Loved my experience and would 100% come back again. I came in without and appointment on June 19, 2022 to get a Route 66 tattoo. I was traveling with 40 women on motorcycles for the "Chix on 66" event which began on June 12th in Chicago, Illinois and went all the way to Santa Monica, California. I wanted to get a tattoo somewhere along the way. Santa Fe was sandwiched between two of the shortest days on the trip so I thought this would be the perfect place to get my tattoo. And it was! I had actually spoken with another studio in the area weeks earlier but those plans never panned out as their communication was severely lacking. If you can't bother to get back to me in the weeks leading up to the appointment, I'm not exactly comfortable with the idea of you poking me with a needle and permanently marking my body. Then when I got there they weren't even in the studio at the time we'd agreed upon. Bye. So I left that place and found The Dungeon. Like I said I walked in without an appointment and upon arriving I spoke with the owner who said Joaquin could take care of me when he finished with the customer he was with. I agreed, walked back to my hotel room at the El Rey Court, and came back about an hour later. I found Joaquin to be approachable. He asked me questions about what I wanted (I knew I wanted the road sign for sure and something motorcycle related - maybe handlebars? but I wasn't sure, so I was open to suggestions), what my expectations were (I understand the care involved and that tattoos don't look like photographs), what kind of motorcycle I ride, and then he went to work designing my custom tattoo. He came up with a silhouette of a touring bike that was similar to mine but with some differences. I said that's close but mine has a windshield not a faring and-- then I pulled my phone out and showed him a pic of my motorcycle. He said "send that to me" so I did and he put it into his design program on his tablet and worked up what you see in the pics. It's done in shades of purple watercolor and I am absolutely in love with it. I get compliments on it ALL THE TIME. The coolest thing about it is that it's MY bike!! Even my husband who isn't a fan of tattoos thinks it's cool!! Haha! Joaquin gave me excellent advice on how to care for it especially since I still had 6 days to go on the road before I reached the end of Route 66 at the Santa Monica Pier in California. This was not my first tattoo, it was actually my 4th but I got the first three more than 20 years ago and ideas and standards of care have changed since then. And I knew that riding a motorcycle through the Mojave Desert in the end of June with a fresh tattoo could be tricky. But he made sure I knew what to do and what not to do. I followed his advice and it healed beautifully and without incident. Of all the souvenirs I came home with from that trip, this tattoo is my absolute favorite. I will be forever grateful, Joaquin. Thank you so much.

After looking everywhere for a reputable place to pierce our 1 year old daughter's ears here in Texas and not finding anywhere that would do it under the age of 5, we decided to come here while on vacation. I can't say enough good things about Joaquin and The Dungeon. He was so patient and kind and didn't rush, and did a phenomenal job. Her piercings are perfect and I'm so glad that we ended up at this shop. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much, Joaquin!

After getting some good work done here, we allowed the artist to test some new settings on a gun for small hand tattoos that became infected, and most of the ink came out despite being given proper care. We were assured they'd be fixed for no charge, but the artist kept dodging our attempts to schedule to get them fixed. I'm very disappointed, but we won't be going back here again.

Was also a walk-in so that's amazing to me. Just a grate guy with visible passion for his art and the thoughts and feelings of the customer. Just amazing

Unprofessional and egocentric, that's the only way I would describe the owner of this tattoo shop…read more(Guido). I was just there to accompany friends that wanted to get some ink. They had done some research, called the shop and were asked to stop by as they didn't do reservations over the phone. So in we went and immediately I could sense the cockiness on Guido. Again, since it wasn't me getting the tattoo, I sat down and kept that first impression to myself, allowing my friends to discuss the tattoos. All I could here was him saying how busy he was, and arguing on the design they had in mind, basically saying how he knows better than the customer. Sure, you have experience but the customer is paying and ultimately is the one wearing the tattoo permanently so how about you let them express themselves without cutting them off. By this time my annoyance was escalating and I just wanted to get out of there. Finally, as if doing my friends a favor, he agreed to an appointment that Sunday at 3pm. 3pm, sharp, we were there. There were people on the chairs, getting work done, and another one waiting. Hmmm, I thought they had agreed on a time a date but guess that didn't matter to them. They just asked us to come back in about 45 minutes because, and I quote "we got some walk-ins". How unprofessional to ignore an appointment, of not one but two people and act like is not a big deal. Trying to stay positive, my friends asked if they could at least see the sketches while they waited, the answer "no, I'm busy, come back later". If it wasn't for the $60 cash deposit they had to put down to "secure" the appointment, I think (and hope) my friends would have walked away and not gone back, but we killed some time and came back as we had been told. And guess what... there was someone new at the chair. Seriously?!!? Then said it would be another 15 - 20 minutes. When we said we were done and the tattoos will not happen, Guido just shrugged and said "oh, so I can work on these walk-ins then". No eye contact, no apology, no care at all. Horrible way to run a business! And they kept the $60... Shameful!

It was my friend's first time in NM and so hard to narrow down all of the things to show her in this unique and beautiful state!! One important stop was matching tattoos to symbolize how many times our lives have overlapped, from toddlers in CT to Boulder in our 20's to Santa Fe & NY in our 50's. My husband had recently gotten a tattoo and was very happy with it, so we made an appointment and are very satisfied with the results.I'm so grateful to Lokote Tattoos for providing this memory for us! I am even MORE grateful that artist Chris Lopez has a steady hand and good sense of humor, since we were a little squirmy. Plus, he was super fast, which matters in these situations. I would highly recommend Lokote Tattoos and Chris Lopez. They take credit cards and have parking out front so it was very easy to transact with them. Thank you !
