Mad Anthony's: A Dive Bar That Feels Like Home…read more Walking into Mad Anthony's feels like slipping into your favorite flannel shirt--warm, familiar, and a little rough around the edges, but in the best way. It's a dive bar that knows exactly what it is, and it leans into it unapologetically. The beer is cheap, cold, and endless, just the way nature intended. The regulars are the kind of people who will call you "buddy" before they even know your name, and by the end of the night, you might just have a nickname you didn't ask for but secretly love. The building itself is historic, though no one's quite sure how old it actually is--just old enough to have stories, and maybe a few ghosts, if you believe the guy on the corner stool. The crooked pool table in the back adds a layer of excitement (or frustration) to your game, and the food situation? Let's just say they've perfected the fine art of the toaster oven. A hotdog or frozen pizza has never tasted better, especially when served with the kind of charm only a dive bar can muster. And then there's the bathroom. This is where Mad Anthony's truly shines. They've cracked the code to dive-bar bathroom management by making sure the urinals are always packed with ice. It's a quirky, borderline genius trick that keeps the place from smelling like regret, and honestly, it's a level of thoughtfulness you wouldn't expect but deeply appreciate. The lighting is dark, but not "what-did-I-just-sit-on" dark--just enough to make everyone look a little cooler and keep the vibe cozy. Mad Anthony's doesn't try to impress, and that's exactly why it does. It's imperfect in all the right ways, and if you're looking for a bar that feels like an old friend, this is the place.

I stopped by…read morefor dinner to try them out and check out what one of the more popular Muncie bars has to offer. The special when I walked in was a pizza burger! That right there told me they don't mind being different in the style of food they serve! After checking over the menu full of wraps and burgers amongst a plethora of other bar food I ended up getting some wings to try and the house made chips. I got half my wings in the BBQ flavor and the other Buffalo. Being honest the wings weren't anything special but they did hit the spot and the BBQ sauce wasn't anything special to me on the wings but if it was used in some pulled pork or ribs I believe I would enjoy it more. The buffalo sauce was really good and had just enough heat to need the ranch here and there. The house made chips were good, not overly seasoned and not over cooked either. The place is small but has a handful of high top round tables and a few bigger square tables in the front with a decent bar strip with plenty of bottles and beers on tap. The pool table in the side room looked like a great area to hang around and play some pool while enjoying some beers with the company of friends. Next time I'm in town I will try one of their countless burger options!
