And we got all of our food at different times? so when one of us was done eating, the others were waiting for their food, then another order would come, but never 3 at the same time (3 of us), as if our orders were put in separately, but they weren't. We got the burger, bone marrow toast, caviar & chips, chicken sliders & mashed potatoes...all just ok, BUT OMG THE BANANA BREAD Dessert made all of the mediocre food null & void. When we walked in, the music was already hitting and the energy just pulls you in. You can tell right away you're about to have a good time. The hostesses were great and got us seated quickly. We did the brunch package and BABY... 90 minutes of unlimited mimosas, Say less !! That alone made it worth it, but the food sealed the deal. The French toast, 10/10. I'm still thinking about it! My experience at The Duplex was honestly basement level from start to finish. We arrived early and were told they were closed until 5:00 PM, so we left and returned at 5:10 for our 5:15 reservation. The first red flag was when they seated a huge number of people all at once. There's no way every single person had a 5:00 or 5:15 reservation, and the restaurant immediately appeared overwhelmed. There was also a complete lack of clarity regarding the Mother's Day brunch pricing and what was actually included. Every employee explained it differently until a manager finally came over and clarified it for us. After being seated, it took an hour just to receive our first drinks. About an hour and a half in, appetizers finally arrived -- except for one person in our party, whose appetizer came about 15 minutes later. After that, absolutely nothing came out except repeated promises that our food was "on the way." At one point, someone acknowledged they were behind and offered us complimentary drinks, which we accepted. Even after that, another 45 minutes to an hour passed with no food. We repeatedly asked the waitress if our order had actually been placed. She insisted it had and claimed she could show us the ticket, but somehow no one could verify where our food actually was. To make matters worse, there was a loud group of women yelling, screaming, and singing along to the music throughout the evening. Multiple people appeared annoyed, yet staff never addressed the disruption. By 8:00 PM, we finally decided to leave because four people in our party still had not received any food at all. My sister did receive a burger, but it came out incorrect and had to be remade. Even then, the rest of the table still had nothing. The moment we announced we were leaving, staff suddenly claimed our food was "coming right out," but somehow the food then magically disappeared again. Another waitress came over attempting to explain things, but at that point nothing she said made the situation any better. After nearly three hours with no meals served, we were done. The biggest issue is that everything had been prepaid. Hopefully, we are not charged for food that never arrived. We began with the shrimp scampi and the baked Brie, and honestly, I would come back just for the Brie alone. It was that good.The cocktail menu is especially interesting. I attended a brunch/day party on 5/9, and while the atmosphere is great, be aware that it is small in there, so there's not a lot of room to "party" when the place is PACKED. The waiter I had was great, even put my friend and me on to the crab dip that's not on the menu, but it was really good. The Duplex was our last stop for Restaurant Week 2026 with my BFFs #1 and #2. They had an interesting menu that we wanted to explore, so we made a reservation. This was a pre-paid deal for $60 each, so we were cool to go. Let start off by saying that their customer service was on point before we got to the restaurant. I received a call from a gentleman (don't remember his name) informing me that they would be hosting the Super Bowl that night with a specific menu and wanted to see if we wanted to cancel our reservation and get a refund. He explained that it would most likely be loud due to the game and wanted to give us the option of canceling if that was going to be a problem. Since we were all into the game and wanted to see Bad Bunny, we agreed to come in anyway. We were seated at a booth with a clear view of the screen they had set up to watch the game. So glad we did because while it was very loud as there was a DJ playing music before the game started, it was also a lot of fun! We did have to yell to talk but we were also able to sing during the half time show and dance in our seats. The gentleman who spoke to us on the phone came over to our table to make sure we were okay. My BFF #2 asked him name twice (and I still don't know what it is), but she did so because she said he loved the way his mouth moved when he spoke....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The restaurant menu was pretty decent. We started out with the Bread Service (cultured butter, accoutrements). The bread was a roll that was actually nice with the butter. I didn't do the oil, but both BFFs said they enjoyed it. Our second course consisted of the Strawberry Salad (spinach, strawberries, blueberries, goat cheese, walnuts, red onions, seared dates, poppy seed dressing) for me and BFF #2 and the Wedge Salad for BFF #1 (iceberg, tomatoes, serrano buttermilk, pepitas, herbs). The strawberry salad was fresh and so good! The addition of the goat cheese with blueberries was a winner for me and I asked if I could get some more, which our server Ashley gladly brought out. BFF #1 said that his wedge salad was equally tasty and he liked the addition of the serrano buttermilk dressing. For dinner, both BFFs got the Steak & Potatoes (strip steak, pomme puree) and I got the Lobster Bucatini (bucatini, lobster, tomato cream sauce, chili, herbs, truffle panko). BFF #1 loved the temperature of his steak, but BFF #2 did not like hers. She really likes her meat very well done and I have told her repeatedly that there are places that simply won't prepare good meat like that. As for my Lobster Bucatini, I would go back to the restaurant just for that. Keep in mind this was a Restaurant Week menu, so I was not expecting the amount of pasta and lobster that I got in the dish. I mean there was chunks of lobster claw meat (you can see it in one of my photos for this review). I ended up taking half of it home and it was just a good the next day. Dessert consisted of a Whipped cheesecake mousse with a chocolate tart, graham cracker crumble, dulce de leche and berries. My BFFs really enjoyed this. I thought it was good but I am not a big fan of desserts as a rule and definitely not a fan of dulce de leche, but this is my particular taste and nothing against the preparation of the dessert. There is street parking near the restaurant. You can park on Fullerton and walk down a few blocks, but if you want to park closer, I would recommend coming down Fullerton so you can come down the frontage road on the east side of the street. There was plenty of diagonal street parking. Our server Ashley was really nice and kept an eye out for us at all times so we didn't have a problem giving her a little extra on top of the already added 20%. I definitely want to go back if for no other reason than to get that Strawberry Salad and the Lobster Bucatini. read more

My friends and I came here for a date night into the new year. Luckily we were able to find parking right around the corner. We walked in and everybody was just genuinely welcoming. We were seated within 5 mins upon arrival since we had reservations. They had the place nicely decorated for New Years Eve. And let me mention how our waitress was absolutely fantastic! So professional, fun, and down to earth! The staff are A1 ! We paid in advance for our 4 course dinner and it was very delightful. The chicken&caviar was bomb, the tartare&toast was good but had too many onions, the prime steak was mouth watering but came with no bone marrow like the menu stated, and the cheesecake was different but actually quite wonderful. One of my friends shared that the waygu burger was also excellent! After dinner we stayed for the open bar and new years eve party. I felt there were a few things wrong with this set up. 1. The manager tried to have us pay for the NYE party admission AND open bar, which didn't make sense because we were already in the building from dinner 2. The party was from 10p-2a but the open bar was only 10p-12a 3. There were only 6 cocktails to choose from for open bar, and all but one was nasty 4. There were only 3 bartenders at the very overcrowded bar 5. There was no DJ. The music was okay but definitely could've been better. There was nobody to do the count down over a mic so everyone was doing it on their phone. The mimosa policy was pretty strict, with a hard 90 minute limit, and they only allowed two flavor options per table, even though everyone paid separately. The space felt unprepared...tight walking room, tables being moved around during seating, a missing DJ they advertised, and heavy construction outsideThe host was ok..a little bland in my opinion. From the DJ on the 1 and 2 to the makeshift dance floor, do not go here unless you're ready to turn up. If you plan to go I highly recommend making reservations. Even though we had to wait I wasn't too upset considering we didn't have reservations, and I don't mind sitting at the bar. Very disappointed. I was hoping to give this spot another try and support them for Juneteenth celebration. I saw that they have a pretty cool happy hour so decided to bee line over to get happy and celebrate with kinfolk. We trekked about an hour in traffic, construction and battled to find parking only to be told that the business is closed to the public for a private event if we didn't have tickets. With there being a private event, the kitchen was closed as well. I was shocked over this because this information was not posted on the website nor on their social media (Facebook, instagram). I went back to speak to the owner and spoke with another employee who shared that although they had an event others could stay there and order a drink. When I initially came in the restaurant, I was told from the hostess that you must have tickets to get in. Whatever the case may be, please update your website and social media if you are not going to be open for a holiday. It's sad that people trek over to your business and wish to patronage it on a major celebratory holiday to be told that you can't serve them. I had a margarita and that was GOOD. I tried a piece of my friend's burger and liked it. I will get one next time. The service was great. The atmosphere was good. Will was great and provided great customer service! Before this visit, I was taken care of by Bryant at the bar and he had great customer service as well. He made a good margarita. It was not very busy on an early Thursday evening but the hostess/server worked the room like it was packed.
