Good find for summer dining. Love the outdoor patio. Waitstaff a little inexperienced but very accommodating and friendly. Our table ordered the jalapeno burger which was cooked perfectly and had good spice to it. Also we had the seared salmon sandwich which was perfect. Pickles and fries were good (not those greasy fries you find so often that are coated in corstarch). My recommendation for this place is to add a house cream based salad dressing to their line up, and strengthen the cofee....it was weak. Edison Grill did a nice job renovating. (Very nice, in fact.) But backhouse management deficiencies constantly find the kitchen "out" of something - from home fries to hollandaise. (How could they be out of hollandaise? A respectable kitchen would know how to make more.) But there you go. Front house staff is adequate - pleasant enough, for sure - and always willing to joke about how they're always out of something. Unfortunately, that joke's worn thin. In fairness, Sunday brunches were the only time I'd been to Edison. Lack of area competition has found it increasingly crowded - but, never been worth the wait. read more

I was going to the WARNER THEATRE in Torrington from Wethersfield on a Sunday and I stopped for an early lunch at the Edison Grill on RT. 4 ( Bridge Park road) in Harwinton. I had read a few favorable reviews on YELP. It is a new restaurant. Got there just after noon. I was told that only breakfast was available until 1:00. That was no problem for me since I thought I would have an egg white Omelet. Waited about ten minutes for a booth. In looking over the breakfast menu, I got excited about the CRUNCHY COCONUT FRENCH TOAST, which I ordered. I choose cinnamon honey butter to go on my French toast. I ordered 2 slices. I usually order three slices when I order French toast and would take one home, but I was going to the theater so I only went for two. The French toast was very good but the slices are not big. My friend ordered two eggs, He said it was good. PIces are vey reasonable. SERVICE was excellent..The owner named the restaurant after THOMAS EDISON. Very interesting atmosphere. Love this place! Family owned and run, extensive menu (nothing too fancy but some adventurous takes on everyday dishes), creative apps. The desserts are DROP DEAD AMAZING. We arrived just as the menu was switching over from breakfast to lunch on Sunday. Our server was quick to bring coffee as we studied the menu. Had appetizers of fresh fried mozzarella and crunchy meatballs-both a hit. Husband loved his homemade veggie burger customized with fried eggs, cheddar and fried onions. I had the portobello panini-the best panini I have eaten-many layers of flavor on tasty bread-perfect consistency and crunch. $9.00 for a beer. Outrageous. Dinner was good but when I received the bill for dinner I had to grab my chest . The drinks alone for two people were $36.00, we each had only two beers. Felt like I was robbed. Can not recommend and I will never go back. read more

We thought the line at the door was a good sign but after waiting 20 minutes for a seat, our breakfast started off with tasteless coffee you could see through, which my husband and I BOTH sent back after a couple sips, and opted for 2, $9 Bloody Mary's..decent tasting but small...but better than the coffee for sure. Our food looked decent enough but the stuff they used as "butter" on the toast tasted like rancid lard...and I mean NASTY......unfortunately they must use the same stuff on the grill because my omelet tasted like it too... I was able to eat it with the aid of some hot sauce and I was starving..Fortunately my unbuttered english muffin was edible although barely toasted. Nothing special about any of it. Typical diner breakfast. The thing that will prevent me from EVER going back to this place is not the mediocre food so much as the fact that the owner did not take the coffee off our bill even though we didn't drink it because he said "there's nothing wrong with our coffee"!!! Sorry sir but usually the person CONSUMING the food decides whether or not THEY like it...not YOU. PLUS, we opted for $18 worth of drinks in it's place..you should have been happy to take off coffees that cost you just a few cents each....BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE will destroy a place fasted than bad food....and you have a bit of both. Grabbed a quick lunch here the other day and let me say this ... This place really sneaks up on you! Very unassuming from the outside but the decor and food are both great. Just visited this restaurant last night and it was an overwhelmingly awful experience. I had really high hopes as I had heard a lot of good things about this place. We arrived at about 8:00 for dinner. We were seated promptly by the hostess who was very nice. We were seated at a booth towards the back of the restaurant, there were 4 tables behind us with about 12 people at them, most of which seemed to be drinking their supper (I didn't see any food being served). There was no one else in the restaurant. The people at the 4 tables behind us were very loud, so loud that you couldn't hear yourself talk or think, at the end of a long day it was not relaxing and actually was very unpleasant. Some of the people at the tables appeared to part of the restaurant staff (maybe owners-not sure) and they were equally obnoxious, yelling, talking and laughing really loud. Some were very clearly quite drunk. I'm all for having fun but this is a restaurant, these people belonged in a bar or a club. They also weren't very friendly, kept bumping into our table and glaring at us like we were interrupting their party by being there. Very weird vibe. I ordered the chef's salad and my husband had the chili burger with hand cut fries. The fries were cold and undercooked, the chili burger was okay. The chef's salad was okay but it was served with very little dressing (about 2 Tbsp) for a large salad. We considered dessert but the atmosphere was just so loud and unpleasant that we decided to skip it. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive as was the hostess. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience and one that we won't be repeating. I would say the best part of the experience was the staff and the hostess who were very nice. The food was just so and the atmosphere was just amazingly awful. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal in peaceful surroundings. If you are looking a bar environment, you'll do okay here. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is great with all kinds of Thomas Edison quotes and decor. I like the way it is set up with a small bar area and the dining room. However, the food isn't great. I have tried this place 4 times now and found it to be Bland. First I tried the prime rib special and found that it had very little seasoning or flavor. The next time I went and tried the chicken wings which you can get either grilled or fried. Because I do not like spicy food I was happy to see other options. However again there was not much flavor other than the flavor of grilled. The next visit I tried a panini and my order came out incorrect. Many people do like this place and I wanted to also. We have visited Edison Grill several times for both lunch and dinner. We've tried the burgers, salads, paninis, fried fish sandwich, grilled salmon, and shrimp scampi Florentine. All have been excellent. With the exception of one visit, service has been outstanding also. We will continue to be frequent visitors. read more

went with a group of about 25-30 people and not one single person had anything bad to say (which it rarely happens). the food was amazing, the drinks (margaritas) were delicious and the service is unmatched. the owner himself came out multiple times to make sure we were satisfy with everything, the waitresses were on top of everything. i will definitely will be back and i know many of my family members will go back as well. i highly recommend this restaurant read more

This used to be our favorite breakfast spot until very recently. Unfortunately, the last couple times our order has had something wrong with it/missing each time. This past visit sealed the deal: My husband and I have been coming here for quite a while and almost always get the same thing which includes half a waffle that we split. This was never a problem until our last visit our waitress told us that the owner said that we're not allowed to order only half of a waffle because it's only for kid's. It's not like that was the only thing we were ordering. When I explained that we'd always gotten it with no issue, the waitress said that the other waitresses shouldn't have been letting us get it, but then later on said she would've just let us. Throwing your coworkers under the bus and then saying you'd do the same thing?? The whole experience just left a bad taste. So disappointing that they'd hassle us over a stupid half waffle.
