My dinner experience was much better than my brunch experience. The service was good, the food came out correct and in a timely manner, and was tasty. The sticky wings were especially good--they had the perfect sweet and savory balance. I also had the spicy pasta alla vodka and really enjoyed it. The ambiance is dimly lit and perfect for a night out with friends or a date.

This restaurant is absolutely incredible. Debra was our fabulous server and offered spot on recommendations from start to finish. We began with the shrimp scampi and the baked Brie, and honestly, I would come back just for the Brie alone. It was that good. The cocktail menu is especially interesting. We tried the Last Word and the Oaxaca, both excellent, well balanced, and not sweet, which is exactly how we like our drinks. For our mains, we had the branzino and the steak au poivre. The steak was unbelievably tender. And somehow, despite feeling full, we made room for dessert with zero regrets. The banana bread was absolutely outstanding.

I Really Want To Like This Place, But They Seriously Need To Improve How They Run Brunch On The Weekends. Our Party Wasn't Seated Until Almost 20 Minutes Past Our Reservation Time. We Were On A Tight Schedule, So I Let The Host Know We Would Have To Leave. She Informed Me That I Wouldn't Get My Deposit Back Since It Would Count As A Last-Minute Cancellation. I Explained That I Wasn't Canceling, The Table Simply Wasn't Ready At My Reserved Time, Which Shouldn't Be On Me. After That Conversation, We Were Seated Immediately. We Ordered As Soon We Sat Down, But Our Food For A Table Of Three Took About An Hour To Come Out. I Understand Brunch Can Be Busy, But A One-Hour Wait Feels Excessive. I Think Implementing A Time Cap On Weekend Brunch Could Really Help With Flow And Guest Expectations. That Being Said, The Food Was Great, The Vibes Were Great, And The DJ Was On Point Playing A Mix Of Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, And House. I'd Definitely Come Back, Just Hoping For A Smoother Experience Next Time.

The Duplex was our last stop for Restaurant Week 2026 with my BFFs #1 and #2. They had an interesting menu that we wanted to explore, so we made a reservation. This was a pre-paid deal for $60 each, so we were cool to go. Let start off by saying that their customer service was on point before we got to the restaurant. I received a call from a gentleman (don't remember his name) informing me that they would be hosting the Super Bowl that night with a specific menu and wanted to see if we wanted to cancel our reservation and get a refund. He explained that it would most likely be loud due to the game and wanted to give us the option of canceling if that was going to be a problem. Since we were all into the game and wanted to see Bad Bunny, we agreed to come in anyway. We were seated at a booth with a clear view of the screen they had set up to watch the game. So glad we did because while it was very loud as there was a DJ playing music before the game started, it was also a lot of fun! We did have to yell to talk but we were also able to sing during the half time show and dance in our seats. The gentleman who spoke to us on the phone came over to our table to make sure we were okay. My BFF #2 asked him name twice (and I still don't know what it is), but she did so because she said he loved the way his mouth moved when he spoke....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! The restaurant menu was pretty decent. We started out with the Bread Service (cultured butter, accoutrements). The bread was a roll that was actually nice with the butter. I didn't do the oil, but both BFFs said they enjoyed it. Our second course consisted of the Strawberry Salad (spinach, strawberries, blueberries, goat cheese, walnuts, red onions, seared dates, poppy seed dressing) for me and BFF #2 and the Wedge Salad for BFF #1 (iceberg, tomatoes, serrano buttermilk, pepitas, herbs). The strawberry salad was fresh and so good! The addition of the goat cheese with blueberries was a winner for me and I asked if I could get some more, which our server Ashley gladly brought out. BFF #1 said that his wedge salad was equally tasty and he liked the addition of the serrano buttermilk dressing. For dinner, both BFFs got the Steak & Potatoes (strip steak, pomme puree) and I got the Lobster Bucatini (bucatini, lobster, tomato cream sauce, chili, herbs, truffle panko). BFF #1 loved the temperature of his steak, but BFF #2 did not like hers. She really likes her meat very well done and I have told her repeatedly that there are places that simply won't prepare good meat like that. As for my Lobster Bucatini, I would go back to the restaurant just for that. Keep in mind this was a Restaurant Week menu, so I was not expecting the amount of pasta and lobster that I got in the dish. I mean there was chunks of lobster claw meat (you can see it in one of my photos for this review). I ended up taking half of it home and it was just a good the next day. Dessert consisted of a Whipped cheesecake mousse with a chocolate tart, graham cracker crumble, dulce de leche and berries. My BFFs really enjoyed this. I thought it was good but I am not a big fan of desserts as a rule and definitely not a fan of dulce de leche, but this is my particular taste and nothing against the preparation of the dessert. There is street parking near the restaurant. You can park on Fullerton and walk down a few blocks, but if you want to park closer, I would recommend coming down Fullerton so you can come down the frontage road on the east side of the street. There was plenty of diagonal street parking. Our server Ashley was really nice and kept an eye out for us at all times so we didn't have a problem giving her a little extra on top of the already added 20%. I definitely want to go back if for no other reason than to get that Strawberry Salad and the Lobster Bucatini.

This was a 5 star surprise. Smaller place but the vibe and music was perfect. Very chill but no one will say anything if you're enjoying yourself, being a little loud. Drinks were very good, nice & strong. The burger was delicious. Service was just right. I'll be back for a couple date nights

I have thoroughly enjoyed every time I've visited the Duplex! The FOH staff and waitresses and waiters have always been the most friendly and accommodating and attentive! I've come on a more chill day and also on their Saturday brunch party days and you really can't go wrong! Great music with consistently good food! My mom was visiting from Texas and is still talking about the avocado toast! I really enjoyed the lemon pepper wings and my #1 is the chicken and waffles! I'm not even a huge waffle person but these are delicious!!!!

My friends and I came here for a date night into the new year. Luckily we were able to find parking right around the corner. We walked in and everybody was just genuinely welcoming. We were seated within 5 mins upon arrival since we had reservations. They had the place nicely decorated for New Years Eve. And let me mention how our waitress was absolutely fantastic! So professional, fun, and down to earth! The staff are A1 ! We paid in advance for our 4 course dinner and it was very delightful. The chicken&caviar was bomb, the tartare&toast was good but had too many onions, the prime steak was mouth watering but came with no bone marrow like the menu stated, and the cheesecake was different but actually quite wonderful. One of my friends shared that the waygu burger was also excellent! After dinner we stayed for the open bar and new years eve party. I felt there were a few things wrong with this set up. 1. The manager tried to have us pay for the NYE party admission AND open bar, which didn't make sense because we were already in the building from dinner 2. The party was from 10p-2a but the open bar was only 10p-12a 3. There were only 6 cocktails to choose from for open bar, and all but one was nasty 4. There were only 3 bartenders at the very overcrowded bar 5. There was no DJ. The music was okay but definitely could've been better. There was nobody to do the count down over a mic so everyone was doing it on their phone. I would come back for dinner, but I would save my countdown fun into the new year for somewhere else more live.

I celebrated the New Year here. It was decorated really well. It was nice overall but there was a hiccup. The Fire Marshall showed up and it delayed orders. The food was really good and the wait staff were really friendly and responsive. All the food was really delicious.

I went to The Duplex with some friends for a Juneteenth package that included unlimited mimosas, a meal, and dessert. The shrimp and grits were delicious...I cleaned my plate. The dessert was a donut with whipped cream and chocolate chips..it wasn't bad, but super basic (only option). The mimosa policy was pretty strict, with a hard 90 minute limit, and they only allowed two flavor options per table, even though everyone paid separately. The space felt unprepared...tight walking room, tables being moved around during seating, a missing DJ they advertised, and heavy construction outsideThe host was ok..a little bland in my opinion. The vibe picked up as more people arrived. The space itself had a nice look with green accents, booths, and a stylish bar. However, after the event, I suspected I left my keys there and tried calling several times over multiple days, but no one ever answered. The shrimp and grits were tasty, so I mayyy go back if I'm in the neighborhood and there aren't any new places I would want to try.

This is definitely a turn up brunch spot. From the moment we entered I knew a time was about to be had. From the DJ on the 1 and 2 to the makeshift dance floor, do not go here unless you're ready to turn up. If you plan to go I highly recommend making reservations. We did not have reservations and had to wait about an hour to sit at the bar. Even though we had to wait I wasn't too upset considering we didn't have reservations, and I don't mind sitting at the bar. Once we were seated, I decided to try their espresso martini and it did not disappoint. My friends got the bottomless mimosa brunch and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. I had the shrimp and grits for my entree, they were very tasty. The grits were creamy just like I like them. Service was great, did not have to wait long for our food once we placed the order. Must try if you're in Chicago.

We went during Black Yacht Weekend for happy hour. Food was really good and well portioned, our server was also attentive and understanding our needed food changes to accommodate which was nice. The drinks definitely need some work, many were not balanced (either too sour from the citrus juice or just off-putting) Unsure if their AC was working properly this past Saturday, but it was SO HOT in there. Other wise the restaurant overall was really cute and I would go back for the food (just maybe on a cooler day)

its spritz o'clock. Wednesday has great happy hour from 5-6:30PM with $7 aperol spritz. We also chowed down on some burgers (also on HH menu $12). Love the booths and it was easy to get a table as a walk in.

We came in for brunch on Saturday and even though we had a reservation we still ended up waiting an hour. The staff was very nice and apologetic about it. We sat at the bar while we wait and the bartender gave us some of their fruit welcome shots as an appology. Asked us if we wanted to order any drinks or food while we waited on our table. Once we got to our table they apologized again and offered us our choice of shot. It was. DJ brunch so they were busy and I think tables weren't leaving as quick as usual. The food was also great. I got the breakfast burrito as a bowl and am so glad I did. I loved it without the tortilla. The wings were great. The crab dip was creamy and delicious. I would definitely keep this on my list of brunch places for the next time I'm in town.

    Is brunch 21+?

I've never seen children in the restaurant and have been several times. Their website and IG don't have age restrictions noted.

What type of music is usually played during brunch?

It was a mostly R&B-new and old. It was a good blend.

Is brunch a party brunch or is it family friendly (good for catching up, babies, older people, etc.?

    It's a party!

Is there free or paid parking nearby?

There's meter parking on Kedzie Blvd right around the corner from the restaurant.

Do I have to make reservations for this place, or can I go in and still be seated without it?

No reservation required. You can be seated as long they have availability

Does the deposit they want go towards your bill? and do they take walk-Ins?

They refunded the deposit back to me when I checked in for my reservation

    DJ on Saturday brunch?

Yes Gia from Noon until 3pm

Is this a good place for kids?

Not sure if you missed where I said " loud DJ and cannot hear"? Sunday brunch was very loud. Not sure if the DJ is there all the time. I don't see anything wrong with having children here, you just won't be able to hear them. And maybe that's a… Read more
