tired it once before and had the ribs, but wasn't crazy about them, but I remembered the desert being delicious, so I took him there. We order 3 dinners (fired white, liver & onions and meatloaf). When we got home and started eating, to say we were disappointed is putting it mildly. Not only did the food lack any aroma, it tasted terrible. The fish was dark & looked like it was refried and even dousing it with hot sauce didn't help; the greens tasted like they dump vinegar over them; the green beans tasted spoiled and the sweet potatoes were less than tolerable. Don't even get me started on the meatloaf or lack thereof. As state early the pound cake was delicious and moist. I would not recommend the food to anyone! read more

So I stop at this place for lunch. They don't have any lunch specials. I order the turkey and stuffing. They were out of stuffing, so just put the turkey on a slice of bread. The turkey was horrible. First of all, the Mac n Cheese was from a box, the greens were flavorless and the meat seasoning (which was the same on every meat) was super salty. Hear advertisement on the radio to call that they are trying to keep you out of the kitchen over the weekend to call for specials and when you call the lady says no specials and hangs up the phone. I heard the ad for this great tasting food at the Dukester, so I decided to try it. And oh was I so thoroughly disappointed. I got the turkey and dressing dinner with mac n cheese. We has a family reunion and got food catered from them ..First of all when the man came with the food he said that the food was just cooked and was hot , and ask us was we ready for him to light the fire, we said no and he said that it should keep warm for about 45 -1 hour...we said ok...45 min went passes and we started to light the food...The food should have still been warm ( or at least room temperature)was not it was cold(string bean and Mac and cheese) the chicken was still hot. Tried to cross some cultural/diverse/ethnic lines that I was not quite comfortable with. Found Dukesters Supper Club. I'm not sure if its on it's way up or its way down? The two workers we encountered were friendly. One was the cook and the other worked behind the bar. This Club is located in a strip mall building if sorts. Mainly older African American guests. Music was interesting. It appeared to be karaoke to older songs like "the car wash.". Food it OK. I have never had soul food that I know of so I don't have anything to compare it to. Fish and wings are OK. Candied yams ok. Mac and cheese just alright for me. Kinda bland. My daughter had fun dancing to the music. You could say I had a fun time. Not seemingly a great neighborhood which could be off-putting but we were on a mission. Oh, yeah the photo below does not represent the place well. The and DU in the dukester are no longer lit.
