Two reasons you should go to Divine Appetite: 1. Great Caribbean/African food. 2. Support a great locally owned family restaurant. This was restaurant 2 (of 24) of my wife and my December eating Advent calendar. What a great treat! My wife ordered the Fufu (think of mashed potatoes, but made of Casava). It came with a spicy soup and a whole Tilapia (including bones). Our food supply has mostly made us forget our proteins were living at some point, so I quite enjoy the "bone in" experience due to it's lack of processing and higher freshness. I ordered the Fried Red Snapper and it took was the whole fish. We both loved the flavors! For sides I had fried plantains and a black-eyed pea dish. Both Amazing. So the food and love and attention put into it by the family is the hero here. It is hard to describe, but we just feel better after eating fresh food, and that is how we left Devine Appetite... feeling great This restaurant is exactly as I would expect from a small family owned business. It is in an unassuming strip mall location. Many of the family work there (I counted 3 generations). The food is prepared when ordered, so it will not be a quick in and out experience. My wife and I loved this vibe and will certainly come back. We saw many people come in to grab food as take out, so that is also an option.

I can't recommend the Divine Appetite Cafe enough if you're looking for unique food. It is in a pretty random location and easy to miss with a definite no frills type of environment. The restaurant provides a variety of African cuisine of which I'm admittedly a novice. I asked the lady working there which part of Africa, and she said Ghana. The food reminds me a lot of Jamaican or other island type food. We ordered the following: Meat Pie: This dish is worth the price of admission alone. I've had lots of meat pies over the years from Jamaican places but this one takes the cake. They make these to order and you can tell with the flaky pastry dough and the beef/veg filling. I could of ordered 10 of these just to take home. OxTail: My wife ordered this as it is one of our favorite dishes from traveling around to various Caribbean islands. The meat was tender and I would say in more of a tomato creole type sauce then what you see at a Jamaican restaurant. Peanut Soup: I ordered this and it comes with goat (or you can choose a different meat). The lady working there recommended it, and I'm not afraid to try something authentic. I wouldn't say I'm a huge goat fan, but she said it was best with it. I have to say that it was probably the most tender goat I've had. The peanut soup itself is delicious and they give you a rice ball to eat along with it. This place is packing the flavors and don't be afraid to check it out if seeking a little adventure/something new. Highly recommended!

simply put the food was incredible. the wait was a little longer than i expected and the price was a bit higher than i anticipated, but both were TOTALLY worth it!! clean inside and really nice employees :) they also tempted me into getting myself these little crunchy cookies. very tasty!! the mac n cheese restored my will to live. i will definitely be back!

    Grand opening $10 tasting menu!

Cincinnati has a serious lack of quality soul food, but I'm happy to say that the void is about to be filled. I attended the grand opening today of the Divine Appetite Cafe and I cannot wait to return. Today's menu was a $10 tasting that let you sample all of the goods. My personal faves were the greens cooked in smoked turkey, chicken wings and the delectable peach cobbler for dessert. Everything here is fresh and made from scratch, even the salad dressings and the balsamic will have you wanting to take a quart home. The restaurant is a little small so as it gets more popular there may be a wait, but it's worth it. The chef also told me they're planning a delivery service, so I can't wait for the next time I'm on tap for Sunday dinner. You owe it to yourself to check this place out!!

This is what I got for $30

He was genuinely friendly, accommodating with my order, and made me feel like a valued customer from the moment I walked in. While waiting for my food, we chatted about other Jamaican restaurants around Cincinnati. What stood out most was how highly he spoke of the competition. Instead of putting other restaurants down, he gave each one credit where it was due. That level of confidence and respect says a lot about both the owner and the business. I took a quick look around while I waited, and the restaurant was spotless. The space felt clean, comfortable, and inviting. I ordered my meal to go and had about a 30-minute drive home. When I finally opened my container, steam poured out and the food was still piping hot. That's the kind of freshness you hope for but don't always get! The only hiccup was that my macaroni and cheese was accidentally left out of my bag. I called the restaurant, and before I could even explain why I was calling, the owner immediately acknowledged the mistake. He apologized and assured me he'd remember me the next time I came in. His response was genuine and customer focused, which made the situation easy to overlook. Great hospitality, delicious fresh food, and excellent customer service. If this first visit is any indication, I'll definitely be back and next time, I'm getting extra mac and cheese!

I ordered their island rice box: Jamaican rice & beans, Caribbean slaw, mango salsa and of course their jerked chicken. The mango was bright and tart, the slaw was crisp and creamy, the rice soaked up some of the flavor from the smokey and succulent chicken. I would eat this once a day if I could! The plantains were perfectly sweet with just enough sear and caramelization. I actually dropped my first order seconds after collecting it, and they replaced it free of charge rather than let me enact the five second rule. If you see this bright green truck, do not fail to stop!

The menu looked amazing, so I drove us there. When we pulled up, I thought we had the wrong place. It is inside of an office building. Tip: Go to the second floor and make a left. The aroma of the food will lead your right to it. When we arrived, they had music playing and chill vibes. You can order and pay through the kiosk. After we placed our order, we went into the dining area. The food came out pretty quickly. I ordered 10 wings and coco bread. For my flavors, I selected the pineapple jerk wings and the honey jerk wings. The owner came out personally and brought my wings to me. The owner is a really solid dude. He gave us the backstory on the restaurant and told us about his homemade sauces. You can tell that he really is passionate about his business. The wings were smoked and sauced to perfection! And they are 10 for $10! Can't beat that price for the quality they are giving you. The coco bread was a nice addition, I used it to soak up the leftover jerk sauce I had in my container! My wife got the jerk salmon with fried rice and jerk yum yum sauce. Yes, you heard me right! Jerk Yum Yum Sauce!!! I had to steal a couple of bites off of her plate, and I shared one of my wings with her. She loved her meal, and the jerk yum yum sauce was phenomenal. We ordered The Hut Punch, which is sugar-free and comes with real fruit pieces. It was very refreshing and flavorful. Lastly, the customer service! We met the owner and his wife. They have managed to bring a piece of Jamaica to Ohio. When we were about to leave to head back to Columbus, I told my wife that I couldn't leave without getting some jerk yum yum sauce to go. I asked if they sold sauces to go. The owner went out of his way to go and purchase containers so that I could take some home. He didn't have to do that, but I am truly grateful that he did. I am now back in Columbus, and I have already started pouring on my fried rice and loving every bite! If you love Jamaican food, you have to try this place! Jerk Wings 1-5=5! Coco Bread 1-5=4.
